Spain and Portugal in their heyday as colonial empires. Britain and France at their zenith. People tend to view the rivalry between these colonial powers as cutthroat. A fight over power and spoils—whether to hand them to others or hoard them. But to me, the Supreme Leader living in this modern age, that was a profoundly misguided take.
Simply put: back then, Spain devoured everything. Now, Britain devours it all. And soon, America will gobble it up. That's the right read. It's not some petty squabble about territories clashing and sparking bilateral beef. Sure, the masses and armchair enthusiasts chattered about colonial competition, but in the real world? It wasn't that fierce. One side always held a clear edge.
The Seven Years' War, the Boer War, and so on—they prove there was some jostling for dominance among those colonial giants. Usually, when war erupted on the homeland front, colonies got dragged in. The colonies—what you could call the one true throne of ocean hegemony—now claimed by America. And America? A nation baked right into the colonial fabric, self-contained. So I'm angling for France's Algeria surrender—opposed by Eng, Fr, US now. High-risk play. No nation scoffs at intel. But timing: now or WW2 maybe. Else? Leak inevitable, France all-in block, bloody payback on foes. Instant historical rival. Only now: America uninvolved big, Germany threatens French survival. Britain eyes-locked after concessions.
