Chapter 577: What Kind of Mutated Animal Is This?
The child burst into tears, terrified. The old woman and old man lowered their heads, not daring to even glance at Peng Yu, their weakness painfully obvious.
Even so, Peng Yu showed no trace of compassion. He questioned the woman and the old man, his face darkening when their answers failed to satisfy him. Then, without warning, he slapped the woman—who was holding a child—flat onto the snow.
The child in her arms, about the same size as the infant An Ran carried, only around nine months old, tumbled to the ground as well. Fortunately, the snow was soft, but it frightened the child so badly that he cried until his voice nearly broke.
Peng Yu’s heavy snow boots crunched against the pristine white snow as he reached down, grabbed the infant by the back of his little shirt as if he were lifting a rag doll, and shook him. With a malicious grin, he threatened,
"I’ll ask you again. Who is in charge here?"
The woman on the ground screamed, kowtowing frantically as she begged him for mercy. The elderly man, terrified, also fell to his knees, trembling as he pleaded.
Several other women and elderly people nearby tried to slip away, but Peng Yu’s men quickly blocked their path.
The men laughed wickedly, taking delight in the suffering before them.
Behind Liu Zhi, Liu Shasha watched in shock. She took two steps forward, intent on stopping Peng Yu, but Liu Zhi grabbed her arm, blocking her path and whispered coldly, "You haven’t even cleaned up your own mess yet. And you want to interfere?"
Thens he frowned again, glancing at An Ran standing nearby with her child. Was she stupid—or just devoid of sympathy? Why hadn’t she gone to fetch her husband?
Suddenly, amidst the crowd’s gasps, nine white tails shot up from the snow, scattering powdery flakes into the air. In an instant, the tails wrapped around Peng Yu and his eight men.
Within moments, they were dragged down, swallowed by the thick snow. Aside from the nine motorcycles standing in the open space, there was no trace left of them.
"What kind of mutated animal is this?" Liu Zhi muttered. He had only caught a glimpse, a blurred shadow. White tails against white snow—where had they come from? No one could see clearly. What powerful mutant creature was hiding in this neighborhood?
He turned to ask An Ran, but she merely shrugged, saying nothing, and carried her child back toward the villa.
He asked the other elderly, weak, sick, and pregnant survivors, but they all shook their heads, waved their hands, and went back to their business. Even those who had just been bullied by Peng Yu acted as though nothing had happened, coaxing their children to calm their fear.
Some of the stunned onlookers—like Liu Zhi, who had only seen the scene for a few seconds—would have thought it a hallucination, if not for the row of sleek motorcycles still parked in the snow.
"That’s right!" An Ran, halfway back, suddenly stopped. Holding Doll, she turned and pointed casually to a few of Fatty’s subordinates standing nearby. "Those motorcycles are nice. Have Fatty take care of them, and get me one."
"Yes!" The men answered respectfully.
Liu Zhi, who happened to hear, turned her head sharply. What startled her most wasn’t An Ran’s command—but that those men bowed to her when they replied.
