I Filmed a Couple Vlog with My Childhood Friend and the Views Went Crazy
I couldn’t say no to her.
My childhood friend had looked up at me with those big, sparkling eyes and begged in the sweetest voice imaginable. Please, just for a little while. It’ll only be acting. That was all it took. Before I knew it, I was sitting across from her in a café, cameras rolling, pretending we were a couple head-over-heels in love.
It was supposed to be a one-time thing. A favor for a friend who wanted to start a YouTube channel. Nothing more.
But the numbers… they were completely out of control.
The first video we uploaded hit a hundred thousand views in a single day. Comments flooded in so fast the server nearly crashed. People were calling us “chemistry goals,” “the real deal,” and “couple of the century.” Some even made compilation videos of the way I supposedly looked at her.
I stared at the analytics dashboard in disbelief. This was supposed to be fake. We were childhood friends who had known each other since we were in diapers. There was no way this much attention was normal.
Yet every time we filmed another episode—holding hands for the camera, sharing earphones on the subway, feeding each other desserts with exaggerated sweetness—the views climbed higher. The comments grew louder. The fan art more detailed.
And the worst part?
The line between acting and reality was starting to blur so fast I could barely keep up.
I kept telling myself it was all for the content. Just a performance. But every time Yoo Chae-ryeong laughed at one of my lame jokes and the camera caught the way her cheeks turned pink, my chest did something dangerous.
This was never supposed to blow up.
So why did it feel like the entire internet had decided we were soulmates before we even figured it out ourselves?
