Chapter 143: A Big Explosion of Personality
Chapter 143: A Big Explosion of Personality
So what are these crystal cores used for?
Anran thinks they are incredibly beautiful. If society returns to normal in the future, could these crystal cores be sold for money like diamonds?
If these diamonds and crystal cores can be turned into jewelry, rings, and the like, then she will be set for life with all the ones she has collected.
Anran suddenly imagines herself as a nouveau riche. She picks up the plastic bag and idly plays with a handful of crystal cores in her hand, yawning. She lies back on the sofa, still holding the bag filled with cores. It is a large bag—full to the brim with crystal cores.
She holds a handful of them in her palm, slowly pinching the small, smooth particles. Her eyelids grow heavy, and before she realizes it, she has fallen asleep from exhaustion.
This sleep isn’t very peaceful. Anran has vivid dreams all night. She dreams that her ex-husband comes back during the Mid-Autumn Festival, bringing her a mountain of local specialties from the Northwest. He keeps touching her body as they lie on the bed, saying he dislikes her being too thin. He pressures her to eat enormous Northwest cakes, each the size of a washbasin. Zhan Lian piles ten cakes in front of her, staring at her with an intense gaze, expecting her to finish them all.
Anran dreams of eating and eating, feeling so full she thinks her body will burst. But every time she stops, Zhan Lian personally shoves more cake into her mouth. It is agonizing. She feels as though she has eaten until her stomach can hold no more, but there are still cakes left. After finally finishing ten cakes, Zhan Lian turns and hands her twenty more.
"Waaaaa~~~"
Doll’s cry pierces through the dream. Anran’s eyes shoot open, and an intense discomfort washes over her body. She sits up from the sofa, her head spinning. It feels like her stomach is about to explode from all the food she ate in the dream. Instinctively, she raises her hand, scattering a handful of white ash in the air. She doesn’t have time to think about where the ash came from. She stumbles out of the living room and into Doll’s room, picking up the crying baby, who has probably been crying for some time. She immediately begins apologizing.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Mommy is too tired. Mommy didn’t hear you crying. Are you hungry? Are you hungry?"
As she speaks, Anran sits down in the snow-white powder on the floor, lifting her shirt to nurse Doll. Doll latches onto one side, and Anran’s other breast immediately starts leaking milk. She winces, rubbing her chest, which has become as hard as a rock. She can’t understand why she has so much milk. Could it be that her personality has just exploded?
As Doll feeds, Anran starts to feel a bit better. The sensation of being overly full begins to subside, though she still feels uncomfortably bloated. It’s the kind of fullness that won’t be relieved by just a few sips of milk. She thinks that maybe she won’t want to eat for the rest of the day.
As Anran’s milk continues to surge, Doll, too, starts to feel full. The first side of her chest isn’t empty yet, but Doll has already had enough. The other side keeps leaking milk, and her chest is so swollen it almost causes her pain.
But Doll doesn’t want to eat anymore. Anran carefully props Doll up and begins patting her back to help her burp. But Doll opens her mouth and vomits the milk all over Anran.
"You ate too much," Anran mutters, looking at the milk dripping down her clothes.
She quickly resumes patting Doll’s back and stands up, holding Doll in her arms as she gently coaxes her to sleep. Once Doll finally drifts off, Anran places her back in the stroller and hurries to the bedroom. She changes into a set of comfortable sportswear and, after a moment’s thought, tucks a milk pad into her bra to prevent any more milk from spilling.
