Chapter 440: Get Its Eyes
Chapter 440: Get Its Eyes
This snake is just as disgusting as the rats—maybe even more so. Its skin is thick, maybe even tougher than that of the rats.
Only Yun Tao and Liang Ziyu are guarding the gate. Before either of them makes a move, An Ran’s fat thorn balls already rush forward, sharp light flashing as they collide with the snake’s armored hide. The battle between the mutant plants and the snake horde, enhanced by the metal crystal core, is a striking sight.
On the second floor, An Ran hands Doll to Little Mint, who clings tightly to her, then leans over the railing and shouts down to Yun Tao and Liang Ziyu, “You two, get up here! There's a big one!”
The words have barely left her mouth when something appears on the distant horizon—something that makes everyone freeze.
A massive snake slithers into view, its enormous body undulating as it swims forward like a dragon. Bone-white horns burst through the skin of its triangular head, jutting out like grotesque antlers. It isn’t thousands of meters long, but it’s huge—and it gives a terrifying glimpse of where mutation is heading.
The snake’s back is lined with sharp bone spurs, and it moves alarmingly fast. Within seconds, it reaches the front of the mall.
At the entrance, Yun Tao’s expression turns grim. He grabs Liang Ziyu, who is about to retreat inside.
“We can’t go in. There are only two of us here.”
Zhan Lian and Luo Feifan are off blowing up the rat nest. An Ran is inside the mall with the women and children. If Yun Tao and Liang Ziyu back down now—what kind of men would that make them?
Liang Ziyu’s face, smeared with soot and oil, twists in frustration. He looks at Yun Tao and feels a surge of grim resolve. The world might want to kill them, but they fight back. He grits his teeth and says, “Alright, Brother Tao. I’m with you. Tell me what to do—I’ll do it.”
An Ran sends more fat thorn balls to engage the snake, but they barely leave a mark on its thick hide. Yun Tao and Liang Ziyu don’t retreat. Instead, they rush forward with a plan in mind, and An Ran nearly jumps out of her skin watching them from above.
“What are they doing? What are they thinking?!”
She turns in anxious circles, the pain of absorbing the metal crystal core fading from her body. She grabs another handful from Zhao Ru, who stands beside her equally puzzled, shaking her head.
Everyone is tense.
On the battlefield below, Yun Tao and Liang Ziyu’s figures dart through the moonlight, circling the snake’s massive body.
An Ran quickly refocuses her plants, directing the fat thorn balls to clear away the smaller mutant snakes so Yun Tao and Liang Ziyu can focus on the big one.
Then, a realization hits her, and she shouts in excitement, “I get it—they’re going for its eyes!”
“An Ran! Look!” Zhao Ru suddenly grabs her arm and points at the massive snake below.
Even with the fat thorn balls enhanced by metal cores, they still can’t pierce the creature’s hide.
But Zhao Ru has been watching carefully. “Its eyes—look at its eyes! It’s locked onto Yun Tao and Liang Ziyu.”
Sure enough, the snake’s head is fixed on the two men, following them wherever they go. Whether it’s Yun Tao or Liang Ziyu, it keeps swiveling its head, flicking its tongue, clearly trying to judge the right moment to strike.
It looks powerful—but slow. Just like any oversized animal, its movements are heavy and clumsy. Big mice aren’t as nimble as small ones—and neither are giant snakes.
And in this world, one rule always applies: the eyes are the weakest point. Go for the eyes!
