Chapter 162: Look!
Chapter 162: Look!
Compared to zombies, humans can exploit flaws, while zombies cannot. Right now, Yun Tao is surrounded by at least ten men, and, shockingly, every one of them is a power user.
Distracted for just a moment, Yun Tao takes a knife to his lower back. Gritting his teeth, he covers the wound with one hand, raises his machete with the other, and spins around to strike down one of Green Dragon’s subordinates.
The crowd erupts with fury. Leading the attackers is a man from Green Dragon, clearly no ordinary power user. His abilities surpass the others—if the rest are first-level power users, the Green Dragon tattooed man is undoubtedly second-level. He charges into the fray, engaging Yun Tao in one-on-one combat.
Despite his brutish demeanor, the Green Dragon tattooed man’s movements—his dodges and strikes—carry the precision of a trained martial artist.
Yun Tao, however, doesn’t have the luxury of focusing on just one opponent. The other attackers, all power users, press in from every direction. He fends them off while grappling with the Green Dragon tattooed man. Occasionally, Yun Tao spots an opening in the chaos and turns to shout at Anran, "Go!!! Go!!!"
Anran, close to tears, struggles with the car. The engine won’t start. What can she do?
Suddenly, the car jerks as something slams into the door. Inside, Liu Yuan screams in fright, and the baby, who had been sleeping soundly in the basket, lets out a distressed whimper. Anran glances outside to see several men clawing at the car doors, attempting to force them open. When they notice her looking, they respond with obscene gestures.
Failing to break the windows, one of the men fetches a wire to pick the car’s lock.
Trapped inside, Anran and Liu Yuan are like turtles in a jar, with no escape. Behind them, a vehicle blocks the exit of the gas station, cutting off their only route out. Though the zombies outside haven’t breached the perimeter yet, the situation is dire.
Anran assesses the group of attackers. There are at least 10 or 20 of them, a mix of people with hardened, vicious expressions.
It’s the apocalypse, after all, and most survivor groups are small, often no more than a dozen people. Statistically, such a group might only have two or three power users. Yet here, in this gas station, every single attacker possesses powers. Something about this is deeply unnatural. Could there be a larger survivor team nearby?
In front of the car, Yun Tao’s situation is growing increasingly grim. He’s been stabbed multiple times, and blood pours from his wounds.
Anran takes a deep breath, determination hardening her expression. She turns to Liu Yuan and hands her the car key.
“Sister Yuan, lock the doors and take care of the baby,” she says firmly.
With her other hand, she grabs the pink Powder Snow Mountain plant from the dashboard.
Before Liu Yuan can protest, Anran flings open the car door, kicks down the man trying to climb in, and scrambles onto the car roof. One hand grips the Powder Snow Mountain, the other clutches the knife at her waist.
Her voice cuts through the chaos, sharp and commanding: “Stop fighting! Look!”
The men attacking Yun Tao pause and turn toward her, their gazes drawn to the Powder Snow Mountain in her hand.
The small plant changes. Before their eyes, its branches sprout leaves, roots stretch outward, and it begins to grow at a visible speed. In seconds, what was once a modest potted plant transforms into a lush garden, vines spreading across the car roof.
“Stop fighting!” Anran shouts again. “Look! I’ll show you a magic trick!”
Her voice holds an urgency that commands attention, mixed with a strange sense of confidence.
For a moment, everyone freezes, captivated by the spectacle.
