The Guild That Loves Being PK'd
The guild? "Guild?" Wait, was that whole conversation earlier about scouting me? The martial artist stared at me with eyes full of expectation. What do I do about this….
"I'm not really into guilds…." I scratched the back of my head and looked away. It was my way of saying no.
The martial artist looked flustered, clearly not expecting a rejection. I had no idea how to explain this.
"It's not that…."
Back when I was a newbie, I'd tried to join the best-spec guilds to enjoy guild content, but I got rejected at the first document screening. After submitting a hundred applications and getting rejected a hundred times, I'd given up on the dream of joining a guild.
"Hmm…."
I glanced over at the chat window. When I couldn't decide, asking the viewers for their opinions was always the best move.
Everyone seemed to think a trial wouldn't hurt.
"If it's just a trial…."
The martial artist sent the guild invitation as if she'd been waiting for this. The moment I accepted, the three of us were instantly teleported to the guild territory.
"Whoa…."
As soon as we entered the guild, pink cherry blossoms in full bloom greeted me. They'd decorated the territory with so much care.
The chat was mostly filled with admiration. They really had decorated the territory beautifully.
A rogue who was a guild member approached us.
'Me?' This was the first time someone said they wanted to meet me. Naturally, most players hated me. After all, I'd PK'd most of the top rankers. Of course, I'd also received plenty of insults, including some that dragged my family into it.
The rogue asked the guild master with an excited face. The guild master made a regretful expression.
The rogue leaned in close, spitting as he passionately bragged about his guild. His love for the guild was intense. Just when I was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed, the martial artist cut him off at the perfect moment.
After parting ways with the rogue, I toured the territory with the martial artist and the paladin. As we walked around the guild, though, I noticed something strange.
For some reason, every guild member we met greeted me warmly. Surely some of them had been PK'd by me before?
"Where would I get the money to buy gifts?" The viewers seemed to find it strange too. To satisfy my curiosity, I casually asked without making it obvious.
"Everyone's being so nice even though it's our first time meeting. Why is that?"
"Internal goodwill?"
It was the first time I'd heard the term "internal goodwill." Could you really build that up by getting PK'd?
"Really?"
It seemed I'd ended up tormenting just one particular guild to death. I felt a little bad. What should I do?
…It was fascinating that you could build internal goodwill this way.
'No, even if you tell me to settle down….' If my first guild was the number one ranked one, wouldn't that be too much pressure?
While we kept walking through the territory, someone called out to the martial artist from afar.
The paladin tried to protest, but the martial artist had already teleported away.
'……. '
"……."
An awkward silence fell between the two of us.
The viewers seemed unable to stand this suffocating atmosphere either. As a streamer, I needed to take the lead here.
"Hey."
"Aren't you going to show me around the guild?"
The paladin only kept repeating "yes." It was a bit frustrating, but I held it in. We entered the guild's main building.
"Wow, this side is impressive too."
Two staircases leading to the second floor, luxurious rugs and red carpets on the floor, candles creating atmosphere, and to top it all off, a massive chandelier that was the crowning touch. It was truly spectacular.
What caught my eye the most was the enormous picture frame installed right in the center of the second floor.
"What's that?"
Unable to contain my curiosity at those words, I quickly went up to the second floor. Inside the large, luxurious frame hung a painting of all the guild members.
"Wow…"
I agree. If I joined a guild, could I be in a painting like that too?
"The guild members all look really close."
"……."
To be honest, I was jealous. Even if I went outside, I didn't have anyone to meet except Rona.
The paladin was in the corner of the photo, polishing a sword. She seemed to prefer staying out of sight.
"…Could you show me around some more?"
We looked around the mansion interior, the garden, and the drawing room in order. Inside the mansion were spaces for guild members to rest and enjoy leisure activities, and when we went outside, a beautiful garden welcomed us.
'Even the imperial gardeners from the other world didn't decorate this well….'
By my standards, the Mishikhoe guild's garden was more beautiful than the imperial palace garden from the other world. In the center was a stunning fountain. It was the most beautiful fountain I'd seen so far.
According to the chat, that was also a guild reward. By the way, this was currently Season 18, so Season 1 was during the long dark age when Ramae suffered.
"Just how long have you all been doing this?"
Having rewards from Season 1 was truly amazing. This time we entered a glass greenhouse that got plenty of sunlight, where flowers representing all four seasons in vibrant colors were gathered in one place.
Having even the open beta limited-time flowers made me a little scared now. Finally, we looked at the annex. The annex was a special building given only to guilds ranked in the top 10 server-wide. When we stepped inside, there was a large round table with thirty chairs.
"……?"
For a moment I tilted my head in confusion.
Making an entire guild annex into a meeting room just because the atmosphere wasn't right—there was no greater waste than this. I carefully studied the paladin's face.
"No, you've had this displeased look on your face the whole time. Do you not want me joining the guild?"
'……'
The paladin remained silent. At this point, I could take that as a yes.
'Because she's a mage….' It probably wasn't for that reason. As far as I knew, the paladin didn't discriminate based on class.
"Can I ask why?"
"Yes, what about it?"
What does you watching my streams have to do with me joining the guild?
The paladin scratched her head, looking like she found it hard to say.
"Huh?"
For a moment I thought I must have misheard. It would get in the way? No way….
"You're saying that if I join the guild, there will be fewer players I can PK?"
"……."
I didn't expect her to care this much. How should I even respond….
'…Wait a second? Now that I think about it, this is ridiculous?'
Who is she to care about my PKing?
"Don't worry about that kind of thing. I'll handle my own stream!"
"……."
She apologized again, so I had nothing to say. Just as the guild tour was almost over, the martial artist, having finished her business, came back to us.
"It's fine. The paladin gave me a really good tour…."
"Don't worry. I'll join the guild."
It would be too shameless to run away after doing the trial.
The viewers didn't seem particularly upset either.
The martial artist took out the guild membership form from her inventory, and I signed it without a second of hesitation. The three letters "Mishikhoe" appeared in my game info window. Now I was officially a member of Mishikhoe.
"By the way, is there anything I need to do after joining the guild?"
I asked just in case. There might be guild rules that conflicted with what I usually did. But an unexpected answer came from the martial artist's mouth.
"By 'what I normally do,' you mean…."
