Chapter 6: Extremely Outstanding
You don’t need to type out the full name when searching for a character.
You don’t even need to use Chinese characters—just inputting the pinyin will bring up a list of characters with the same name.
From the list, just look for someone with the surname Avarus and click their name, and the view will automatically shift and follow them.
And then Li Chengxi was like, what the hell—the moment he saw this, he realized Viola was already leading a group toward the Castle’s Conference Room.
So that half hour he just spent searching for her was a total waste.
No wonder the Temple or Church always arranges someone to be on duty.
Otherwise, even if the boss wanted to say something, no one could find them.
At this moment, the Viola on screen had already returned to the Conference Room with her people, and was sitting back at the table continuing the meeting.
Li Chengxi moved the mouse and clicked on Viola.
A dialogue popped up above the red-haired chibi pixel character’s head as she conversed with the other knights.
He picked up the headset and said:
“Can you hear me?”
But on screen, Viola showed no reaction and continued holding the meeting with her subordinates.
Looked like she genuinely couldn’t hear him.
So being able to hear audio—was that something he got wrong?
Or maybe she could only hear him when she was praying?
Li Chengxi scratched his head.
He remembered that earlier today, Viola had prayed during the morning in game time.
Did that mean he’d have to wait another day?
That would be way too inconvenient.
Or… maybe he was just operating it wrong.
After all, from experience with other games, you usually have to select a unit before you can interact with them.
Single-clicking the mouse did nothing.
Double-clicking didn’t work either.
Trying to drag a box to select didn’t work either.
Then he tried right-clicking—and finally, there was a reaction.
A dropdown menu popped out from Viola’s chibi avatar.
The menu listed: “Interact,” “Equipment,” “Inventory,” “Abilities.”
Even for an idle game, there had to be some parts you could interact with.
A game that literally does nothing would be no better than just watching a movie.
That discovery got Li Chengxi really excited.
But instead of rushing to click "Interact," he focused his attention on the other three options.
These three were standard features in strategy games—used to check or change the abilities and gear of characters in your faction.
He clicked on the "Abilities" tab first.
A window popped up on the screen.
Name: Viola Avarus
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: High-ranking Demon Race
Title: Princess of Avarus, Archbishop of the Demon God
Besides this basic info, there was a profile-style character portrait.
Below it, two red and blue bars were shown—clearly the typical health and mana bars used in games.
To the left of the bars, it said: “LV: 25.” Clearly her level.
But there was nothing showing EXP, so it wasn’t clear how far she was from leveling up.
The left side listed the name and level info.
The right side had two more bar displays: “Devotion” and “Favorability.”
Wait a second... isn’t this starting to feel like a dating sim?
Just saying—Viola’s Devotion and Favorability were both maxed out at 100.
He dragged the scroll bar.
Below the basic info, the data was organized into three rows:
Battle Techniques, Magic, Divine Arts.
The display style looked kinda like a spreadsheet.
The Magic and Divine Arts sections were blank.
Only Battle Techniques had stuff listed:
Basic Swordsmanship, Court Swordsmanship, Slash, Blade of Severing Gold, Blade of Severing Iron, Ability Boost, Strength Boost, Agility Boost.
These were probably the skill sets currently equipped to her character.
Just as he was about to close this menu and check something else, Li Chengxi suddenly remembered—a lot of strategy games let you modify a general’s abilities.
Could AAI do the same thing?
With that thought, he clicked on the blank section under Magic, and sure enough, a dropdown menu appeared—but it was completely empty.
He tried clicking a blank spot under Divine Arts instead.
This time, the dropdown menu wasn’t empty anymore.
It displayed a long list of divine techniques, with some names sounding ridiculously overpowered—from the classic Healing arts and Blessing spells, to others like “Wrath of God” and “Summon Divine Vanguard”—just the names alone made them sound terrifying.
Hovering the mouse over them even brought up a small window that explained their effects in detail.
That meant—Li Chengxi could freely add divine techniques to Viola’s ability list!
Without hesitation, he pulled the menu all the way to the bottom and picked the one with the most over-the-top name, giving it a left-click.
Then, red text popped up on the screen:
“Insufficient Faith Points. You can lower the Faith Point cost of divine techniques by bestowing them at the Temple.”
“Well, okay. That kind of restriction makes sense.”
If you could add skills completely without limits, then it’d just take a few clicks to build an unbeatable holy army.
Li Chengxi closed the Abilities tab, then clicked on “Inventory” and “Equipment.”
Her inventory was empty—as expected, since Viola had come to the meeting empty-handed.
The Equipment screen, on the other hand, resembled something out of Diablo, but had way more detailed information.
There were gear slots for everything—including the head, neck, each individual finger, even the ankles—all clearly visible, along with the corresponding equipment she had equipped.
Moving the mouse cursor over them brought up item descriptions, though none of them included numerical stats like in other games—you had to judge the quality based on the descriptions themselves.
For example, he checked the ring on Viola’s finger.
This is how it was described:
Name: Princess's Signet Ring
Grade: Accessory
Effect: None
Description: A signet ring held by the princess of the Avarus Demon Kingdom, forged with platinum and gemstones.
Used for stamping official documents and proving her identity.
The crimson sword at her waist was described like this:
Name: Crimson Fang
Grade: Excellent Magic Item
Effect: Far sharper and more durable than standard steel swords.
When infused with mana, it can emit magical flames.
The flames can also be channeled along the blade.
Description: Gifted to Princess Viola at the age of 15 as a coming-of-age token.
Crafted jointly by the Avarus court magicians and dwarven smiths.
A rare and valuable magical sword.
Not just her rings, sword, or armor—every item of ordinary clothing Viola wore had similarly detailed descriptions.
Li Chengxi went through them one by one.
And naturally, his eyes landed on one particular piece of clothing.
“Didn’t expect the princess to be wearing black thong panties... Hm. Extremely outstanding.”
This wasn’t out of any lewd intentions, of course—it was purely for academic research.
Crossing his hands solemnly, Li Chengxi stared calmly at the equipment panel.
A thought suddenly popped into his mind.
Since he could extract a ring from the game, that meant pulling out other items should be possible too.
And if the area of effect was small, it probably wouldn’t cost that many Faith Points.
So then…
Once again—this had absolutely nothing to do with any indecent thoughts.
It was purely for research.
Li Chengxi had to fully understand how this operation worked, didn’t he?
So he reached out with his finger, shaped like a pinching gesture, and poked at the equipment panel on screen.
And then, unfortunately, he discovered his finger couldn’t penetrate the screen.
A red line of text appeared: “Insufficient Faith Points. Unable to retrieve items from the character.”
Yeah… putting it honestly, there was a tiny hint of disappointment…
