Chapter 294: What Does It Have to Do with Me
Chapter 294: What Does It Have to Do with Me
Tang Jianjun’s power is limited. Before the apocalypse, he holds a high military rank and commands thousands of troops. But after the world falls apart, who listens to his orders, except for the remaining soldiers who still follow military discipline?
Now, only about a thousand soldiers remain under military control in Tiesi Village. These are men like Zhan Lian, who hear the radio broadcast and make their way to northern Hubei. The original military structure has long since collapsed. These thousand soldiers have been divided into four teams, each with a captain leading around 250 men to handle security and patrols in the four districts.
Tang Jianjun isn’t too worried about them. He trusts Luo Feifan and Zhan Lian’s abilities, and with his daughter and the captain of District 2 among his closest allies, there is no problem on that front.
The real issue is the survivor teams. The current chaos in Tiesi Village stems entirely from them.
So, Tang Jianjun simply stops caring. He has reached his limit.
He assigns the military-controlled forces of Tiesi Village to retrieve food, but the supplies will only go to the elderly, the weak, the sick, the disabled, pregnant women, soldiers, military dependents, and medical staff. Everyone else—meaning the survivor teams—will have to fend for themselves. He has no interest in listening to their endless disputes.
All in all, only two to three thousand people in Tiesi Village qualify for military rations. About a thousand of them—primarily the elderly, disabled, and pregnant women—are completely dependent on aid. They have no ability to gather food on their own, so Tang Jianjun considers them his responsibility.
Soldiers, military dependents, and medical personnel, on the other hand, contribute to the village’s survival. Ensuring their welfare is a given.
As for the survivor teams?
If they have the energy to argue, they have the energy to be self-sufficient.
With that, Tang Jianjun storms out, ending the meeting on a sour note.
Zhan Lian lets out a quiet sigh of relief, stands up, and leaves without a word. Luo Feifan follows close behind him. But before they can get far, a voice calls out behind them.
"Brother Lian! Brother Lian, wait!"
Zhan Lian, still clad in a short-sleeved T-shirt, turns around mid-conversation with Luo Feifan. Frowning slightly, he stands in the moonlight and watches as Tang Siluo hurries toward him, running out of the brightly lit room.
"Brother Lian." Tang Siluo, dressed in a short-sleeved military uniform, stops in front of him and asks, "Is my sister-in-law okay? I heard that you let Yun Tao go. Why did you let him go? He bullied my sister-in-law so much—it wouldn’t have been too much to kill him."
Inside, the survivor team leaders are filing out of the meeting room. Upon hearing this, many of them slow their steps. It’s as if they have already heard rumors about the situation and are now glancing at Zhan Lian with a mix of sympathy and curiosity.
Zhan Lian’s sharp gaze sweeps over the gathered leaders, his irritation barely concealed. He turns to Tang Siluo and, without hesitation, asks coldly:
"I told you before—what is your relationship with me? Are you planning to switch targets and become my wife now?" His voice is calm, but the words are like knives. "Don’t meddle in Yun Tao’s affairs. If you have time to stick your nose into other people’s business, focus on your Luo Feifan instead."
On the other side, Luo Feifan—who has just been dragged into the conversation for no reason—clenches a fist and coughs. Lowering his voice, he mutters, "What does it have to do with me?"
He has nothing to do with Tang Siluo. Why is Zhan Lian dragging him into this mess?
Luo Feifan feels deeply wronged. But with so many survivor team leaders watching, he can’t just throw Tang Siluo under the bus. So he keeps his voice low, trying to avoid drawing more attention.
Not everyone is like Tang Siluo, whose voice naturally carries across a room.
