Chapter 110: One for Each is the Best
Chapter 110: One for Each is the Best
The world grows more chaotic with each passing day. Anran isn’t sure if she can hold onto her conscience any longer. She feels unrecognizable now, and the future feels uncertain, filled with anxiety.
Liu Yuan squats silently on the ground. If it weren’t for Hengheng, she might have already lost herself entirely. As time goes by, everyone begins to understand the harsh reality. Despair has always been present, but now, everyone has learned to remain silent.
The silence between Anran and Liu Yuan stretches on for what seems like an eternity.
Outside their house, the community, with its vast areas of greenery, is eerily still. In the property center near the community square, the security room is dimly lit, filled with the stench of body fluids. From within comes the faint sound of strained and painful voices.
Xiaomei lies there, lifeless, caught between two men, allowing them to do as they please. Afterward, the two men throw her onto the bed, still naked.
Ren Xian, one of them, stands up and walks over to the table. He sits down, lights a cigarette, and looks at the other man, Lin Liu, who is still lying on the bed, touching Xiaomei’s body.
"Wang Xin has been gone for a while. Why hasn’t he come back?" Ren Xian asks, his voice casual.
"He’s alive and well, who cares what he’s doing?" Lin Liu replies, his face satisfied. He releases his hold on Xiaomei and slaps her lifeless head to the side, his tone dripping with disdain. "The more we play with her, the more she looks like a corpse. I’m going to find something new. You stay here, I’ll go find Liu Yuan. The best thing would be for each of us to have one."
At first, sharing women might have seemed interesting, but as new opportunities arise, Wang Xin and his friends’ interests shift.
There are only twelve survivors left in the community—four security guards, five male survivors, and three women. With Anran’s return, the number of women remains at three.
The security office has become the dominant force in the community. Captain Yun Tao, who avoids women, lives a life of constant despair. Wang Xin and his friends each claim one of the women.
Ren Xian, still sitting at the table, smiles determinedly. He points at the baton hanging on the wall and speaks to Lin Liu. "That Liu Yuan, she gave in quickly after all this time. Tonight, take the baton with you, and don’t give her a chance to resist. What’s wrong with forcing her? If anyone dares to speak out, just throw them to the zombies. One less person, one less mouth to feed."
The fundamental conflict among humans now revolves around food distribution. Whoever controls the food controls everything.
But for people like Liu Yuan, who still hold onto some loyalty, human nature has become so corrupt that there is no issue in forcing them into submission.
"Does a woman really need a baton? Just scare her a little!" Lin Liu says dismissively. He gets up, puts on his clothes, and leaves the security room. He grabs a bag of instant noodles, tearing it open as he walks toward the building where Liu Yuan and Anran live. As he passes the green belt of the community, he sees Yun Tao standing by a flower bed, lost in thought. Lin Liu smiles and calls out to him, "Captain, what are you doing here? Didn’t you go out to kill zombies today?"
Yun Tao silently turns his face away. Under the harsh streetlights, his face appears haggard and aged.
At nearly 40 years old, the hardships of the post-apocalyptic world, the loss of his wife and son, have aged him prematurely, making him appear as though he is in his 50s or 60s.
