Chapter Title: The Qualifications to Save the World
-------------------------------------
Most of the passengers inside the aircraft were still dazed, unaware of what had happened. The only things they knew were the blinding light that had poured in through the windows just moments ago…
And that they were safe now.
One hundred and fifty-seven people, not a single one missing.
As they came out from the cabin while trembling, they were immediately surrounded by a crowd of people, then they were politely ushered into a room somewhere inside the airport to wait. Some of them naturally noticed the marks left on the aircraft's surface, and they stood there dumbstruck one by one, not knowing what they had actually been through.
Only the captain and co-pilot had seen it all clearly.
Faced with the questions of the other personnel, the two were still trembling, and the look of terror had yet to leave their eyes.
"I saw it, we all saw it. That person — no, that divine being — his eyes were radiating light, he could command lightning, he seemed like the very god of storms. It was him who saved us..."
The two of them recounted everything in a jumbled, incoherent rush.
Had no one on the ground witnessed the scene themselves, and had the aircraft not been left with those marks, everyone would have assumed that the two had gone mad.
But as things stood…
Everyone felt as though it was the world that had gone mad.
……
Shen Yi didn't know exactly what had transpired after he left, but he could make a rough guess.
He had already returned to Che Yongchang's room.
This time, his appearance, though it still startled quite a few people, was altogether not as shocking as the first time.
"Mr. Shen, you're back." Chu Lin was still as warm and enthusiastic as ever. "Did you find anything?"
"The possibility of the accident being caused by supernatural forces can essentially be ruled out. However, I indeed had some findings. Certain parameters governing the climate patterns have changed. It would be best for you to conduct a scientific investigation and see if you can discover anything." Shen Yi extended his hand, and a deep blue crystal gradually took shape within his palm.
He then passed it over.
Chu Lin naturally received it with both hands, and the instant he made contact with it, his entire body shuddered.
The surrounding environment had changed dramatically in an instant.
Thunder and lightning raged around him, and wild winds howled unchecked.
He himself was floating in midair.
Had it been an ordinary person, they might have panicked in that moment, but Chu Lin quickly realized that he wasn't actually feeling the gale — he was simply able to see the scene.
"This is... Che Yongchang’s situation from back then?"
He had already made sense of it. What he was seeing at that moment was precisely the scene at West Asia Airport.
"An Imprint Crystal. I replicated the weather conditions from that time. You can take it and do some research." Shen Yi explained calmly.
This too was one of the witchcraft techniques he possessed.
"Many thanks!"
Chu Lin's eyes lit up. He took off his outer coat and wrapped it around the crystal to avoid direct contact, and sure enough, all the imagery vanished. This extraordinary sight filled his heart with excitement.
Though what Shen Yi obviously meant was for them to research the changes in the climate parameters.
But still — this was a miraculous object!
Was it some kind of magic? Or some kind of technology?
He could already picture certain titans of the scientific world going out of their minds.
Shen Yi glanced at him and naturally knew what he was thinking.
But all he could say was that the man was too naive.
Since Shen Yi had dared to take it out, how could he possibly be afraid of them studying it?
The methods of witchcraft and science were fundamentally two different directions entirely. Perhaps at some sufficiently advanced level, they might find a point of intersection, but certainly not now — and that was something he had already proven through experimentation back in the previous world.
"When there's news, let me know."
Leaving behind only that single sentence, Shen Yi's figure vanished once more.
He hadn’t even mentioned the matter of having saved the aircraft.
He had heard it just moments ago — they had already arranged personnel on-site ahead of time, and given the commotion from earlier, they would have likely noticed the scene as well.
And just as Shen Yi had departed…
Someone called Chu Lin.
It was the on-site personnel who had transmitted the footage they had captured.
In such a short span of time, there had been absolutely no way for the other side to lock down the internet.
It was only a small country, after all.
Before long, wave after wave of startled cries broke out within the room. Even though the footage wasn’t as overwhelming as witnessing it in person, it was still clear enough to see exactly what had happened.
The scene of Shen Yi seizing the lightning was like a hand clutching tightly around their hearts.
"How is that possible?" Some people shook their heads frantically, their expressions of disbelief plain to see.
Lightning was merely a discharge phenomenon — this was a reality known to anyone who had received a modern education.
Even the most audacious film productions would never dare to portray something this blatantly contrary to reality.
But what lay before them wasn’t a film.
It was reality that had actually taken place.
The footage afterward of the aircraft being dragged down to land was equally breathtaking.
Although they had known that Shen Yi possessed supernatural abilities, being able to do something to this degree still far exceeded all of their expectations. They weren't even sure whether this was merely the tip of the iceberg.
"I'd stake anything on it." Che Yongchang swallowed hard and pointed at the footage with a trembling finger. "Just this alone — just this scene right here — would be more than enough to send the cherished truths of an entire hall of scientific luminaries straight to their graves."
"If a truth cannot explain the facts, then it’s no longer a truth."
Chu Lin's expression maintained remarkable composure, but the fist he had clenched tightly revealed that his inner state was nothing like the face he was showing.
He spoke slowly. "Leave the matter of explaining things to those scientists. The problem we now have to face is that this video will make its way to the desks of various important figures within a matter of hours. West Asia... is nothing but a small country, after all."
Che Yongchang reacted sharply.
Although they had made preparations in advance and were thus able to obtain footage from the scene the very moment the incident occurred, West Asia was only a small country.
They clearly had no means of concealing what had happened.
Thinking of it this way…
That person had made no attempt whatsoever to conceal his existence, and he had even staged what amounted to a divine rescue of a plane crash — was his actions truly only for the sake of saving those hundred-odd people?
Had he let slip any additional information?
Something like leaving behind a "divine prophecy" foretelling the imminent arrival of the apocalypse?
Each of these possibilities corresponded to a different set of circumstances that might unfold going forward.
"Should we... go and ask him directly?" Che Yongchang looked toward Chu Lin.
Asking the person himself was undoubtedly the most direct approach.
But to be honest…
After witnessing the footage just now, Che Yongchang wasn't even entirely sure anymore whether that person was a human being from a parallel world, or a divine entity from another realm entirely.
"I'll make the trip myself." Chu Lin gave two light coughs. "You compile everything that had happened today, including this footage, into a report and send it up."
"...Understood." Che Yongchang could already picture the waves that would be sent crashing through the upper echelons once his report was delivered.
But still...
He looked once more at the footage — that silhouette grasping in its hands the lightning that spanned the heavens and the earth.
He couldn't help but admit it.
If the apocalypse truly arrived, this silhouette did indeed possess the qualifications to save the world.
That air of mystery and power was enough to give people hope.
