Chapter Title: Creating a Commander
-------------------------------------
Without a doubt, for this world, the Taylor-Class Sky Fortress was a true game-changing weapon.
Setting aside how great a role it could play for the moment.
The sheer influence brought about by a colossus of such scale hovering in the high sky was already extraordinary. In fact, if Shen Yi wanted to, he could even use the thing to impersonate an alien spacecraft.
However, another problem surfaced alongside it.
A lack of people.
Although the description stated that the Sky Fortress was equipped with a central artificial intelligence, it still had many functions that simply couldn't be operated without corresponding personnel.
Did he truly need to recruit some support staff?
Shen Yi gradually settled down from his excitement of having drawn a grand prize, though a faint smile of pleasure still lingered on his face — much like someone who had been desperately short on money and had suddenly won the lottery.
His entire being felt considerably lighter.
In any case, with the Sky Fortress now in his possession, quite a number of his plans could be adjusted accordingly.
Just as one idea after another was flashing through Shen Yi's mind, Mo Qiu walked out carrying a covered dish.
"Mr. Shen, you're back." Mo Qiu spotted Shen Yi standing in front of the sofa at a glance.
Then she blinked.
She noticed that there was a faint smile on the other's face. Although he had smiled during their time together before, the smile he wore now seemed somehow different.
"I said I'd be back before dinner, and so I was. Especially with such delicious food waiting for me here." Shen Yi, in his good mood, made a small joke.
Mo Qiu's hands tightened involuntarily around the plate, and a faint flush of red crept across her face.
Praising the food she made was the highest praise she could receive.
She had also already noticed that Shen Yi's mood was genuinely very good right now.
"Did something good happen?" Mo Qiu set the plate down and was suddenly a little curious.
What sort of thing could make someone like Shen Yi this happy?
"Does preventing a plane crash count?" Shen Yi walked over. He could already catch the faint fragrance drifting through the air — it was completely different from lunchtime, this one carried the sweet richness of fruit.
"A plane crash... Ah, was it the one from yesterday." Mo Qiu also recalled the several disaster predictions Shen Yi had given the day before.
So that was where he had gone in the afternoon — to stop the plane crash from happening?
He really was incredible.
Mo Qiu gazed at Shen Yi with admiration, feeling something in her heart that she couldn't quite name, though she was certain that the look on her face right now probably made her seem like a starry-eyed fangirl.
Those were over a hundred lives, and the happiness of over a hundred families.
She and everyone else in the world could only watch helplessly as tragedies unfolded on the news, while he was able to go out and stop all of it.
"You're so amazing..." Mo Qiu blurted out what was in her heart, and her gaze seemed to sparkle as it rested on Shen Yi.
"Heh." The latter made a light laugh. "A small matter like that was just something I did in passing. What actually made me happy is something else entirely."
He glanced at the system again at that moment.
The remaining two draws had already concluded — one was Biological Battery Technology, and the other was a Nanoscale Digital Lathe. Both were only white-tier items, nothing worth paying attention to.
To have drawn the U-75 Model Multi-Function Combat Robot and the Taylor-Class Sky Fortress in this pull was already an enormous windfall.
Shen Yi went directly to the shop.
Any item drawn at least once appeared in the shop's listing, where it could be purchased by spending points.
He first looked at the price of the Sky Fortress.
Five million eight hundred thousand points!
This price hadn't exceeded Shen Yi's expectations — it was even somewhat cheaper than he had imagined. The Thunder-C Model Transforming Mech he had drawn previously already cost one million two hundred thousand points per unit, which was roughly one-fifth the price of the Sky Fortress.
Though the latter was a space-grade mech, and the former, despite its immense size, was only a planetside sky fortress — their levels of technological sophistication were simply not in the same category.
In any case, it was currently beyond his means to purchase, but drawing it was already a gain in itself.
Shen Yi then checked the price of the combat robot.
Ten thousand points.
That was a pleasant surprise. He had previously thought that if the robot was priced below ten thousand points, its usefulness might even surpass that of some of the more expensive items in his shop. At exactly ten thousand points, if its performance proved genuinely solid, purchasing them in large quantities was worth considering.
It really was good news.
Shen Yi suddenly extended his palm toward an open space nearby.
"Before we eat, let me test something first."
Whoosh—!
A silver-white combat robot standing a full two meters and twenty centimeters tall materialized out of thin air.
Its fearsome metallic shell, the crimson light emanating from its chest and eyes, and its towering frame — the sudden appearance of the robot gave Mo Qiu quite a fright.
But only a fright.
She glanced at Shen Yi and felt no fear, her mind even racing with a flurry of thoughts in an instant.
"Is this the thing that actually put Mr. Shen in a good mood?" Mo Qiu looked the robot up and down.
It had a style brimming with fantastical technology, as if a movie robot had stepped into reality.
Though she wasn't a science fiction enthusiast, she could still guess just how much impossible technology was packed into a robot like this.
The reason fantasy remained fantasy was precisely because it couldn't be realized.
"A little gadget a colleague just put together." Shen Yi gave a nod, effectively confirming it. "It might be of some use in saving the world, so I had one sent over to try it out."
He snapped his fingers briskly.
Transformation immediately began at the U-75's arms, ankles, and along its spine, revealing thruster nozzles. Deep blue light jets blasted backward, and the robot's heavy frame was lifted into the air with surprising lightness.
Spinning, accelerating, diving...
It performed a variety of agile maneuvers right inside the luxury villa.
This was without causing so much as a scratch on the place.
The powerfully built metallic frame and the movement that was as nimble as a gymnast's left Mo Qiu gasping in astonishment, her beautiful eyes wide open as she felt as though her horizons had been broadened in an instant.
And this was still only because she didn't understand the technology that made these movements possible.
The fact that it could keep such a heavy frame airborne without sending a significant shockwave through the surrounding air alone already surpassed the imagination of their current era by a wide margin.
By at least several hundred years, at minimum.
However, Shen Yi wasn't entirely satisfied with it.
He had already noticed that this combat robot's level of intelligence wasn’t high. They were, at their core, pure soldiers — they could only execute complex tasks under detailed instruction, and were incapable of comprehending orders that carried human emotional nuance or that were imprecise in nature.
However, he quickly thought of another item that he had drawn in the previous world.
The Tier-II Artificial Intelligence Module Array.
This item was priced considerably higher than the combat robot — eighty thousand points per unit.
But perhaps all Shen Yi needed to do was build them a "commander."
He took out the Artificial Intelligence Module Array directly.
It was an object no bigger than the palm of his hand, resembling a block of metal, across whose surface complex streams of data flickered and flashed from time to time — equally brimming with a sense of advanced technology.
-------------------------------------
T/N - Aw, so he can’t afford the fortress yet? Well, once the world doomsday starts, he should be able to rake in plenty of points. Hopefully he can get the full 7 billion by the time he’s finished with this world.
For now, an army of robots should be enough for him to cope with just about anything. Though, I hope his AI is safe enough from hacking and stuff. We wouldn’t want his robot army to be turned against him.
