Chapter 111: Ways to Seek Death
Chapter 111: Ways to Seek Death
Yun Tao glances at Lin Liu with a dark expression, his disdain for him clear. He doesn’t respond, and his disgust is palpable.
Over the past few days, Yun Tao has been silently watching the actions of Wang Xin, Lin Liu, and Ren Xian toward the survivors in the community. Yet, he says nothing and does not stop them from their misdeeds.
The misfortunes that have befallen him have drained his interest in life, but there is another side to it: Xiaomei's mistreatment by the three men is almost voluntary on her part.
As for Xiaomei, she is bullied by Wang Xin and the others, though it almost seems like it is her will to endure it. In a way, it all comes down to whether she can survive and get enough food.
After her daughter turns into a zombie, Xiaomei’s mental state begins to deteriorate. In his desperation to survive, Xiaomei’s husband allows Wang Xin and the others to do as they please with her.
Xiaomei's mental state grows worse each day. She is like a living shell, constantly in a daze. She is bullied without resistance, seeming indifferent, as if she’s already accepted her fate. After all, she is already living in hell. What difference does it make if she falls further?
Yun Tao has watched his wife bite their son to death, and now he is out killing zombies, but it feels like another form of self-destruction.
Sometimes, when pain surpasses what the human mind can bear, some people resort to extreme ways to hurt themselves.
Yun Tao and Xiaomei are both living in pain.
Yun Tao understands exactly why Lin Liu isn’t out killing zombies and instead spends his time harassing survivors. He knows Lin Liu is on his way to the building where Liu Yuan and Anran live today.
But other people’s suffering, no matter how intense, no longer concerns him. How could it? He can’t save himself from his own misery, so why should he care about Liu Yuan and Anran?
Lin Liu looks at Yun Tao’s dull, haggard face, shrugs, and starts humming a song as he makes his way toward the building where Liu Yuan and Anran live.
The sky gradually darkens, and the lights in the community’s green belt flicker on. The eerie green glow illuminates the trees, casting a gloomy atmosphere over the entire area.
Meanwhile, Anran and Liu Yuan are hurriedly dealing with Wang Xin’s body. They have decided to take advantage of the darkness and throw the body into the hallway. After all, this is the end of the world. The police, if they are even still around, are likely zombies by now. In this building, there are only Anran, Doll, Liu Yuan, and Hengheng.
If Wang Xin’s body were to be found in the corridor, no one would likely investigate.
But the two women know they can’t stay in the community. If the security team finds out that they have killed Wang Xin, they will come after them. One person might be manageable, but they fear that a group will retaliate, or that Yun Tao, the former armed police captain, will take charge. Either way, they will be at the mercy of others.
So after disposing of the body, Anran and Liu Yuan have to leave quickly.
Since they have already decided to leave, whether the body is found or not no longer matters.
Still, having a body lying around is unpleasant. Their plans to leave won’t be put into motion right away, but the presence of the body in the living room will hinder their preparations.
