Chapter 575: No Connection with Women
Chapter 575: No Connection with Women
As expected, someone was inside the doorway—a man. Amidst the icy air and dim light, he lay dying on the floor, his breath faint, as though he couldn’t last much longer.
"Hey, hey, are you okay?" Liu Shasha hurried over, pulling out an ordinary crystal core. She squatted beside the man, one hand channeling energy from the core while the other pressed gently against his burn wound.
The man stirred. His cracked eyelids lifted, and with a hoarse rasp he asked, "Who are you?!"
"My name is Liu Shasha. You’re awake, that’s great. Don’t close your eyes—stay with me. What’s your name? I’ll find someone to save you. Do you have family? Tell me who I should contact."
Her healing ability wasn’t particularly miraculous—perhaps her level wasn’t high enough. One crystal core was drained almost immediately, and before she could stabilize him she had to use another.
The man, though, only gave a faint, indifferent smile. His handsome face carried an inexplicable sense of detachment. "I have no family. No need to call anyone. No one cares whether I live or die. My name is Zhang Boxun."
"Zhang Boxun…" Liu Shasha murmured the name under her breath, committing it to memory. Seeing his burns knit back together, she quickly helped him onto the sofa. After rummaging through the villa, she found clothes and blankets and covered him carefully.
This man was strange.
She studied Zhang Boxun’s handsome features as he rested with his eyes shut. For some reason, a faint discomfort stirred in her chest. Yet the more she looked, the harder it was to look away.
Suddenly, his eyes snapped open, catching hers.
Her heart skipped, her face flushed, and she fumbled to cover up her staring. "How did you get hurt and end up lying here all alone?"
"Go find a few people for me," Zhang Boxun said, drawing in a deep, cold breath. The pain wasn’t as unbearable as he’d expected—this girl’s healing ability was surprisingly effective. "Go quietly. Don’t let anyone else know."
Seeing her hesitate, he added, "Don’t worry. I’m not a bad person. And the ones I want you to find aren’t bad either. An Ran—you know her? Go bring her here, and tell her to bring Zhan Lian and Luo Feifan too."
"An Ran? Okay, I’ll help you find her."
Liu Shasha thought for a moment, then nodded. Just as she reached the door, she paused, turned back, and pulled an apple from her messenger bag. She handed it to him with a sheepish smile.
"You’ve just recovered—you’re still weak. Eat something. It’s not poisonous."
Zhang Boxun looked surprised but slowly reached out and took it.
Smiling, Liu Shasha skipped out of the villa to find An Ran.
Meanwhile, An Ran was still at Villa 520 with Zhan Lian and Luo Feifan, repairing the roof.
After an hour or two with no sign of Liu Shasha, An Ran glanced at Luo Feifan, who was hammering away inside, and teased, "Your romance is so long overdue."
"Alas, I’m just not that lucky with women. Nothing I can do about it."
Luo Feifan forced a smile. He’d only come to see what Fatty was plotting. An Ran had already warned him that Fatty arranged some so-called adventure for him, but after waiting this long, nothing had happened. Feeling bored, he packed up his tools with Zhan Lian and got ready to head back.
