If You Can Beat Mina
"On our stream, Mina's the one who's good at games, so it doesn't matter if I'm not. You guys can't beat her either, can you?"
"I'll always welcome a challenge, though."
"If you beat Mina, you get to come to the fan meeting too."
"Losing to Mina is the same whether it's me or you guys."
"I've actually never beaten Jiyoung."
"Hehe. I've got a perfect record against Mina. Zero losses."
"I've never actually gone one-on-one against Mina. I'd obviously lose, so I don't."
"Jiyoung won't do one-on-ones."
"I'm the type who's happy just watching them. It's not like I have outstanding talent like Mina."
"If I played against Jiyoung, I wouldn't even be trying to win."
"I just hate it when people go easy on me."
"That's right. People of similar skill should play each other. No smurfing."
"But if you're a ranker, wouldn't you have a decent shot against Mina?"
"Would you two like to face Mina later? Today's not a gaming day, so next time."
"I'm always down for a match."
Getting into the room was insanely difficult when that many people were trying to join. Everyone wanted in, but the competition was brutal. Not that we could change the system — that was the only way to keep it fair. Among all the rankers, Siyeon was the only one who'd managed to get a slot.
"That's right. There's a gap between him and Shinye unnie, but he's still second."
"Is third place here, though?"
No matter how many times we called out, the third-place donor's chat never appeared. Maybe they were the type to donate and watch the stream in silence?
"Is stage nine really that hard? Mina cleared it."
"It was insanely hard. Felt like they made it so only pros could clear it."
"Aren't rankers pro-level players?"
"The game hasn't been out that long, so maybe they just haven't reached that level yet. There's not even a Challenger yet."
"I'm not trying to go pro or anything, so I don't think I need to try hard in matchmaking."
"Everyone except Mina is probably giving it their all."
"It's a hobby. I don't want to burn myself out."
"If someone who can beat stage nine shows up, I'll start trying."
"Mina's just flexing on the viewers at this point."
"But Animal Kingdom has been out for a while now, and I'm still the only one who's cleared stage nine."
"Someone will show up eventually, right?"
"I think the developers made stage ten so that nobody could ever clear it."
"I watched Mina do it, and it's true."
"Has anyone here ever picked up two or more of the same item?"
"That's exactly it. Stage ten has infinite of every single item."
"The developers are so cheap, right? Making it impossible to clear."
"The AI is different between stages nine and ten too, but you just can't win because of the item gap. Think of it as a lightning bolt dropping every time an item comes off cooldown."
"Just watching it, I thought it was straight-up Zeus. The lightning just keeps falling."
"I landed one. Anything more than that is impossible."
"If any of you viewers clear stage nine and beat me in a one-on-one, I'll give you two fan meeting tickets."
"I'll even give extras to people who already have them. But only until early June."
"I'm so jealous of Mina's gaming talent too."
"I'm the one who's jealous of Jiyoung's musical talent."
"Do any of you viewers have a talent you think you're better at than other people, like Mina?"
"I think Jiyoung's musical talent is more impressive than mine."
The world is a big place, and I think there are plenty of people with extraordinary talent. Most of them just never realize it. If it hadn't been for my sister, I never would have known I had a gift for the piano. And if it hadn't been for Mina, I never would have thought I could sing.
"I'll even give gift cards to people who genuinely think they have outstanding talent."
"That includes cases where a hobby or talent turned into a career."
