Chapter 493: You Have a Wife and a Daughter
Mutated plants differ from animals. While animals and zombies roam in search of food, plants are naturally rooted. They’re reluctant to move—especially those with long, extensive root systems.
So for a creature like this to flee, it must be suffering a critical blow.
That means An Ran’s guess is right. As long as they remove the wood-type crystal core from the flower bulb—just that, and it will die!
Overcome with excitement, An Ran shouts, “Mint, I need crystal cores!!!”
Behind her, her own tree vines stretch and grow wildly—grow, grow, grow!!!
The fine vines behind her rapidly grow, twisting together into a thick strand and launching toward the fleeing flower.
Little Mint has never seen An Ran like this. An Ran is desperate, and Mint won’t let her down unless absolutely necessary. With sweat on her forehead, she gets out of the car and holds out the crystal core in her hand.
An Ran doesn’t even glance at it. She places her hand on Little Mint’s, doesn’t bother to take the core, and instead absorbs the energy instantly and sends her vines whipping forward.
Like a giant python, they bite into the outer petals of the flower and hold it tight.
An Ran breathes a sigh of relief. Her guess is spot on. The juice in this carnivorous flower is incredibly nutritious—far beyond normal mutant plants. Its blood-like fluid is greedily devoured by her healthy vines.
Yun Tao and the others continue to wrestle with the obstructing vines. Whenever one tries to sneak into the entrance, they yank it out, break it on the spot, and let Luo Feifan burn it.
An Ran’s vines, hanging in the air like veins, absorb nutrients wildly. The petals dry up quickly, letting out guttural howls. She keeps going, sending her vines forward to latch onto the next layer.
Meanwhile, in the garage, Zhan Lian and Zhang Boxun struggle through thick roots. These aren’t vines, but flower roots. Even so, they can’t stop Zhan Lian or Zhang Boxun. They move like swimmers in a sea of snakes, cutting through the mass.
Thanks to Yun Tao and his team clearing vines above, they finally reach the flower bulbs.
“How do we do this?” Zhang Boxun asks, facing the writhing wall of roots. The core must be behind it.
Zhan Lian throws a knife. It pierces the wall. Then another—two, then four—until a hole opens.
He tilts his head. “Go get the crystal core.”
In the dim parking lot, behind the roots, a faint green glow shines. The core is just up ahead.
Zhan Lian is about to crawl in, but Zhang Boxun grabs his arm.
“Let me go. We don’t know what’s in there yet. You have a wife and daughter—you can’t die.”
