Chapter 7: Issuing Divine Revelation
The “Faith Points” number that constantly appeared on the left side of the screen seemed to be an extremely important resource.
Whether it was the Demon God—who was also the player—or anything the player wished to alter in the game world, it all required the consumption of this value.
But the number increased at a painfully slow rate.
Back in the morning, when Viola led a group in prayer, there had been a slight rise.
Now, however, it had stopped moving altogether.
Reluctantly abandoning his attempt to pluck the black thong from the screen, Li Chengxi suddenly had another idea.
Since he could view Viola’s stats, couldn’t he also view the stats of other NPCs?
Worth a try!
Li Chengxi immediately moved his mouse, right-clicked on a knight standing at Viola’s left side—and sure enough, the same dropdown menu popped up.
The female knight’s name was listed as “Zola Pat,” age also seventeen, level the same at 25. Her title was “Captain of the Royal Female Knights.”
Her stats section looked very much like Viola’s, so Li Chengxi gave it a quick glance and closed it.
But the sections for Devotion and Favorability caught his attention—they were 70 and 50 respectively.
Suddenly, he felt a giddy thrill, like he was peeking into others’ private lives.
One by one, he opened the character tabs of every female knight in the conference room, then moved the camera to check out the guards outside, the maids, and random townsfolk.
He wanted to see their attributes too.
This led to a discovery—only characters with Devotion greater than 70 could be granted Divine Arts.
Otherwise, a message would pop up saying their Devotion was insufficient.
As for Favorability, he hadn’t figured out what it was for yet.
In other words, as long as someone’s Devotion met the threshold and Li Chengxi had enough Faith Points, he could directly bestow Divine Arts upon believers.
As expected of a game where the player took the role of a god.
This level of interaction really did feel… godlike.
Incidentally, when checking equipment, Li Chengxi was taken aback to find that the members of the Royal Female Knights had quite unique tastes—each one’s lingerie style was different, and for a guy like him who’d been single all his life, this was eye-opening to say the least...
But let’s not get into that now.
After surveying the room, Li Chengxi clicked on Viola again and selected “Talk” from the dropdown menu.
This time, a chibi-styled portrait of Viola appeared in the lower-left corner of the screen, along with a small dialogue box that popped up.
Li Chengxi picked up his headset, saying,
“Can you hear me?”
On screen, Viola had just been sitting at the round table during a meeting.
As soon as Li Chengxi’s voice came through, the chibi pixel version of her stood up from her chair.
There was a reaction! She could hear him!

“We’re short on craftsmen for repairing the city walls, and we’re even tighter on raw materials. Fortunately, right outside the city is the Lumlu Forest, so we can meet our wood needs. But getting stone is going to be troublesome,” Zola reported.
Obtaining stone wasn’t difficult—beyond the walls of Leon, there was a mountain range nearby.
Rocks were abundant.
The problem was that mining and transporting them required a lot of manpower.
And right now, with spring just beginning, planting crops also required workers.
If they conscripted laborers for mining, there’d be no one left to work the fields.
That would worsen the growing food crisis.
Listening to Zola’s report, even Viola found herself with a headache.
If only the wounded soldiers they brought back could help—but those troops were all still recovering and needed time to heal.
Yet war waited for no one.
The sooner the defenses could be repaired, the better.
After a moment of thought, Viola finally said:
“Let’s prioritize farming for now. To the locals, we’re outsiders. If we forcibly conscript laborers right now, it’ll cause significant resentment. Once this period of intensive farming is over, and once our soldiers have recovered, we’ll have hands to spare for the defense repairs. In the meantime, send out more scouts—just in case.”
The knights all nodded.
That was clearly the best course of action for now.
Zola added,
“Your Highness, it’s almost time for evening prayer.”
Prayers were typically held twice a day—once at dawn, between six and seven a.m., as the sun rose, and again at dusk, from five to six p.m. as the sun set.
Unless a specific god required otherwise, this rhythm was standard.
Having been busy all day, Viola nodded.
It indeed was nearly time.
Just as she was about to stand up, a voice rang out deep in her mind:
“Can you hear me?”
The voice felt like it came from the ends of the world, and it carried a pronounced “fat reverb,” striking her ears with a sense of overwhelming authority.
Viola immediately stood up, shocked.
“Lord?”
The other knights seated around the round table froze, all turning to look at her.
“It’s the Lord Demon God speaking to me. Be silent.”
The knights instantly silenced themselves.
A few clasped their hands together and began to pray.
They watched as Viola nodded slightly, as if listening to someone speak.
Then she turned to them and announced:
“Follow me. The Lord bids us go to the Chapel.”
Everyone stood at once, leaving the conference room and heading down to what had once been the Audience Hall, now converted into a Chapel.
Aside from attending meetings and inspecting local conditions, Viola hadn’t forgotten to hire craftsmen to renovate the chamber.
The Throne that had once sat at the end of the hall had been removed and replaced with a custom-built high platform, commissioned from local carpenters.
Mounted atop it was the clay slab Holy Emblem, tilted so that the waiting, kneeling figures below could clearly see the embedded Handprint.
With only a day of effort, this was the extent of modifications possible—but at least no one was now praying to a throne, which was quite the improvement.
Viola immediately knelt down before the Holy Emblem.
She clasped her hands together and assumed a pious posture, while the rest of the knights knelt behind her in a row.
“Lord Demon God, your faithful servant Viola obeys your command and has come to the Chapel. I await your guidance.”
She didn’t immediately hear that commanding voice.
Instead, what she heard was a series of light snapping and clicking sounds, crisp and clear.
Not knowing what was happening, Viola stayed obediently on her knees, closing her eyes and trying to attune herself more closely to the presence of the Demon God.
“Your hands, Your Highness!”
Zola’s voice cut in, and Viola opened her eyes.
The hands she had clasped tightly together were now glowing with a holy light as warm and brilliant as the sun.
Startled, she opened her hands, and in that brief moment, a great glow burst forth from her palms.
The light illuminated the dim Chapel, shining down upon every kneeling, praying knight behind her.
“The pain’s gone! Your Highness, my wounds don’t hurt anymore!”
One voice rang out, filled with elation.
The Royal Guards had all suffered various wounds during their escape from the Capital—some serious enough to need proper treatment, others just wrapped quickly with fabric.
Now, under the glow of the divine radiance, the knights began to unbind the cloths wrapped around their arms and legs.
Before their eyes, their wounds—large and small—began rapidly healing, scabs sloughing away and falling to the floor, leaving not even a trace of scarring.
“Divine Art! It’s Divine Art! Your Highness, the Lord Demon God has acknowledged you! He has granted you Divine Art!”
“Let us praise the grace of our Lord Demon God!”
Cradling the sphere of sacred light in both hands, Viola resisted her overwhelming joy and tried to keep her expression solemn.
“Gan!” she shouted.
The knights echoed,
“Gan!”
“Praise the Lord Demon God!”
“Gan!”
The noise startled a few pigeons nesting on the chapel roof.
Perhaps sensing the area was no longer suitable for nesting, they promptly took flight without even looking back.
It wasn’t her imagination.
This religion was definitely starting to get a little weird…
