The Boss's Anger
The Boss's Anger
Since A-ra said she would handle the rest, his mind felt a little more at ease.
Why was that?
Even if some women were targeting him in such a frightening way, with A-ra beside him, he didn't feel scared at all.
Having a reliable wife was probably what this felt like.
But now, when he actually tried to go to school,
he felt a bit scared, thinking he would just get annoyed if he ran into her.
It was just a matter of not stopping by the convenience store, but was that as easy as it sounded?
Without coffee, he got so drowsy that he could barely follow the lessons anymore.
He couldn't live without coffee now.
"You idiot, then you can just buy coffee at a cafe before coming to school."
"That's one way."
He gave a mental round of applause to Lee Min-ho, who had suggested such a simple solution.
Whether he was the dumb one or Lee Min-ho was the smart one.
"Then you can try all sorts of different flavors."
"You're loaded, so why are you so stingy with money?"
"Because I have no reason to spend it?"
"What about things you want to buy?"
"Nothing really."
His phone was the latest model, his car a Porsche Cayenne.
The watch on his wrist was a Patek Philippe too.
What more could he possibly need?
"Guess there isn't."
"You've got it all, man."
"Honestly, I don't need any of this. I just need A-ra Noona."
"Whoa... you should say that in front of your wife, why say it to us."
"Leave him be. He says he's embarrassed."
It wasn't really embarrassing though.
He whispered that he loved her to A-ra all the time anyway.
"So what happens to that person now?"
"Well... A-ra Noona said she'd handle it."
"That person, there wasn't a single good thing about her in the rumors either."
"I heard she has two prior convictions..."
It seemed these guys had heard things somewhere too.
Chattering among themselves, they sighed and started packing their bags.
"You two are heading into the agency today, right?"
"Yeah, the Director said she wanted to see us."
"What about you, Lee Min-ho?"
"Meeting with some other creators."
"What for? A collab?"
"That too, and for program planning."
From what he'd heard, they were filming the first ever variety program to be released on Qtube in the Republic of Korea.
He hadn't heard the details either, but seeing Lee Min-ho not acting like it was a hassle, it was probably something pretty fun.
"Why, you interested?"
"Me? Could I do it too?"
"If you say you'll do it, the people in our MCN will go nuts."
"In a bad way?"
"In a good way, obviously, you idiot."
Saying, 'Why on earth would bringing you in cause an uproar in a bad way?' he rapped him on the head with his fist.
This guy occasionally hit him on the head, but strangely enough, it never felt bad.
Was it because they were close friends, or was it because he unilaterally felt like Lee Min-ho or Jeong Hwan-yi were like older brothers to him.
"That hurts..."
"It hurts? Sorry."
Lee Min-ho apologized plainly and stood up from his seat.
Jeong Hwan-yi looked at us doing that and let out a sigh.
"At this rate, you two aren't friends, it looks more like someone dragging around two younger brothers."
"Hey, no matter what, I'm his friend."
"So then I'm the younger brother?"
Just like usual, they bickered back and forth as they went outside.
"Hey, that person..."
"What?"
Looking where Jeong Hwan-yi was pointing, there stood his beloved car, the Porsche Cayenne.
For some reason, his beloved car wasn't standing alone; someone was standing beside it.
"Why is Seong Yehwa over there?"
"How would I know."
Since his car was the only Porsche parked in front of their department, it did stand out.
But she actually came all the way to his car and was looking around restlessly?
Clank, clank.
She wasn't just looking; she was yanking hard on the handle, trying to open the door.
He needed to get this on video...
"I'm recording, so stay still."
"Oh, Lee Min-ho, what's gotten into you?"
A small action cam was in Lee Min-ho's hand — high definition, high resolution, and high frame rate, yet compact enough to carry around in one hand.
"Oh, she's going."
"What on earth...? Anyway, this incident finishes that person."
With a somewhat regretful expression, the crazy bitch slowly moved away from the parking lot.
If she had really come to apologize, she wouldn't have tried to open the door.
And the way she was looking left and right, checking her surroundings, anyone could see she was about to do something suspicious.
A woman with a prior sex crime conviction trying to open a man's car door — it probably wouldn't end simply.
At the very least, she might end up expelled from school.
"But I heard she was supposed to be the daughter of some rich, wealthy family..."
"She couldn't possibly be as rich as your wife."
"Hey, don't worry. With me here, what's there to be scared of."
Lee Min-ho, the eldest son of a construction chaebol family, thumped his chest.
Even if he was the beloved eldest son, was it really okay for him to act like this?
"My mom must have taken a liking to you, because she told me to tell her if anything happens."
"Uh..."
"My mom said the same thing."
