Chapter 33: You Really Are a Trouble
Chapter 33: You Really Are a Trouble
At this moment, in the dark blue light room, there’s no concern about whether the newborn’s milk needs to be freshly prepared or if it should be consumed within two hours. To avoid Chen Jiao’s son starving, Anran directly feeds him the warm milk.
Chen Jiao’s son, who has been starving for a long time, is very hungry. According to general knowledge, a newborn usually drinks about 30 to 60 milliliters of milk. However, Chen Jiao’s son drinks 100 milliliters from a 300-milliliter bottle. This kid might turn out to be quite the big eater in the future.
Holding Doll with one hand and the bottle with the other, Anran can’t help but smile as she watches Chen Jiao’s son fall asleep in the blue light box after drinking.
At this age, babies sleep after they’re full, which makes them relatively easy to take care of.
But Anran feels hungry!
She doesn’t know what kind of willpower she had before, but after giving birth, she has rested only for an hour or so before starting various tasks. She hadn’t felt hungry before finding Doll, but now that she has, she feels like she might faint from hunger.
She looks at the remaining bottles of milk on the table by the wall, which are still full. Anran hesitates, licks her lips, and then turns and slaps herself on the face, scolding:
“You’re really a sinner. How could you not find something to eat? You had to steal from the children.”
After scolding herself, Anran turns around and paces the blue light room with Doll, wondering what she should do next.
The zombies outside, which have not fully evolved yet, might have food on them. But how can she get out while holding Doll? These half-evolved, dazed zombies could easily evolve further, making it very dangerous to venture out with her.
However, leaving her in the blue light room isn’t safe either. The room is full of small zombies, and although they can’t crawl yet, they might learn to eventually.
Zombies outside do evolve, and no one knows how fast or into what kind of monsters they will turn. Who can guarantee that the baby zombies in the blue light room won’t evolve?
Anran can’t accept the risk of her long-lost daughter being in danger due to her negligence. After much thought, she places the sleeping Doll into an empty blue light box and begins to search for clothes on the zombies on the ground.
Among the five zombies in the room—a doctor and four nurses—due to the sterile environment requirements, it is nearly impossible for them to have brought any snacks into the blue light room. Anran doesn’t expect much; if she can’t find anything, she will move on. She also searches for diamonds that have spilled from the zombies’ brains and collects them.
At this point, Anran recalls that she has killed a few zombies near the large door leading outside, and their brain diamonds are scattered on the ground. After finding Doll, Anran is in the mood to collect these diamonds. She opens the blue light room door, picks up the diamonds, and searches the clothes of the zombies she has killed, finding some wallets, lighters, and cigarettes.
Looking at the pile of coins, lighters, and cigarettes, Anran feels a bit disappointed. These things can’t be eaten as food. But could the money be useful? If the world ever returns to normal, would this money come in handy again?
