Chapter 500: Decide When to Decide
Chapter 500: Decide When to Decide
Zhang Boxun stands off to the side, his tall figure so striking that the women holding children blush and feel their hearts flutter. But he remains motionless, standing silently beside the bonfire. His expression holds an indescribable ambiguity.
After a while, Luo Feifan finishes chatting with Fatty, pats him on the shoulder, and tells him to keep enjoying himself. Then he turns back to Zhang Boxun, who stands alone by the fire despite the crowd around him.
Sighing and shaking his head, Luo Feifan walks over and says, “Go after them. They probably haven’t gone far yet.”
Lei Jiang has taken all the water- and wood-type ability users from Tang Jianjun’s unit, along with their supplies—and Tang Siluo, too.
Just before they left the community to kill the carnivorous flower, Lei Jiang slipped away. As for Tang Siluo, it’s said she went with him willingly.
But Xiangcheng’s roads are hard to navigate, and since the carnivorous flower has only just been destroyed, Lei Jiang won’t be moving quickly.
If Zhang Boxun leaves now, there’s still a chance to catch up.
Zhang Boxun doesn’t move. He looks up, his tall figure exuding a deep sense of desolation. He stares at the stars and lets out a bitter laugh, then lowers his gaze to Luo Feifan and speaks in a hollow tone. “The person she really wants to chase after her isn’t me—it’s you.”
Luo Feifan’s face shows a hint of ridicule. “But I don’t want to go after her.”
N times X years ago, Luo Feifan made it clear to Tang Siluo that he could never love her and would only ever see her as a younger sister.
Tang Siluo can be quite irritating. Ever since An Ran showed up, the two have been at odds.
Things escalated to the point where An Ran kicked Tang Siluo out without hesitation for the sake of Zhao Ru. That incident forced Luo Feifan to reflect seriously on himself—on how he always treated Tang Siluo. He was clear with her, yes, but never harsh. He let her overstep and always tolerated her behavior. That tolerance only made her cling tighter.
To be honest, Luo Feifan sometimes wants to slap her. Before, he held back because of Uncle Tang—he owed him. But now that Uncle Tang is gone, Luo Feifan no longer feels obligated to take care of Tang Siluo.
So when Zhang Boxun shows up for her, Luo Feifan doesn’t get involved. The more he does, the messier things become between him, Tang Siluo, and Zhang Boxun. A man should know when to make a decision. If you’re going to break it off, break it off cleanly—don’t give Tang Siluo any false hope.
With that, Luo Feifan turns and walks away. Tonight is a night for celebration—he wants to light more fires and keep having fun.
Behind him, Zhang Boxun watches his retreating figure—so carefree, as if he really has given up on Tang Siluo.
Zhang Boxun stands there for a moment, then closes his eyes in exhaustion. He turns, calls for Axe, and the two of them jump into a car, speeding out the back gate of the compound.
Sometimes, Zhang Boxun wonders if letting Lei Jiang take Tang Siluo away is truly the right choice for her.
Just like she screamed at him during their last argument, when she kicked him out: she’d rather choose Lei Jiang than be with him.
Even though Lei Jiang’s character is questionable—Tang Siluo chose him willingly.
Sitting in the car, Zhang Boxun hesitates again. He thinks—he’ll just go take a look. Just this one last time. He’s human too. He can get tired too.
