Chapter 666: You Can Make Trouble If You Want
Zhan Lian became the captain of this team, and Luo Feifan became the vice captain.
Following An Ran’s instructions, the vice captain led this group of fewer than a hundred people from the first floor to the top floor, checking every room and every corner, driving out everyone hiding inside. Elderly people, children, women, pregnant women, not one could be missing.
Zhan Lian was responsible for clearing the wood-type zombies inside the Grand Fortune Hotel. An Ran stayed in the tearoom on the first floor and had Flesh Flower devour all corpses so no one would stand up and turn into a wood-type zombie.
Everyone cooperated. Whoever caused trouble would be dragged away to become flower fertilizer.
Whether that person started the trouble or was pulled into it, An Ran did not ask who was right or wrong. She did not intend to figure anything out. As long as she saw two people fighting or even arguing a little, both would be eaten.
Anyone who did not want to live was free to make trouble.
Flesh Flower grew along the safety stairwell. On every floor, its presence threatened the survivors.
Under this brutal discipline, no one dared cause trouble anymore. Even if someone killed your wife or you killed someone’s mother, right now, just to survive, everyone obediently followed arrangements.
They really did find a lot of people hiding in various corners of the Grand Fortune Hotel and drove them all to the hall on the first floor. If a floor had a wood-type zombie, they either handed it over to Zhan Lian or lured it into the stairwell.
An Ran gradually noticed that after being around the wood-type zombies long enough, Flesh Flower and the wood-type zombies behaved like two beings minding their own business. You do what you do, I do what I do.
Flesh Flower, following An Ran’s coaxing, provoked the wood-type zombies, but those zombies had already mutated into a substance no longer made of flesh, more like wood. Flesh Flower could not eat them.
Instead, the wood-type zombies seemed curious about the fleshy Flesh Flower. Maybe the smell of its dripping slime was too strong. All of the wood-type zombies had awakened taste, but their levels were still low. They had not evolved to the point where they could eat Flesh Flower.
Ordinary plants could not eat wood-type zombies either. In fact, they could be controlled by the zombies. Once the ordinary plants were controlled, they became like spiderwebs catching insects, trapping humans so the wood-type zombies could walk over and eat them.
But zombies were zombies. They did not have human intelligence. They could not analyze their own abilities or understand what else they could do besides controlling ordinary plants.
Low-level zombies could not control mutated plants.
Just like An Ran could not control mutated plants.
Her connection with them came from a bond built between equal beings. This bond was not the relationship of husband and wife, mother and daughter, or friends. As long as An Ran did not harm them, simple plants would not betray her the way humans did.
They did not obey or disobey based on power levels. Flesh Flower was such a high-level creature, yet it still followed her simply because it wanted to.
In the end, everything depended on timing and affinity.
Through Flesh Flower’s reactions, An Ran formed a preliminary understanding of the newly evolved wood-type zombies in the Grand Fortune Hotel.
Later, she planned to write a summary of what she had observed and send it to Fatty and the others to review.
