Chapter 37: You’re So Narcissistic
Chapter 37: You’re So Narcissistic
“What’s wrong with you? Hurry up and sleep. If you sleep, I can rest too. Look, Chen Jiao’s son is already asleep, and you’re still awake.” Anran, looking exhausted and helpless, glances down at the baby in her arms. She can’t understand what’s wrong. Previously, she would sleep right after eating. What’s wrong now?
Then she realizes that her arm is warm because the baby’s diaper is soaked. Doll has peed a lot.
“Oh, you peed, and your butt feels uncomfortable, right?”
Anran places the crying baby into the blue light box, removes the wet diaper, and instantly, Doll stops crying. The baby makes a few grumbling noises, as if dissatisfied, then turns her little head and falls asleep.
“You’re so narcissistic, using me up and then ignoring me.”
Anran smirks slightly. The little distraction makes her headache improve a lot and lifts her spirits. Her brain is now somewhat functional, so she tosses the used diaper on the floor and begins searching the blue light room to see if she can find a new one.
Normally, littering is unacceptable, but in this situation, feeling her way around in the dark, she doesn’t have the mood to look for a trash can. Besides, the floor is covered with zombie corpses and skeletons. If she were to be meticulous about it, she’d make her life even harder.
According to the rules of the blue light room, children must be undressed, and parents are not allowed to bring anything for the children. Therefore, diapers, milk powder, and other supplies are provided by the hospital and should be stored somewhere in the room.
Thinking this way, Anran searches more carefully. With her attention to detail, she discovers a door in the passage outside the blue light room, which seems to encircle the room. She opens it to find a brightly lit space with fresh air—an operating room with a ventilation shaft.
Looking out from the ventilation shaft, she sees two zombies dressed in doctor and nurse uniforms, possibly taking a sneaky break during work hours.
On a clean sky-blue table, there are bottles of milk. The hospital’s standardized milk bottles are unlabeled except for hospital tags. Some lids are open, and some are still new, set aside. In a few hanging medical sterilization cabinets on the wall and small doors under the table, there are cans of milk, though they are domestic brands, like XX brand.
“The hospital even claims it’s imported milk powder for the kids!”
Anran looks at the cans of milk and mutters in dissatisfaction. Given her current situation, she can’t even feed herself properly, let alone be picky about the milk powder for the babies.
In addition to milk powder, the operating room is stocked with many diapers, disinfectant wipes, nasal aspirators, tweezers, medical scissors, and other items needed for newborns.
Leaving the operating room and continuing to explore the hallway, Anran finds another door. Opening it, she discovers a small, clean, and tidy restroom, possibly also serving as a changing room for doctors and nurses. A row of cabinets on the wall contains spare doctor and nurse uniforms.
Additionally, Anran finds a large box of chocolates and some lollipops in one of the cabinets, likely hidden there by a nurse for personal snacking.
