They don’t mindlessly follow the trench’s path out—they lock onto a specific person’s scent and, if they stray too far, instinctively turn back. This disrupts the entire herding strategy, as these zombies refuse to move in the intended direction.
To prevent chaos, the cordon defenders focus on eliminating any zombies that turn around.
A closer look at these defenders reveals something interesting—they are all power-type superhumans. This indicates that, despite the harsh conditions of the apocalypse, a significant number of survivors have awakened strength-based abilities.
For them, killing zombies is straightforward. Standing atop reinforced vehicles, they wield long poles with blades affixed to the ends. If a zombie hesitates or wanders aimlessly in the trench, they strike from a distance, skewering the undead through the skull.

As long as they can manage, they will rescue those in need.
Thus, even amid the chaos, the guards clear a small opening, allowing the battered car to rush inside.
The moment the vehicle screeches to a halt, its twisted door swings open, and a man tumbles out.
Ignoring his injuries, he staggers to his feet, sprinting toward the cordon with frantic desperation. His voice rings out in a mixture of exhaustion and relief—
