The Resource Gathering Event Is Sweet! (4)
"…?"
Those purple bald-looking bastards had, out of nowhere, become a form of entertainment — watching them experience Professor Griyanaar's Heart-Pounding Bio-Experiments (Subject Edition) in full 4D was one of my pastimes.
And when even that ran dry, I'd naturally start poking around the gallery or the chat windows.
…You might reasonably ask what the hell a guy who ought to be sharpening his blade for a base siege was doing with his time.
But this was an event period, so player-on-player clashes were practically nonexistent.
Fleet power upgrades?
I'd already stuffed my Fleet Points right up to the absolute ceiling, so building anything more simply wasn't an option.
At best, there were the occasional neutral-evil trash mobs that still wandered out now and then — wild beasts, unaffiliated pirates, that sort of thing.
But even those got shredded without me lifting a finger, thanks to how absurdly strong our side had become. Under Tiamat's command — she'd been deployed for leveling work — our ridiculously overpowered carrier craft would just annihilate them. Or, failing that, ultra-long-range missile barrages spearheaded by Hresvelgr would vaporize any naturally respawning mobs long before they could so much as twitch on their way to the base.
…This is peaceful in a completely different sense of the word.
As far as I was concerned, there was genuinely nothing to do except manage things while browsing the gallery.
Fortunately, though, most other players weren't bulldozing through the early content the way I was. They were taking it slow and savoring the event — which meant watching their various acts of stupidity was more than enough to kill the time.
A few examples of what I mean…

My superhumans are handling the escort anyway, so it's fine if I poke around a little too, right?
I trust my supers ^^

Fuck off don't you dare
And the impact jammed my communicator in the doorframe and smashed it to pieces
Somebody save me
Users who half-assed an exploration with their superhumans, then accidentally got separated and ended up starring in a real-time solo horror game…

Die, Clan Leader!
[Screenshot of a player holding the clan leader up to tank a defense turret's gatling fire]
"Bring me a new shield, hurry!"
Clan leaders being used as living shields against beam fire and bullets by their own members, all because the clan decided to roleplay an adventure together…
[JPG of the two players who used the clan leader as a shield, arms and legs bound, dangling in front of a battering ram brought by assault troops]
From now on we're using these guys to smash through bulkheads yeah
…And clan members getting strung up on a battering ram and slammed into doors by that same clan leader. Between the players stumbling into their own events and the ones inventing brand-new events for themselves, there was simply no room to get bored.
And the next day, and the day after that, the gallery kept flooding with every kind of post imaginable.

I'm sensing jackpot energy
Holy shit am I finally about to hit a full ten-superhuman roster?

Fuck it was a dud
My "Dorothy" got injured and now she's getting hospitalized fuck my life
