Chapter 113: Mom, I'm Hungry
Chapter 113: Mom, I'm Hungry
Lin Liu runs to the fifth floor and is about to turn the corner when Liu Yuan charges at him. He raises his hand to push her away, but Liu Yuan, with surprising strength, grabs him by the waist and pulls him forward.
In that moment, neither of them expects the outcome: Liu Yuan loses her balance, and they both tumble down the stairs, crashing into the steps.
"Dammit, let me go!!!" Lin Liu, pinned beneath her, curses angrily, raising his hand to slap Liu Yuan. At this moment, he regrets not listening to Ren Xian earlier and bringing a police baton.
Anran, hearing the commotion upstairs, rushes down and tumbles onto the stairs. She reaches out and grabs Lin Liu's hands as they swing at Liu Yuan. Although Anran is strong, she is no match for Liu Yuan’s power. There is no time to think about anything else at this moment.
As for Liu Yuan, the resentment she feels toward Lin Liu runs deep. He took all the food and supplies from her house, and now, the hatred boils over. Liu Yuan hates Lin Liu the most.
Seeing Anran grab his hands, Liu Yuan, in a surge of anger, presses Lin Liu’s body down with all her strength and swiftly twists his neck. In less than two seconds, there is a sickening "click," and Lin Liu falls limp—his life snuffed out in an instant.
Another life taken.
However, at this moment, neither Liu Yuan nor Anran seems focused on the fact that they have just killed someone. Instead, they are shocked by the unexpected realization of Liu Yuan's immense strength. It is so surprising that it raises suspicions.
Though Liu Yuan has worked as a caregiver in a nursing home, she is still a woman, and just moments ago, Lin Liu was struggling violently. But Liu Yuan easily “kills” him, which doesn’t seem normal.
“Mom…”
A child's voice suddenly rings out above them, startling both women, who quickly look up. There stands Hengheng at the corner, his face blank or perhaps confused. In his soft voice, he says to them:
"Little sister is crying."
"Ah? Oh!"
Anran snaps out of her shock, quickly leaving Lin Liu’s body behind. She rushes upstairs to tend to Doll.
Liu Yuan, also reacting, hurriedly grabs Hengheng and leaves Lin Liu’s lifeless form in the corridor as she follows Anran.
As soon as they enter Anran's home, they can hear Doll crying from the nursery.
Anran picks up Doll, walks out to the living room, and sits on the couch to breastfeed. While feeding, she glances at Liu Yuan, feeling that she has something to say, but not knowing how to start.
The house, now without power, feels unusually spacious. Moonlight pours through the windows, casting a soft, silver glow. The lack of light pollution makes the moon appear full and bright, its reflection sparkling across the lake outside. A cool breeze blows in, carrying a faint, fishy smell from the water.
Liu Yuan stands for a while, holding Hengheng. The little boy yawns, clearly drifting off to sleep. Then Liu Yuan speaks, her voice soft, "Let’s sleep together tonight. I’m afraid someone might come again."
Anran is about to nod when Hengheng, resting his head on Liu Yuan’s shoulder, suddenly mumbles, "Mom, I’m hungry."
Anran points to the apple on the coffee table, which Wang Xin just brought over. "Here’s an apple. Give it to Hengheng first," she says.
