Chapter 447: He Must Be Alive
Chapter 447: He Must Be Alive
When Zhang Boxun later brings Tang Siluo to meet Tang Jianjun, the flowers have already overrun the hills.
Most of the guards are dead—eaten alive. Only a few dozen remain. Maybe a hundred, at most.
Now, Tang Jianjun’s group is trapped inside that residential complex, surrounded by a mutant jungle of vines and carnivorous flowers. No one can get in—except Zhang Boxun, a metal-type ability-user.
Zhang Boxun leads a team out in an attempt to escape, but when they reach the outskirts of the “sea of flowers,” most are forced back or devoured. In the end, only Zhang Boxun and Axe make it out. Tang Jianjun and Tang Siluo are pushed back and remain inside.
So Zhang Boxun returns alone to find Zhan Lian. Both of them are metal-types—but Zhan Lian is stronger. If they join forces, they might be able to rescue the survivors.
“You said the flowers are red?” An Ran asks.
Wang Wei wipes blood from his face, then kicks the back of Zhang Boxun’s seat and curses, “Stop the car! Let us out!” Then he looks at Axe, his expression troubled. “They’re not flowers. It’s vines. The vines eat people! Xiangcheng’s completely gone mad!”
Xu Lier cries beside him, her sobbing grating on An Ran’s nerves.
Hearing about man-eating vines, something suddenly clicks in An Ran’s mind.
“You said you encountered them near the Star District?”
“It didn’t really look like a lotus,” Wang Wei mutters. “More like a layered lily. But from a distance, it could pass as a lotus.”
Axe nods. “Yeah. If you look closely, it’s more like a lily with layers of petals.”
An Ran’s face turns pale. She glances out the window at the road sign—they’re heading into the Star District.
She’s lived in Xiangcheng for years. She wouldn’t mistake the location.
And now it all comes rushing back—the lilies she once cultivated, one of which mutated and stopped obeying her. She remembers slicing it in half, but its stem had crawled away.
Her eyes widen in horror. She slaps the back of Zhang Boxun’s seat.
“Stop the car! That’s a mutant flower—it actively attacks humans! You can’t just drag Zhan Lian into a warzone blindly and expect to solve it!”
Zhang Boxun doesn’t flinch.
An Ran tries again. “And think about it. If those plants are so deadly, Tang Jianjun and the others may already be dead. This isn’t something you can rush—we need to plan carefully. Trust me. I need to think this through.”
But what can she possibly figure out?—neither Zhang Boxun, nor Axe, nor even Wang Wei or Xu Lier take her seriously.
Still, someone answers.
“They’re definitely still alive.”
It’s Zhang Boxun. Quiet but resolute.
He presses harder on the gas pedal, his lips tight and eyes unwavering.
