Chapter 510: See If She Cuts
Chapter 510: See If She Cuts
"I remember there’s a flower shop nearby." An Ran glanced at Wang Wei, then at Liang Ziyu, and said to Wang Wei, "How about you help me move a few pots of flowers?"
"Okay, sure!" Without hesitation, Wang Wei leaned on a branch and headed toward the roadside flower shop.
Behind him, Liang Ziyu sighed, looked at An Ran, shook his head, and said: "Honestly, I was angry enough before. But those three people are dead now, so I don’t hold it against him anymore."
Liang Ziyu had always known that Wang Wei followed him around, helping with anything he could — maybe as a way to atone. But Liang Ziyu was straightforward by nature. The incident had happened so long ago, and with Doll nearly five months along, he’d long since let go of his anger.
An Ran nodded, shifting Doll to her other arm and replied:
"Let him be. He just wants to make himself feel better. When something like this happens, people need a way to vent. If you don’t let him make amends, who knows how badly it’ll eat at him."
After all, to have the person who you risked your life to save not even look at you on your deathbed—it would make anyone curse themselves for being blind. If Wang Wei was stopped from doing something now, it might just crush him emotionally.
And as for Xu Li’er — her reckoning would come. That duel wouldn’t be long in coming. In fact, it was happening right now.
As a water-type ability user, Xu Li’er was practically seething. She was crammed into a truck full of women and children, her makeup meticulously done, and found herself irritated by the noise from the woman holding a child next to her. That woman had a four-month-old baby who wanted to go out and play.
In the dark, suffocating truck bed covered with thick leather, it was unbearable.
The child had been fussing since they boarded, eventually escalating into loud, unstoppable crying. As night fell, the smell of a dirty diaper filled the air. When the truck jolted forward, a pregnant woman accidentally bumped into Xu Li’er.
Finally losing her temper, Xu Li’er shoved the woman hard.
“The world’s ended and you’re still having kids? Are you insane? You can’t even take care of yourself, and you’re having children? Get away from me!”
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry."
The pregnant woman clutched her belly protectively, moving with difficulty to another seat with the help of a nearby woman. She knew she was a burden and had to be polite. Xu Li’er had been sour-faced since boarding, so staying out of her way seemed wise.
Unexpectedly, Xu Li’er grew even angrier. The more she saw the woman’s meek attitude, the more it infuriated her.
She jumped to her feet and shouted: "Sorry? You’re sorry? The person you should be apologizing to is the child you’re about to give birth to! You can’t even care for yourself, so how will you raise a baby? This is the end of the world — the end of the world! What’s with all this fake sentimentality?!"
Her outburst silenced the pregnant women — until one of them, less patient than the rest, snapped back: "You’re perfectly healthy—why take it out on us? If you’ve got the guts, why don’t you go say that to An Ran? Ask her why she’s still raising a child in the apocalypse. Why didn’t she just throw hers away? See if she doesn’t cut you down!”
