Chapter 558: What Level Are You?
Chapter 558: What Level Are You?
An Ran glanced back at Fatty and the others, thinking they looked as if they had never seen a mutant plant before. What was all the fuss about?
She hooked her foot under one of the white tails, pulled it free, and dragged out a flowerpot. Inside was a rose root, probably a few years old. She asked Fatty,"Is this okay?"
An Ran had never tried cultivating food crops, fruits, or vegetables before. She wasn’t good at it. Even if she managed to grow them, no one would dare eat them. But when it came to growing ordinary flowers and plants, she found it effortless.
"Okay, that's exactly what I want!" Fatty nodded quickly. This was perfect.
An Ran set the flowerpot on the ground.
The previously dormant rose root instantly came to life, sprouting and growing at a startling pace. In no time, it had spread across half the garden. A thick, thorny mass sprawled across the ground, its base nestled in the cylindrical pot holding An Ran’s fleshy flower crystal core. Its branches, like fluffy foxtails, tapped lazily against the floor as it shifted aside to make space for the lush roses blooming one after another.
Fatty and his men immediately slipped on gloves and pulled out knives, chopping at the rose roots. It had to be said, Fatty had chosen the right person for the job. The roses other people nurtured were pitifully tiny, their branches no thicker than thread, to say nothing of the roots.
But the roses An Ran cultivated were completely different. Each root looked as if it had grown for years—thick, sturdy, and perfect for firewood.
This was top-quality rosewood!
In ancient times, only the wealthy could afford to burn it. Not only did it produce no smoke, it also released a faint, pleasant fragrance.
In just over ten minutes, Fatty and his men had already filled a sack with roots.
Fatty paused, straightened up, and watched An Ran teasing one of the white tails with her foot.
He sighed, "An Ran, what level is your wood ability? I see you spawning all these roses, but you’re not absorbing a single crystal core."
"I don’t know." An Ran kicked away the thorny branch that brushed against her leg and shrugged. "Does this base even have a level classification system? If so, I could use it as a reference. At least then I’d know what level you’re at."
While they chatted, Fatty and his men filled several more sacks with roots.
In addition to harvesting from An Ran’s garden, he also ordered others to cut down every tree in the residential complex that could be cut. In weather like this, people who were already struggling couldn’t sit around waiting for leaders to take care of them. They had to find their own way to survive the winter.
During the entire process of invigorating the roses, An Ran hadn’t absorbed a single crystal core. But Fatty, true to his word, still handed her a large bag of them.
An Ran looked through the bag. Most of the crystal cores were ordinary ones, not particularly useful. Zhao Ru had long since stopped absorbing that kind. But they were still effective for Little Mint. With a little crystal core support and enough sleep, Little Mint’s abilities would recover more quickly.
Even so, as An Ran worked, she began to feel slightly constrained.
It was probably because this second-floor garden was filled only with flowerpots. To truly unleash her ability, she would need to go down to the first-floor greenbelt.
She mentioned it to Fatty, who immediately nodded and gave instructions.
One of the men rushed downstairs to start clearing away the snow. He also sent several wood-type ability-users to assist An Ran with invigorating the plants.
