Episode 171: 17. A Virgin is a Major Matter
After finishing the morning briefing, I headed to the Namdong-gu Police Station. The reason? Assaulting the district mayor. The scene of me beating that toad senseless had aired live, so they had no choice but to summon me. They begged me to come in, which is how I managed to schedule this at my convenience. I even picked the location myself, choosing the Namdong-gu station on purpose—because Namdong Industrial Complex was going to be my main base in Incheon down the line. Better to grease the wheels early, right?
"Whoa... why's it so huge? So many people too. Because of Namdong Industrial Complex?"
Looking down from above, the scale was insane. The headquarters building dwarfed everything around it like a giant among toys, and the grounds it occupied—including the parking lot—were ridiculously vast.
"Yes. Its location means it gets hefty annual funding and a massive budget allocation. Lots of manpower too. It just grew naturally from there."
"Impressive as hell."
And yet they'd let a massive gang den fester there for decades. Wasn't this place the real hotbed of corruption? Yeah, had to be. With something like Namdong Industrial Complex right in front of them, and they build a behemoth like this and do jack shit? What else could explain it?
"This place really is... something else."
"Yeah?"
"Even when I was on the force, there was always talk. People said all the bad habits came from here."
"Ho..."
"Nickname's the most corrupt station around."
"That's not a nickname—that's just straight-up trash-talking."
"Pretty much."
"Damn."
My hunch was spot on. No wonder a corrupt cop like Sua shuddered at the thought. Fine by me, though. For a guy like me, nothing beats corrupt authority.
Following police broadcast guidance, we landed on the rooftop AV pad. As soon as the door opened, Baekseol and the other secretaries stepped out first, and I followed at a leisurely pace under their lead. No pesky reporters since we'd landed on the roof, but a ton of cops had turned out to greet us. I straightened my jacket, brushed off some dust, and the accompanying officers hustled over to line up.
"Sorry for the inconvenience, young master."
The apparent leader, a young woman, bowed deeply right off the bat. Her subordinates followed with crisp 90-degree bows, like something out of a mob movie.
The most corrupt police station...
The police station sat right under the National Police Agency—police HQ. Structure went: Agency → Station → Precinct → Substation. The station chiefs elected reps to form the agency. In other words, stations were the real muscle enforcing police power. Most of the agency's boasted 300,000-strong force was probably held by stations like this. Insane power concentrated here, and yet its brass was bowing 90 degrees to some punk third-gen heir meddling in a few businesses. Sure, I had that minor(?) Goryeo Group detail, but it still looked surreal.
"Aw, come on, no need for all this. I'm not that big a deal."
The woman who'd bowed stepped forward two paces and bowed again.
"Thank you for visiting Namdong-gu Police Station, young master. I'm Chief Do Yun-jeong."
"Ah, got it. Do Yun-jeong. Nice to meet you."
I offered my hand; she grabbed it with both of hers, squeezing tight. Talk about low posture.
Right, the National Police Chief spot's still vacant since Jang Kyung-su got taken out.
No successor yet. Was that why? Desperate to borrow some power from above to climb higher? I didn't know the politics inside out, but a station chief like her probably saw this as a shot at riding the wave to a bigger seat.
Or maybe station chief's better? Way more boots on the ground to actually command.
Whatever.
"It's cold out. Shall we head inside?"
"Ah, yes! Young master! Right this way."
She straightened up in a hurry and nodded to her subordinates. A woman so poised and beautiful she could've been a model or anchor approached with a thick scarf. Short skirt, stockings, sky-high heels—pure eye candy, complete with that click-clack rhythm.
Damn.
Did they prep this on purpose?
"Just in case, we prepared it for you, young master."
"Ah, thanks. First time for treatment like this."
I draped the scarf she offered around my neck. Wasn't that cold, but hey, effort's effort. Glancing at her badge.
Senior Superintendent Kim Sun-ah.
Higher up than expected.
"This way, please."
"Ah, sure."
I walked behind her, eyes on that swaying ass.
Come to think of it, like 70% women here? Lady-heavy?
Chief was a woman. Scarf girl too. This was women's turf. And the most corrupt station... Headache incoming.
Summoned for assaulting the mayor, but not a peep about it. Chief Do Yun-jeong, scarf girl, and assorted female brass led me around, hips swaying, showing off the place—including women-only spots like the duty lounge or troop barracks, total no-go for outsiders.
"What you're seeing now is our pride: the Mobile Armored Battalion."
On a massive drill field stood twenty bipedal robots, about five meters tall. Too small for mechs, too big for suits—police standard mobile armor, basically a tank on legs. Even junkyard versions popped up in Namdong Industrial Complex reports; they were widespread. Surrounding them: riot cops in heavy rifles, thick body armor, helmets, lined up in perfect formation. Roughly a thousand strong.
"Elite unit I can deploy on my authority for any op in emergencies. This is just partial deployment—the full lineup's a real spectacle."
"Ho, is that so?"
"Our mobile armor shone in the Namdong purge you commanded too."
"Ah~. Heard about it. Executed the op flawlessly."
"Means a lot that you know."
Lies. Never heard a thing. Wasn't HQ handling it directly? Some guy with a fancy long-ass title ran the command.
Or brass loaned from here, troops from the station.
Plausible.
The tour dragged on. Her angle was clear: Snag me, and you get this army at your beck and call. Felt like a job interview. Chief kept pitching: "We've got this, can do that, over there's more~."
Better than an interrogation.
My goal was just sightseeing anyway. Plus, all eye candy? Any guy would've skipped it otherwise, but this? No complaints.
"All sleek and shit."
"Pardon?"
"Ah, no—hot stuff. Real police firepower! Gotta sweep the scum with that blazing heat."
"Hoho, right?"
Damn, random thought slipped out.
Gomuyeol stayed alone in the chief's office with Namdong-gu's Chief Do Yun-jeong. Something private to discuss, apparently. Sua had a pretty good guess what.
"Oh my, Sua... no, Chief Secretary now, right? Chief Im~?"
"Ah."
Waiting in the hall, a woman approached. Scarf girl—Senior Superintendent Kim Sun-ah. Prim ponytail, petite refined face, porcelain skin, slender ideal. Decent tits and hips too—perfect for guys into slim types. She click-clacked over.
"Been forever. You didn't forget me, right?"
Sua smiled faintly.
"...As if."
"Seriously, was thrilled to see you first time. Never dreamed we'd meet again like this."
"Same."
"In this form. Ah~. Things were great back then. Our teamwork—girls sticking together."
Sua chuckled at the memory. Kim Sun-ah: once her boss, taught her survival in this rotten force.
"Yeah. Oh, heard the news. You're engaged."
"Ah~. Yeah. Age catches up, y'know? Got a bit urgent."
"Congrats. Send an invite when you tie the knot. I'll be there."
Kim waved it off.
"Nah, no need to push. You're busy with the young master."
"Don't be silly."
"Besides, who knows with people."
"Huh?"
Clearing her throat, she sidled up to Sua.
"Heard you started as a cop doing secretary work on the side... true?"
