Chapter 73 - What's Got You All So Upset?
*Chop chop chop chop chop chop*
"Hmm... the reaction's kinda meh?"
> [The issue seems to be that the benefits to the gallery users are too small compared to the long downtime. How about adding one more feature?]
"That would make the time drag on even longer..."
Business as usual in the peaceful bunker. I was checking the notice I'd posted.
Timing it with the subjugation army's break, we're upgrading the gallery.
Expected downtime: 38 hours.
Starts two days from now at 6 PM. Take note.
Brace yourselves. Features being added:
• Map
• Coordinate-based map favorites for gallery users
That's it—three things total.
This upgrade's for my convenience. So gallery users only get the map.
Butthurt? Die then.
The notice I'd posted, slyly hiding the long-range trading feature. Comments were on fire.
Was it 'cause I'd spoiled 'em too much? They were griping over the meh rewards.
Map's super useful, right? Only a few who'd figured out uses were reacting positively.
Reading it all, I got pissed.
"Hmph... getting mad now?"
Unnecessarily mad. After all I'd done? Thought about dropping the hammer on these ungrateful black-haired gallery users...
But talk first. So I posted a question thread and waited for replies.
You know the notice tone's just a bit/concept, so not mad at that.
Why so full of complaints?
I haven't skimped before, and this one's for my needs, yeah?
Subjugation's rushed, so crammed with bare essentials.
Quit grumbling and explain cleanly in comments why you're mad.
Like in the notice replies? Might hurt my feelings? (ZAP! Glaring hero and hunk emoticons)
A flood of replies. Summing up: relative deprivation making 'em salty.
"Then don't be paragon," I'd say and ignore, but control's gone now.
Got it, so no head-smashing. Yet.
"But can't buy that."
How about selling everything? Even if you list items, it's their choice.
I shook my head, rejecting Sora's idea.
Give choices, some'll pick wrong—starvation wrong.
New food sales? After next year's first harvest. Now? Bankruptcy city.
"Will sell someday, but not now. Disaster waiting."
True, but...
Sora trailed off—rare for her. No easy fix, huh.
I swallowed a bitter smile and checked the habitual troll's summary post.
Hey everyone. Human woman here—writing's my hobby. (Bowing human emoticon)
Summarizing the gripes from Mod's notice today.
This ain't personal—it's for you all. Read easy.
1. Long downtime, skimpy rewards
38 hours for just a map. Great feature? Sure. But few feel it, so feels like nothing.
2. Paragon flex posts
Biggest issue. Normies didn't even know those items existed. Fine in ignorance. Then paragons flex, we learn, we covet. Hard to suppress instinct for new/tasty/wondrous.
3. Maps are state secrets
Precise maps = national secrets. Now public. Boosts life quality huge, but leaders'll suffer leaks awhile.
4. Notice tone
Personally, the spark. Your usual style, but enough to ignite pent-up salt. Even I felt a twinge. Off to write more.
Thanks for reading!
Troll skill proportional to summary quality. Comments fighting, but ignored.
Anyway, nailed the issues.
"Just salty. That's why."
Why's it your job to fix, Rain? No clue here.
"Haha, nah. Ignore fine. But no harm soothing 'em."
No food sales, obvs. Hand it out free? Later "why no more?" shamelessly.
Sooth the salt, but no wants granted. Long-range trade? Test next time. Shame.
