The Armpit Shrine Maiden (3)
Author: Vticon
Hey everyone :)
It's your friendly neighborhood strategy guide, back again with another helpful Silent Story breakdown.
Silent Story has tons of gimmick-type youkai, and if you treat them like regular mobs and just swing away, all that time you poured into this hardcore game goes straight down the drain... T_T
Satori is the perfect example.
(Wait, isn't that the one?)
NO! Satori isn't a pink-haired pretty girl.
She's originally a monkey youkai that reads people's hearts and predicts their next move.
(Next you'll say XXX!)
Silent Story Youkai: Satori looks pretty weak at first glance—her health bar is tiny. But her AI reads the player's attacks in advance, dodges them, and counters with the exact same technique at higher power.
(Oh my god!)
So how do you deal with such a tricky opponent?
The answer is probably to use a technique that Satori can neither read nor copy. (Just my theory.)
Today I reviewed the Satori attribute strategy guide*^^*
Hope it helps you all! I'm wrapping up the post here!!!◝(⁰▿<)
Please hit that like and follow~
A black monkey had appeared at the bottom of the stairs at some point.
I’d suggested a game of Glico to the Black Monkey, but I immediately regretted it.
Well, no matter how smart a monkey is, there’s no way it would understand the mechanics of scissors beats rock, rock beats paper, paper beats scissors, or that winning with scissors lets you climb three steps while winning with rock or paper lets you climb six.
What a stupid thing to say.
I was about to give up on the Glico game and head back to Tsurugi when—
[Sa…to…ri…!]
At that exact moment, a cheerful reply came from the Satori. It sounded like it had understood the rules of the Glico game.
“Oh!? You wanna play?”
[Saaatori.]
It understands words? Was it raised by a medicine peddler or something?
I’d successfully dragged a newbie into the Glico game.
As a Glico veteran, how could I not be excited?
“Alright! Since you jumped in, we’ll start from right there, okay?”
By my estimate, we were about a hundred steps apart.
As the veteran helping a newbie, I figured I deserved at least this much of a handicap. Yep, yep.
I raised my hand. Scissors—
[Satori Satori Ri—!]
“Okay. Uh, rock paper scissors—!”
The Satori had shouted the chant a little faster than me, so I fumbled, but I still managed to throw in time.
The Black Monkey threw scissors ✌️. I threw paper ✋.
I lost. Well, beginner’s luck, I guess.
[Sa To Ri—]
Winning with scissors means three steps.
The Black Monkey climbed three stairs, as if it really had understood the Glico rules.
I respected the monkey for taking its turn. Newbies should always be encouraged with praise.
“Hey, not bad! Let’s keep this going.”
[Satori Satori Ri!]
“R-rock paper scissors!”
But I absolutely had to end that beginner’s luck with a harsh trial—! I threw a tightly clenched man’s fist.
The Black Monkey threw paper ✋. I threw rock ✊.
[Satorisato]
The monkey dashed up six stairs with a shashashack.
“You’ve got talent. Keep at it.”
I lost again. It stung my pride a little, but I respected it once more.
“I’ll be waiting for you at a higher stage.”
But on the third round too.
“That’s right. Games are more fun when you’re backed into a corner.”
And the fourth round as well.
“……I lost.”
By the tenth round, I still hadn’t won once.
I was starting to get nervous. This was weird.
How is it winning every time?
Of course, I had beaten Tsurugi at rock-paper-scissors too. It wasn’t purely luck.
I’d read the mistakes people weak at games often made, or used the little trick of slightly changing my finger position at the last second.
Hey now. That’s not a foul. It’s strategy.
[Sa…aaato…rii.]
But the Black Monkey couldn’t do that. Physically.
By now the Satori had gotten close enough that—
I thought it just looked like a shadow from far away earlier.
It had no eyes, no ears, and no nose.
It couldn’t see, couldn’t hear, and certainly couldn’t smell. So how was this possible?
More than anything, it never fell for any sleight of hand.
It was as if it already knew exactly what I had thrown.
I arrived at an absurd conclusion.
The Black Monkey is reading my thoughts first and acting on them?
So that’s what Satori awareness meant. It had been blatantly obvious, yet I’d realized it way too late.
Now the Satori only needed to climb fifteen more steps to catch up to me.
If it caught me, the ending definitely wouldn’t be pleasant. The best move would be to run right now, but……
I thought I’d found a fresh newbie, but it was actually a veteran smurf pretending to be new?
The sense of betrayal made my teeth grind. Damn it. So the rice monkey had been toying with me while pretending to be a newbie? I’d set things right.
“Black Monkey, I swear! No matter how many cheats you use, I will beat you. That is the pride of a true, fair Glico player!!!”
I boldly declared to the Satori.
Then I thrust my hand into the air.
[Satori Satori Ri—!]
“Rock paper scissors—!”
The monkey threw paper ✋. I threw rock ✊.
It was my loss, but I spoke to the Satori as it tried to climb the stairs. Maybe if I repeated it quickly, it wouldn’t be able to read my thoughts?
“Best of three! If you win all three, you can climb six steps!”
But I lost the remaining two rounds as well.
The Satori was now only nine steps below me.
Urgh. Wasn’t there any other trick?
[Satori Satori Ri—!]
“Rock paper scissors—!”
This time I threw scissors ✌️ and lost again.
I stopped the Satori as it tried to pull its hand back.
“Wait. Muk-jji-ppa. If you win at muk-jji-ppa too, then you can climb.”
I revealed that I had majored in muk-jji-ppa back in college.
I’d beat you so badly you’d cry your eyes out.
“Ugh.”
I lost as if by magic.
That had been my trump card! The Satori was now only three steps away. I desperately began searching for a way to escape this absolute crisis.
The Black Monkey reads my thoughts, but it seems like it can only read actions that will happen within a few seconds. It probably can’t read any deeper.
If it had read deep into my memories, into the abyss beneath them…
It would have been exposed to all kinds of disgusting images. Yep, yep.
There’s no way to beat a monkey… monkey… ah.
The equation for victory was complete!
“Black Monkey. Let’s begin our war game (Glico)!!!”
[Satori Satori Ri—!]
“Rock paper scissors—!”
In an instant, the result of the spine-tingling match was decided.
Me: Paper ✋ with both hands.
Black Monkey: Scissors ✌️ with both hands.
The shadow monkey began to writhe and twist.
Then—crack—shadow tentacles that looked like jellyfish tendrils burst out.
[Sa…tori…!]
It tried to climb the stairs.
I barked at the Satori, which had finally revealed its predatory nature. My palms were still spread wide open.
“What did you realize, you idiot? Did you really think you won just because I threw two papers and you threw two scissors? Wrong. You’ve already lost.”
[Sa…tooori…?]
The Black Monkey’s cry trembled.
I brought both hands together under one armpit, pressing my wrists against each other with palms still spread.
Then I focused my ki—gooooo—
“Scissors, rock, or paper—none of them can beat this! Here it comes! Enerugiii Paaaaaaaa—!!!!!”
(~🖐️0o0)~🖐️━━💥
I thrust both hands forward and fired the gathered energy from my wide-open palms at the Satori.
[Satore… nakatta (You… didn’t realize?)]
The Satori muttered as if it had sensed its defeat.
KWAGWAGWAGWAGWAGWAGWA—!!!

