Ultra-Shy Girl's Pocket Money Gig (4)
[Yangkku-nim. So what are you gonna do now?]
"Um... it’s super embarrassing when my family suddenly calls me by that name..."
[My face got sold. How are you gonna take responsibility?]
"It’s not my fault..."
The broadcast somehow ended without any more disasters. But the fallout from my sudden face reveal had already spiraled way beyond what we could handle on our own.
"Sua-ya... what are we gonna do? Uuugh... our faces got sold..."
Seo Yeon was checking her personal channel to try and contain the damage when she finally burst into tears. She kept repeating "what are we gonna do" while frantically clicking the mouse nonstop.
"We got screenshotted... clips are already circulating..."
"Uuugh!!"
I sat beside her, scanning the community sites with her, and vented my anger in protest.
"That makes no sense!! I was too embarrassed to tell anyone! It’s all because you barged in and messed everything up! Waaah! We’re doomed! I kept it secret from my friends too!!"
Tears and snot streaming down her face, she raised her voice at me. She must’ve been just as flustered by the situation as I was.
As we sat together scrolling through the communities and her personal channel, I learned more about the part-time job she’d been hiding. For starters, she was doing VTuber streams under the name Yangkku. She had over 400,000 subscribers, and it looked like she’d been at it for more than a year. I’d definitely seen short clips from her gaming streams and chill chit-chat sessions pop up in my algorithm feeds before.
No way that Yangkku was my sis!!!!
I’d always thought stuff like this only happened to other people. It’s not like family members secretly becoming VTubers and getting exposed is an everyday thing...
"Sniff... but my subs went up a ton... and the donations poured in..."
"Just from the random superchats while you were demanding snacks... 600,000 won."
"Hic?!"
The amount was so staggering I couldn’t help but hiccup. You can make that much cash just from showing your face once?!
"Maybe I should just graduate from VTubing and switch to cam girl..."
"But my face is already out there. Look at this! There are tons of posts begging to see you on stream too..."
She shoved her smartphone in my face like see?

Kyaa~ cute overload, huh...
I knew exactly what vibe the viewers were riding when they posted that stuff—it hit too close to home, making it hard to brush off the discomfort. I’d spent a year holed up in my room, bingeing streams and venting stress by shitposting on communities, so decoding that weird internet lingo was second nature.
They didn’t know my story. Obviously, they just saw me as some cute little girl and reacted accordingly.
[No way. Absolutely not. No way I'm doing cutesy aegyo with this girl's body.]
I shot down her suggestion flat. She narrowed her eyes and casually fired back.
"You always seem oblivious to how scared you look... but just that passive vibe makes you crazy cute? That's why people post stuff like this."
She thrust a hand mirror at me, telling me to quit the self-loathing and face reality. The girl staring back from the mirror was undeniably adorable, no matter the angle. My old short guy haircut had grown out to waist-length, and the playful energy had softened into this mysterious, demure vibe—like a blinking girl right out of a fairy tale.
"You popular with the girls at school or something?"
Her out-of-left-field question made me hesitate to nod. I couldn’t tell if they liked me for real or what their angle was. I’d lost the ability to trust people easily like before. Their "kindness" only came when Park Seongjun wasn’t around to guard me, which always made it feel fake and uncomfortable.
I was just a pathetic loser building walls around myself, turning into a total loner.
She nailed it while I brooded in silence. Glancing up, her vibe had shifted from the earlier meltdown over her exposed face.
"What can ya do? Thanks to you, I'm popping up in hot community threads—subs keep climbing, and the reactions are surprisingly positive."
"Eh, it's not a big deal when you think about it. Sure, I panicked and showed my ugly side, but you were kinda like me back when you were a guy, right?"
My memories of guy-me were starting to blur for real. Talking with Park Seongjun brought back echoes of how I used to chat with friends, but that was just my hunch. He always seemed annoyed with me anyway, and I had no clue what he really thought.
Ah, but still...
"Even I think you're gorgeous. You were pretty delicate even as a guy."
"......"
She read the whiteboard, then went quiet.
"Ahhh..."
Did I say too much? I didn’t want to show my family this gloomy side. I hurriedly erased the board.
No point dwelling on guy-me now. I’m a girl. That’s what I’d been drilling into my head to survive this far. No way I’d let my hard work go to waste.
I grinned like an idiot, crinkling my eyes. Truth was, skirts still felt weird, and the women's undies were just uncomfortable. If I let my guard down, I was wide open—practically flashing everyone. The guys' sticky stares made me hyper-aware of my defenseless body, forcing more girly mannerisms naturally.
Adapting like that always dragged guy-me back into my head, which hurt like hell.
"You sure? Half of that was a joke..."
"Of course. Dad said he'd be late too, so we should order delivery for dinner."
Steeled my resolve and asked to guest on her personal stream. No point half-assing it now—better to try, regret later if it flops. I wanted to beat this endless self-hate and social phobia. Maybe streaming would melt away my real-life people fears, letting me chat normally again.
"This ain't easy, you know? Can you handle it?"
"You were about to puke from nerves earlier..."
"......You're sneakily stubborn, huh?"
"Ahhh..."
She gave a faint smile, patted my head, and ruffled my hair wildly. Looking up, her face seemed much brighter than before.
"Alright, since we're doing this, might as well strike while the iron's hot?"
Eh? I meant eventually, not right freaking now?!
"You said you've watched my streams a few times, right? Take good care of me today~?"
"Ah... aaa!!"
Her meaningful grin sent uneasy vibes my way. And just like that, ultra-shy, twisted me started my part-time gig as sis's stream guest.
