You Had a Plan All Along
The annex wasn't far from the main building. It was close enough to reach with a brisk walk.
"Where to?"
The annex was a three-story structure above ground. Go Cheon-su had to decide where to head first.
"Huff... huff..."
At that moment, someone came staggering up from the basement. Go Cheon-su quickly hid nearby and peeked out to assess the situation.
Underground, not ground level?
If it was a cop, he'd be in trouble. He might have been one step too late.
"D-Damn it."
But the one cursing like that was none other than Jang Man-cheol.
Jang Man-cheol?
Why was he coming out from here? Well, actually, Go Cheon-su knew the reason. He'd actually followed through on the request.
"Mr. Jang Man-cheol."
Go Cheon-su quietly called out to Jang Man-cheol, who was scanning the surroundings.
"Mr. Jang Man-cheol, over here."
When he even waved, Jang Man-cheol finally spotted him.
"Y-You...!"
Jang Man-cheol rushed over and grabbed Go Cheon-su's shoulders.
"You knew everything, didn't you?! Huh?!"
"Hold on. Calm down."
It was clear Jang Man-cheol had seen something inside. Go Cheon-su pressed a finger to his lips.
"No point making noise. Is anyone inside right now?"
"I-Inside..."
Jang Man-cheol glanced back, then turned to Go Cheon-su.
"It's Lee Seo-jun! That traffic division lieutenant Lee Seo-jun! The gatekeeper's in on it too!"
"Coming out of the woodwork."
It looked like Jin Kyung-ho and Lee Seo-jun had schemed together to take over Myeongseo Elementary School. From the circumstances and Jang Man-cheol's testimony, the gatekeeper was an accomplice too.
"Lee Seo-jun's not alone in there, right?"
At Go Cheon-su's question, Jang Man-cheol swallowed hard before answering.
"The police chief was there! Tied to a chair!"
"You sure?"
"From what Lee Seo-jun was saying, it was definitely the chief...!"
It was exactly what he'd hoped for. As Go Cheon-su clenched his fist, Jang Man-cheol scowled.
"But they were trying to move him somewhere! He zapped him with a stun gun several times!"
"Got it."
Jang Man-cheol's role was done. Now it was time to deal with Lee Seo-jun.
"Mr. Jang Man-cheol, what was Lee Seo-jun's armament like?"
"Y-You, you planning to fight?"
"Obviously."
Go Cheon-su looked at Jang Man-cheol with a serious expression.
"I can't stand injustice."
The viewers couldn't hold back, flooding the chat. Go Cheon-su ignored it as best he could and grabbed Jang Man-cheol's arm.
"I'll handle this. Go get the people. You need to convince them to come."
"Convince them...?"
"Yeah. If things go south, we'll need backup."
Of course, Go Cheon-su had no intention of losing. But for maximum fun, no witnesses were better.
"A-Alright."
Jang Man-cheol nodded readily and said to Go Cheon-su,
"Be careful. I'll bring people quick."
"Got it."
"Then...!"
With that, Jang Man-cheol turned and ran off. Go Cheon-su watched him go, then entered the annex.
"Brothers, focus. Less talk, more moving."
Instead of words, Go Cheon-su pointed to his destination with a finger.
Basement.
The stairs leading down were pitch black. But Go Cheon-su didn't use his phone light. He'd turned on the recorder instead. He'd charged it via the car's cigarette lighter, so the battery was full.
At least leave a light on, asshole.
Too risky to do anything else that might give him away, so Go Cheon-su cautiously descended.
The boring wait didn't last long. Soon he spotted a door with light spilling out.
Quiet in there.
The door was slightly ajar—the gap Jang Man-cheol must have peeked through. Go Cheon-su glanced inside.
"-Tough bastard."
A voice rang out suddenly. No need to guess who. Lee Seo-jun was rolling his shoulders as he looked at a man slumped in a chair.
"Let's make this easy, Chief. Yeah?"
Zzzzt.
Lee Seo-jun held a stun gun—the same kind Jin Kyung-ho had.
No hesitation needed. Go Cheon-su flung the door wide and charged in.
"Wh-What the?!"
Lee Seo-jun looked shocked, but what came next was inevitable.
"Drop kiiiick!"
Go Cheon-su leaped, slamming both feet into Lee Seo-jun's chest.
"Guhk?!"
Crash! Bang!
Lee Seo-jun flew back, smashing into the wall and tumbling into junk.
"Ah, fuck. Shit."
Go Cheon-su, who'd landed vertically after the kick, grimaced as he stood. Pain shot through his body, but no time to waste. Lee Seo-jun was fumbling for his pistol at his waist.
Bang!
A shot rang out, but missed.
"Wh-What...!"
Lee Seo-jun's gun hand was seized by Go Cheon-su, twisted away harmlessly.
"What? Your lost humanity!"
Go Cheon-su drove a knee into Lee Seo-jun's face.
"Argh?!"
"Hand over the gun, asshole!"
With Record Accumulation boosting his physicals by 1.5x, Go Cheon-su had the edge after landing first.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Lee Seo-jun fired wildly to shake him off.