.....?
How did these two's mothers know about his business?
Even if he practically had no privacy, the information network shouldn't be that vast, should it?
He wasn't even a celebrity or anything.
"You two... don't tell me you talked to your mothers about this?"
"Of course."
"Of course."
The two answered in unison, nodding their heads.
At this rate, he wouldn't be able to show his face in public out of embarrassment.
"Why would you tell them!"
"We had to. What if something went wrong with you."
"Th-that's..."
"You don't have anyone else but us, right? We know everything."
The two nodded their heads.
No, besides you two, there was the Director and the lawyers and quite a few people, but...
Still, it was hard to say that in front of people who went this far for him.
"Are you guys nice... or mean..."
"Nice, obviously."
"We acted for your sake."
Was that really so...
He couldn't quite believe it...
Still, since they took the video, he decided to let it slide just this once.
***
"Director~"
"Seong-hwan ssi, you're here? Hm?"
He entered the Director's office, and Jeong Hwan-yi and Lee Min-ho followed him in.
Since the Director didn't know why the two of them had come, she was just tilting her head quizzically.
"Director. I think you should take a look at this."
"At what?"
"It's something we filmed at school today..."
Lee Min-ho had already taken the video off the action cam and put it onto his phone.
He held out his phone to the Director and played the video.
"..."
A long yet short silence came from the Director.
He hadn't done anything wrong, but for some reason, he started to feel like he had, just like when A-ra scolded him.
The Director's eyes gradually sharpened, until the corners seemed to prickle and gleam.
Watching the video without a word and nodding her head, the Director let out a sigh.
Then she took her phone out of her pocket and called somewhere.
"Team Leader? Could you come up right now? Yes... because of the matter I mentioned yesterday."
There was only one person in the company who could be called Team Leader.
As he gulped, Lee Min-ho, standing beside him, elbowed him in the arm.
"What."
"Do you think the Team Leader the Director's talking about is that person?"
"There's no one else it could be."
"Kheuu... a former chief judge is stepping in."
It was the descent of the former chief judge who had personally helped with the convenience store incident before.
Somehow, he felt sorry, like he was constantly causing incidents wherever he went.
"That person is getting paid for her work anyway, so what."
"Why is the victim feeling sorry?"
"Is that so?"
"We just have to catch that bitch and finish her off."
"Bitch..."
His language was getting rougher and rougher.
She was a bitch, sure, but you shouldn't curse in front of the Director.
"For now, I'll be talking with the Team Leader, so you three go to the cafe and have a coffee or something."
"What about me?"
"Seong-hwan ssi, isn't it better to be drinking coffee with your friends rather than listening in?"
"Mm... understood."
He had nothing to object to, so he nodded.
It seemed the Director had decided it was best for him to just be outside.
After that, he took the bottled drink the Director pressed into his hand and went out.
She said to go to the cafe and wait — did she mean to drink this while waiting?
"Ahh... that's refreshing."
"Bottled drinks really are sweet and delicious."
"I can't really tell the difference."
"I'm sure you wouldn't. Since you get them from the Director every time."
Jeong Hwan-yi said that one line and started walking slowly.
He seemed to be heading toward the cafe.
"Shall we go get dinner?"
"What about your wife?"
"She went to shoot today."
"Oh, toward the Chungcheong-do side?"
"How did you know."
"She started a mukbang program recently, didn't she?"
So that was why A-ra's face had looked happy.
She had looked a little dark at the thought of having to leave him alone, but for some reason, she had also looked bright.
If her face brightened because of food, then that was a good thing.
"I'm jealous. Going off to eat delicious food."
"Then let's go eat some meat too."
"Meat? What's the occasion?"
"I was really craving pork belly and cold noodles today."
Jeong Hwan-yi rubbed his stomach and urged them to hurry, as if the mere thought was making his mouth water.
The Director would be having a headache-inducing meeting, and was it really okay for them to go eat meat?
"Hey, with you here, what's there to be scared of?"
"Yeah, as long as you're here, she'll forgive us even if we skip work."
"Right, you were on the clock. Then meat can wait until next—"
"Aigoo, what's wrong with this guy?"
Lee Min-ho, next to him, put his hand on his shoulder, telling him not to ruin the mood.
And he began squeezing, his grip tight enough to be slightly painful.
"Ugh..."
"We don't want to do this to you either, alright? Now let's go to the meat restaurant."
"You guys are the worst..."
"Now you finally get it? Then let's just go eat some meat."
He was released from Lee Min-ho's hand and gained his freedom.
No, from the moment he was made to follow them to the meat restaurant,
he might not have any freedom at all.
They were men — so why did they like meat restaurants so much?
