Prologue
There was a time like that.
A time when I still believed this world was a novel.
A time when I arbitrarily saved that girl with her familiar face—the only one who seemed unhappy amid the beautiful scenery unfolding before my eyes—then vanished into thin air.
Even though I thought it was just a novel.
Feeling a strange pity for those eyes slowly losing their spark, the eyes of the witch who might one day topple the empire, I offered her a faint smile.
Tempted by that smile she gave me for the first time, I reached out with a helping hand once more.
And because of it, before I knew it, the witch had become a woman obsessed with me alone.
