Chapter 230: Divide the Poop into Several Pieces
As Anran retreats up the escalator, a sudden alarm rings in her mind. Instinctively, she draws the knife from her waist. A flash of green enters her vision. Without hesitation, she swings her blade, slicing the stem of the ability user flower in half. Both the severed flower and its stem fall onto the black escalator.
The thick green stem, about the size of a baby's arm, writhes like a snake on the ground before quickly vanishing into the sea of flowers. The petals remain motionless where they have fallen, lifeless like a discarded object.
Anran steps forward and crushes the petals beneath her foot. Then, turning back to the sea of white lilies, she reaches out and forcibly breaks off a flower. A sharp cry of pain echoes in her mind. Without lingering, she hurries back to the second floor.
The severed ability user stem has escaped, but there is no time to track it down. The copper-skinned, iron-boned zombie is already approaching the mall. Searching for a snake-like flower stem in the vast expanse of flowers is simply impossible at this moment.
Dragging the wailing lily in her grasp, Anran quickly makes her way to the stairs opposite Door No. 3. Raising the flower, she calls out, "Stop crying! I'm planting you right now!"
Yun Tao, who is at the stairs leading Hengheng in slaughtering zombies and capturing olfactory zombies, tilts his head at her, a look of confusion in his eyes. He has no idea who Anran is talking to.
Several olfactory zombies have already been captured. Yun Tao has gagged them, tied their hands behind their backs, and secured them together like a bundle of dumplings. Each of them wears a diaper that Hengheng, Yun Tao, and Little Mint have urinated on.
Of course, with so many olfactory zombies, the urine of just three or four people isn’t enough. However, human waste isn’t limited to just urine—poop also carries a strong smell that stimulates the olfactory zombies. So Yun Tao divides the poop into several pieces, placing one on each diaper, ensuring that all the captured olfactory zombies have a sufficient scent to draw attention.
As soon as the crying in Anran’s head ceases, she focuses her energy, channeling it entirely into the lily in her hand. The lily, which has been full of grievances, immediately reacts with joy, like a child receiving candy. Its two leaves stretch out, and the entire flower begins to grow rapidly.
A zombie suddenly leaps over Yun Tao, lunging straight at Anran.
Without hesitation, the lily turns its head, expands its petals, and snaps its jaws shut around the zombie, devouring it in one bite.
Anran places the lily on the ground. Its roots quickly dig into the zombie’s body, rapidly multiplying into clusters of flowers. The roots intertwine and spread, following Anran’s intent, extending from the stairs on the second floor down to the ground floor, creating a field of lilies that immediately begin feasting on the zombies below.
With her current ability, Anran can only control the lilies within a limited area. However, this range has expanded significantly from the initial two or three square meters. Beyond this controlled area, the lilies still appear as ordinary, lifeless flowers.
Whether these lilies, growing from zombie corpses, will eventually mutate into something like the previous ability user flower—one that can eat zombies and humans alike, unaffected by Anran’s powers—is unknown.
Anran lacks the ability to foresee the future. She is still in the experimental phase with her abilities, so there is no way to tell what will happen.
For now, all that matters is that her power is more than enough to clear the path.
With the stairs secured, Yun Tao carries Hengheng and goes to search for supplies. Little Mint transports all the bags of collected goods to the stairs before running back to the second floor to find food.
