If Anran wants the avocado seedlings to grow and bear fruit quickly, she needs to eat as much as possible. However, there is nothing suitable for her on the fifth floor. Besides her, there are also Chen Jiao and Hu Zhen on the fourth floor. With limited supplies, they will run out eventually, making it a priority to explore new resources on the sixth floor.
"Anran, you’re so brave," Hu Zhen says, a hint of envy in her voice as she gently rocks He Wen in her arms. A sad expression crosses her face as she sighs. "If I had half your courage, maybe my child could have survived."
"No!" Anran firmly denies Hu Zhen’s assumption. "This is a devastating disaster. Those who have turned into zombies changed long ago. The ones who haven’t will remain unaffected. It doesn’t matter when you leave the ward; the outcome would be the same. Don’t dwell on it—self-blame will only ruin you."
Once a decision is made, there should be no regrets; otherwise, one gets trapped in a lifetime of regret. When Anran decides to leave the ward, Hu Zhen wants to follow, but she has undergone a C-Section, and her wound hasn’t healed yet. How could she leave with Anran?
To help Hu Zhen stop feeling guilty, Anran hints that her child has turned into a zombie rather than being eaten by one. Only if Hu Zhen believes this can she avoid living forever in regret.
Anran pats Hu Zhen on the shoulder and says, "Didn’t you say you wanted to help me? I’m cleaning up the zombies on the fifth floor, and I need to throw them out the window. Can you help me with that?"
Hu Zhen hesitates for a moment, thinking of the zombies with blood holes in their heads, but eventually nods, agreeing to help Anran clean the fifth floor. "Okay, I’ll find a small bed for He Wen to sleep in first."
Hu Zhen wants to grow; her life is no longer just her own. She has He Wen to care for and raise. Seeing zombies scattered outside the hospital and knowing her phone has no signal—she can’t make any calls—she realizes that if she doesn’t deal with the corpses today, she will still have to face them tomorrow. So, Hu Zhen agrees!
Holding the now-asleep He Wen, she leaves the doctor’s office to find a small bed for him. There are small beds everywhere in the hospital; several are scattered in the fifth-floor hallway. These pushable beds, resembling serving carts, can easily be used for children once soft blankets are laid on them. Hu Zhen finds one and places He Wen in it, then pushes another back for Anran’s child.
Together, they find some soft blankets to lay in the bed for He Wen and Doll to sleep on.
Once both children are asleep, Hu Zhen goes to drag the zombie corpses. She aims to throw them out the window to provide a slightly cleaner living environment for He Wen and Anran's child.
Meanwhile, Anran takes a dull pair of scissors and heads up to the pediatric ward on the sixth floor.