※This is just an image. The stairs did not actually break, nor was an energy wave fired.
I approached the miserably collapsed black monkey.
[Saa…too…rii]
“In the Glico game, the effect of the Energy Wave is to automatically win rock-paper-scissors and send the opponent who lost all the way back to the bottom of the stairs. Go down there and reflect on your defeat!”
There was definitely a rule like that.
I had sealed it away because it was too strong and would make the game boring.
The Black Monkey trudged weakly down the stairs.
I muttered at the back of the shadow monkey’s head.
“From now on… stop using cheats…”
Cheat keys always ruin games.
I had successfully protected clean Glico from the rice monkey!
While I was feeling satisfied, a woman’s voice came from above the stairs.
“—Hey there, boy. You were having quite a bit of fun, huh? Almost feels bad to butt in.”
No way. There really were people who referred to a younger guy as “boy”!
I lifted my head toward the voice.

! ! ! ! !
A beauty who looked like a college student was standing there with her hands clasped behind her head, laughing.
Red hair! She seemed like the cheerful older-sister type.
But what was truly amazing was……
She’s wearing a miko outfit that exposes her armpits!
Σ( Д )ﻌﻌﻌﻌ⊙ ⊙
Riiiiiiing~
A traditional miko outfit usually consists of a white kosode and a red hakama.
It sometimes gets forcibly turned into a miniskirt or swimsuit version, but a miko is originally a modest profession that serves the gods. Anything too revealing just doesn’t feel right.
So the real connoisseur’s choice is to keep the long skirt and long sleeves while only exposing the armpits, right?
Is this person the shrine maiden of the New Shrine?
“I heard you reached the Void. You’re Natsunashi-shounen, right? Nyahaha~ What a waste it would be to eat someone with a face like yours~.”
“Who are you?”
“Oh! I’m Akatora Taiga. What do you say? Since you’ve already come all the way to the shrine, how about sharing a cup of sweet sake with me?”
Today’s goal had been the Glico game, and…
Wait. Sake? Yuuki-kun is a minor. He shouldn’t be drinking, right?
Besides, Tsurugi was waiting at the bottom of the stairs…
Ah. Is it okay that I sent the monkey down?
While I was hesitating, Akatora added something else.

“It’s well aged, you know?”
Sorry, Tsurugi. I’m going to go become an adult.