Bang! Bang! Click!
Go Cheon-su kept the barrel away from himself and the chief.
"Ah?!"
But the hot barrel burned his hand, forcing Go Cheon-su to let go. Lee Seo-jun's eyes lit up.
"You're dead, you fuck...!"
Click.
The trigger Lee Seo-jun pulled gave an empty sound.
"What?!"
"Didn't hear that?"
The magazine was empty. Go Cheon-su pulled back his fist.
"This is for Jeong Min-gyu!"
Crack!
Lee Seo-jun's head snapped sideways from the punch.
"This is for the chief you fucked over!"
Thud!
Another punch whipped it the other way.
"And this is for all my suffering!"
"Argh!"
An uppercut to the jaw sent Lee Seo-jun sprawling.
Crash! Bang!
But louder still...
"Gunshots!"
Go Cheon-su loomed over Lee Seo-jun.
"Everyone's coming because of your shots!"
He'd told Jang Man-cheol to bring people, but cops would come too. He needed the chief to sort this.
"Keys."
Glancing at the handcuffed man in the chair, Go Cheon-su demanded of Lee Seo-jun.
"...Hah."
"No sighing. Keys. Now."
He seemed out of it, but Go Cheon-su knew what he was doing—faking death throes while reaching for his own stun gun...
Zzzzt!
"Arghhh?!"
"Nice try."
Go Cheon-su zapped him first with his spare stun gun.
"Gaaah! Graaaah!"
"Only twice so far."
Go Cheon-su watched him writhe, then yanked the keyring from his belt.
"Why so many?"
At the chair, the police chief came into clearer view.
"Kinda similar?"
He had a mild impression like Heo Young-woong, but thicker jaw and sharper features made him look sturdier.
"They really fucked you up."
He freed the gasping chief and checked him. Consciousness lingered—good.
"Who... are you?"
Normally tricky, but a perfect answer existed.
"Friend of Heo Young-woong. You know him?"
"Ah... that kid..."
A bitter smile crossed the chief's face.
"He did good. Didn't expect a comrade like..."
"Not exactly a comrade."
Go Cheon-su drew the pistol from his waist.
"Anyway, let's wrap this up proper before they get here."
Insane reactions poured in as Go Cheon-su approached Lee Seo-jun again and squatted.
"No objections to a bullet, right?"
"Ah, ah..."
"Yeah, yeah. Quick and easy."
He pressed the loaded barrel close; Lee Seo-jun's pupils dilated.
"W-W-Wait...!"
"Bang."
Lee Seo-jun flinched hard at the mouth-made sound, gulping air. Smirking, Go Cheon-su prodded spots with the muzzle.
"Arm? Leg? Chest? Or..."
At the head, Lee Seo-jun froze solid.
"Scared of one shot, but you fired how many at me? Huh?"
Go Cheon-su snickered; Lee Seo-jun paled to ashen, begging,
"Pl-Please, just spare me. Mercy..."
◈ Lick lick.
"Ah, thanks TongueOnYourNeck."
His face lit up insanely from the donation; Lee Seo-jun finally pissed himself.
"Aw, why wet yourself."
Go Cheon-su glanced at chat.
"And brothers, not time for gens yet."
More planned fun awaited. Speak of the devil...
Footsteps pounded down the stairs. Not many—just one.
"Here."
Go Cheon-su moved to the door, waiting calmly.
"-No, Lieutenant! The chief's...!"
Bang!
Thud.
Smoke from Go Cheon-su's pistol; the gatekeeper cop from the main building collapsed.
"Traitors talk too much."
Go Cheon-su's gaze turned icy. Spotting the crowd heading here, he'd known this guy would arrive first.
◈ Lick lick.
◈ Traitor's doom.
◈ Yeah, that's it.
◈ ^^
Go Cheon-su spread his arms briefly to welcome the donations, then snapped back, grabbing the gatekeeper's pistol.
"Six rounds."
He checked the mag and tucked it away. Then, near the still-dazed chief, he picked up the fallen handcuffs.
They went straight to Lee Seo-jun.
"From the chief over there."
Click.
Handcuffed Lee Seo-jun, and took his stun gun too.
"All tidy."
Chat showed 11 Zen from $ presses.
Seeing the rising chat, Go Cheon-su grinned.
"Hold up. No rush."
The commotion outside grew. For any surprises, Go Cheon-su stepped out.
People were rushing toward the annex—civilians and cops all mixed up. Go Cheon-su sighed.
Done.
Real traitors knowing the chief was here wouldn't respond so sloppily. Viewers' reactions confirmed it, but better to verify.
"H-Hey!"
Jang Man-cheol approached, yelling.
"You okay?!"
"Yeah, as you see."
Go Cheon-su glanced at the annex.
"Lee Seo-jun beat the chief bloody, so I caught him. Go check."
"Wh-What?!"
"The chief's here...!"
Shocked cops and civilians poured into the basement.
"Getting dark."
Go Cheon-su looked up at the sky and finally muttered the words he'd waited for.
"Info window."
Ironically, what he saw there shocked him.
