Chapter 530: Heart Attack
Chapter 530: Heart Attack
“What’s so good about it?” Xu Li’er stomps her feet anxiously. “What’s so good? He… he doesn’t care about me at all. He just sees me as a toy.”
“But that’s your choice,” Wang Wei replies with a calm smile, genuinely unconcerned. “Miss Xu, I can’t claim to know you completely, but I do know this: it’s practically impossible for you to join An Ran’s team.”
Xu Li’er freezes, then asks, “Why? I mean… I’d fit in. Zhao Ru is the only water-type ability user on your team. I even saw An Ran queuing for water today, just like everyone else.”
An Ran queuing for water like an ordinary survivor—yet Wang Wei still insists they don’t need a water-type ability user?
Is this pretense? Arrogance? Or… something else?
“Our team isn’t short of water,” Wang Wei says, shaking his head. “Even if we were, An Ran wouldn’t want you. And if she doesn’t want you, then neither would the team.”
“Because An Ran doesn’t want me, the whole team doesn’t want me either? What is An Ran? Just a woman!”
Xu Li’er completely misinterprets Wang Wei’s words. He means that both An Ran and the team don’t want her; she twists it into a causal relationship—because An Ran doesn’t want her, the team rejects her.
In Xu Li’er’s eyes, An Ran may manipulate plants in battle, but she is still just a woman. The team’s survival rests on men like Zhan Lian and Luo Feifan—everyone can see their combat prowess. How much influence can An Ran really have?
No, this has to be personal. An Ran holds a grudge and is blocking her from joining.
“You never understood,” Wang Wei says firmly. “An Ran doesn’t want you. Neither does the team. There’s no dispute, no discussion, and no room for dirty tricks.” He puts away his guitar, straightens, and looks at Xu Li’er, sighing. He intends to ignore her, but his heart softens. Not wanting her to keep heading down the wrong path, he decides to be clear. “Think about how you looked down on An Ran back then. No one talks about it, but everyone knows how hard we tried to win each other over. Especially you—how you abandoned me when I was close to death. I wanted to see you one last time, but you didn’t even glance at me. This team values humanity. They won’t accept someone like you. Even now, I’m still not officially part of their team.”
He thinks Xu Li’er will understand—or at least realize it is impossible to switch from Fatty’s group to this one.
Instead, she sneers. “Today I discovered you’re quite sinister. You act like you’re making peace, but you’ve been harboring a grudge all along. I knew it. After all this talk, you’ve finally shown your true colors.”
Wang Wei’s heart nearly stops.
He… he speaks so openly, only for her sake. And yet she takes his honesty as hostility?
He feels as though he is about to have a heart attack.
