Terror of My First Horror Game

I realized that playing horror games made me shake way more than usual. There was a bit of commotion, but once the download finished, the chats started flooding in, urging me to get started.

"Got it, got it. It'll launch on its own, so quit nagging. First, deep breaths. Hoo, haa…"

"…What the hell kind of moaning was that? And this is a huge challenge for me!"

To me, this was my first horror game in my life, you assholes.

A moment later, I launched the game, and right from the start, a dark background gave way to the title screen. This title screen was already scary— was I really okay with this? I was starting to get freaked out.

"Uh… Do I really have to clear the whole thing? What's the playtime like…?"

These guys seriously think massive tits = nonstop milk? As if squeezing gets anything out! …Not that I've tried, but whatever.

The sudden jingle from my earphones made me scream without thinking. It was the donation sound? Right as I was about to hit start, too…

No way I let out some girly scream like that, even with this body. They just love messing with me, so it's bullshit.

A moment later, with my still-shaking hand, I hit the start button. Eerie music kicked in, and the scene shifted to ‍‍‌‌⁠​​⁠‌​​‍​​‍​‌​⁠‍‌‍⁠⁠‌⁠‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍⁠​‌​‌​‌‍‌‌‌⁠‍​​‌‍⁠‌‌⁠⁠an abandoned factory. Someone with terrified eyes entered it— flashlight only, no less. That was the protagonist I'd be playing.

Frustrated, I thumped my chest. "Agh, this is why I hate horror genre. Why the fuck go into a creepy place like that?!"

…Damn, first-person view too. And why's the screen so dark? With trembling hands, I slowly moved forward.

Chats weren't showing up… Oh, the background was too dark to see the chat window. I need chats to not be scared— can't even check if they're coming in!

I deliberately shone the flashlight toward the chat area and said in a quivering voice, "Y-you guys watching, right?"

…What's behind me? Like a horror movie protag, I slowly turned around, squinting and shining the light.

Nothing there.

"Haa, haa… See? Nothing!"

Falling for such obvious bait— even I knew I wasn't right in the head. I turned back and pressed on.

Damn, chat vanished again. Can't sidle along shining sideways… Gotta get to a bright spot for visibility.

Something dropped behind me. I clutched my chest in shock. Not scary my ass, you demon spawns! This game's dogshit!

"Ugh… Y-you guys chatting, right…?"

Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.

I couldn't finish. Footsteps approaching from behind.

…Wait, was that earlier drop the thing appearing?

"Kyaaaaack!"

I screamed at the top of my lungs on reflex and bolted forward without looking back. Cold sweat poured down my back. Even sprinting, those thumps didn't fade.

Who the fuck recommended this shit?! …Oh yeah, Yi Hayeon. Cursing her inwardly, I ran until the thumps stopped.

"Hngggh… Fuck, hng… This sh-shitty game!"

About an hour in? Now tears streamed as I crawled forward like a turtle.

Then, bright light ahead.

…No way, the thing I think it is? Hope rising, I inched forward— first cutscene in an hour.

…I did it! Safe zone! Finally reaching the first one, I teared up with joy.

"Hnggg… F-first bright space… Chat's visible!"

"Haa, haa… Lemme catch my breath…"

Annoying donations, but weirdly welcome— I didn't complain. Normally I'd curse sexual harassment ones, but today? Chat away, say whatever.

And yeah, I was shaking excessively. Chest hurt, so I'd been holding them steady.

I stared at chat for nearly 10 minutes, breathing. Playtime: 1.5 hours already. They said 30 mins total? Total lie.

"Wh-who said playtime was 30 mins?!"

Fair, my play was frustratingly slow. But scary's scary. How much more to clear? Feels like decent progress despite slowness…

"Guys, how far am I? Safe zone, so maybe 50%?"

"Fuck, what? Only 1/4?!"

An hour in, barely 1/4? …This is fucked. I'll pass out before clearing.
