Chapter 307: Don't Worry, Okay
Chapter 307: Don't Worry, Okay
An Ran is holding Doll and sitting in the back seat with Little Mint.
Zhan Lian is wearing sunglasses. He looks at An Ran in the rearview mirror, purses his lips, and says nothing. He drives the car, turns around, and goes down the slope. After performing the "magic big iron gate" in front of An Ran, he drives to District 3.
The reason why there are so many elderly, weak, women, and children in District 3 is because there is a rural clinic there, which is currently the only "hospital" in Tiesi Village that has resumed normal operations.
Therefore, District 3 is crowded with many elderly, weak, women, and children. Tang Siluo also likes to arrange the management matters for these groups, so naturally, District 3 becomes the place with the most medical staff.
A black car is driving on the road. At first, there are few people on the road, but as they get near the hospital, more and more people appear. There are women sitting on the ground holding their children, old people walking tremblingly, and miserable cries coming from somewhere.
It is a small clinic that seems to have been built many years ago. It is the kind of house used by residents and is later converted into a village clinic. It is very small, and if it weren't for the red cross mark, it would look just like a regular residence.
People in white coats are busy coming in and out, and it looks very hectic. There is crying and sadness everywhere, making people feel heavy-hearted.
Zhan Lian turns the car around in front of the clinic and goes straight to the back door. The back door is in an alley, and there are not many people there. He parks the car at the door and honks the horn.
A male soldier walks out. He is wearing a white coat over his uniform and looks like a military doctor.
"Take her with you and go with this man."
"You take her and go with him," Zhan Lian says, turning his head to look at An Ran. Since she is taking Little Mint for a checkup, Zhan Lian, being a man, can’t be much help. He will wait in the car. Noticing An Ran’s dazed expression, he adds, "I’ve already arranged everything inside."
"Okay," An Ran replies.
An Ran follows Zhan Lian's instructions out of habit. Holding Doll in her arms, she opens the car door and gets out, then helps Little Mint out of the car. She turns around and gently straightens Little Mint's messy bangs, then whispers to the wooden-faced Little Mint,
"Don’t worry, you’re just a little nauseous, right? We’re just doing a routine checkup, maybe some blood work, a urine test or something. Don’t worry, okay?"
"Okay," Little Mint nods obediently, without any emotion, and follows behind An Ran, holding onto the back of An Ran’s clothes with one hand with great trust and attachment.
An Ran holds Doll, and when the military doctor salutes her, she nods, follows the military doctor without saying a word, and enters the hospital through the back door with Little Mint.
Zhan Lian, sitting in the driver's seat, tilts his head to look at An Ran. She is holding Doll in one hand, and her back is straight as she walks. The back of her T-shirt is grabbed by Little Mint, revealing the saber on her waist. His throat moves, but his face is hidden behind sunglasses, so Zhan Lian’s eyes cannot be seen.
He just feels that this is right. In the end times, no matter where you go, no matter if you have reliable people around you or not, you can never leave your knife. His ex-wife has grown up very fast at an almost cruel speed.
The clinic still smells of disinfectant. The corridors are filled with beds, and people lie groaning in pain. Most of the doctors and nurses are busy taking temperatures everywhere. Anyone with a high temperature is taken away by people in military uniforms and white coats.
