Chapter Title: The Birth of Erza
-------------------------------------
"It's fine, Irene. Absolutely no one will come to attack this bakery of ours, and even if there were, I could easily defeat them!"
Evan felt like he was about to suffocate. He gently pushed Irene away and spoke up.
Evan didn’t call Irene "Mom". From the moment he could speak, he had always called her by her name, and the latter never said anything about it either.
"Evan, you absolutely mustn’t be careless! In this world, the human heart is unpredictable. Some people who aren’t our match head-on will use some despicable and dirty tricks instead, so you must protect yourself well!"
Irene rubbed Evan's small face and spoke softly.
She looked at the boy dotingly while simultaneously sharing some of her experiences from when she was in human society— the human heart was unpredictable...
"Understood."
Evan knew that Irene was also doing this for his own good. He nodded while looking like he was listening earnestly.
"It’s good that you understand!"
Saying this, Irene gently snapped her fingers, and various fruits and flour all appeared inside the room.
These were the ingredients for making bread in the bakery. They were all personally planted by Irene. However much bread she made each day, she would go to the mountain in the back and fetch that much material.
Then she would use enchantment magic to process these ingredients well before bringing them back to the bakery.
Because their ingredients every day were fresh, the customers at Irene's bakery were always an endless stream. This was also one of the secrets as to why their small shop could remain constantly booming.
As for whether the ingredients Irene planted on the mountain would be destroyed by people, there was absolutely no need to worry about this point. The scarlet dragon had cast an enchantment magic on that mountain range. Whether it was wild beasts or human mages, none could easily enter it.
"Irene’s back..."
As Irene prepared the ingredients, the customers inside the bakery greeted her one after another.
"I have something to do today, so I need to close our shop early. So from now on, all the unsold bread here will be half off. First come, first served. There’s only this much remaining, so buy some now before we’re all sold out!"
Irene seemed to have something to discuss with Evan, but there were too many people around. She pondered slightly before speaking to the people still inside the shop.
"Half off?!"
"Great!"
"I want five!"
"I'll take all of these!"
"Jack, leave one for me. My child especially loves eating the bread Irene makes! Ever since eating it once, they won't eat what I make anymore!"
"Get in line. Everyone in the whole town loves eating the bread Irene makes! If you have the ability, then snatch it. If you don't have the ability, then starve!"
In less than a moment's time, the bread inside the bakery was swept completely clean.
Irene smiled while looking at the people who had snatched her bread, finished paying, and were leaving the bakery. She continuously waved her hand to say goodbye to the customers.
Only after the last customer left did she walk out of the bakery, take down the sign hanging on the door that said "Open", and swap it for the "Closed" sign. Only then did she return inside the bakery.
"Why the early discount today?"
Evan sat on the front counter and asked Irene.
Under normal circumstances, they would only sell the unsold bread in the shop at a discount when they were about to close at five o'clock in the afternoon. Sometimes it was a fifty percent discount, sometimes a ninety percent discount, or sometimes they would just give it away directly. However, there usually wasn't much left anyway by then because Irene would adjust the quantity of bread she made for the next day based on the daily sales situation. Today could be considered a special case.
"There’s something I must discuss with you."
Irene looked at Evan with a somewhat complex expression.
"?!"
The latter was somewhat puzzled, but before he could think too much, he was already picked up by Irene and was brought toward the stairs at the back of the bakery.
The two went upstairs and arrived at the second floor of the bakery, which was simultaneously the place where Evan and Irene rested.
"Actually, it's like this…
Evan, you’re going to be an older brother soon!"
Irene stroked Evan's small head and smiled gently.
"Oh!"
Evan nodded, indicating that he understood.
"Hmm?"
Irene looked at the plain-faced Evan, a trace of doubt in her eyes.
It seemed that the boy’s reaction was too plain, so it made her unsure whether he could accept the matter of having a younger sister.
"I mean, that’s truly wonderful!"
Evan also knew that his reaction was too plain, so he tried his best to pretend to have a child's reaction, combining his naive appearance with cheerful words.
"Is that so? That's great. Originally, I thought that you wouldn't be willing, Evan!
If you were truly unwilling, I originally planned to wait until you changed your mind! Only then would I give birth to this child..."
Irene gently stroked Evan's face, revealing an expression of relief.
Actually, she was also very hesitant about the child in her womb. In her lifetime, she would never be able to forgive the father of the child in her womb.
But she knew that the child was innocent. This contradictory mindset made her hesitate for a long time. In the end, Irene still planned to give birth to this child.
"Right, Evan!"
Irene suddenly thought of something, looked at Evan, and asked.
"What kind of name do you think would be good to give this child?"
"..."
Evan fell silent for a moment. Irene's child, that was Erza! Erza definitely had to be named Erza! If it was changed to another name, it would always feel weird to him. Thinking this, Evan replied.
"If it's a girl, how about calling her Erza?"
"Erza?"
Irene's face lit up with joy.
"That’s indeed a good name. Erza Belserion, not bad, it sounds very nice! Then it's decided. The child shall be called Erza!"
‘Erza Belserion. Although the surname has changed, Belserion was originally Erza's surname to begin with, so it probably doesn't matter much.’
Evan thought to himself indifferently. After all, Belserion was Erza's true surname.
"Erza~"
Irene was still muttering Erza's name at this moment. Then, her gaze became firm, and she looked at Evan and spoke.
"Evan, I’m going to give birth!"
"Oh, you’re going to give birth…"
Evan nodded plainly, and then his eyes widened. Only then did he react to what Irene was saying, and he immediately asked.
"You’re going to give birth? Right here?
I'll go find a doctor..."
Saying this, Evan gently floated up from the table. This was a weightless state he had achieved using the ability of the Press-Press Fruit.
"Separation!"
Before Evan could even float out the window, accompanied by a burst of light, a cute infant had already appeared in Irene's arms.
"Evan, look quickly, this child’s so cute..."
Irene looked at the child in her arms as if her heart had been completely healed.
"Born? Just like that, she's born? With a ‘snap’, she was born?"
Evan's brain crashed. The common sense from his past life had now become a burden for him in this alternate world.
"She’s indeed very cute..."
Evan floated over to the front of Irene and the baby. He looked at baby Erza, and the corners of his mouth involuntarily turned up.
Evan didn't know why, but as he looked at the pure and innocent Erza, his inner thirst for power and his restless anxiety regarding the possibility of facing the Black Dragon in the future all completely vanished at this moment, as if he had been healed.
"Waaaah..."
Just as Evan and Irene were both looking at the infant Erza and smiling foolishly as if they were being healed, the latter suddenly started crying.
"She’s probably hungry! I'll go find some milk powder…
It seems that our milk powder’s all used up. I'll go outside and buy some."
Evan looked at the crying Erza and immediately floated up, preparing to go outside and buy milk powder.
"Nutrition Enchantment!"
Just as he was preparing to go out, he saw Irene wave her hand and cast a Nutrition Enchantment magic on Erza. Baby Erza immediately stopped crying and quietly continued to sleep.
"This enchantment magic is really handy."
Evan looked at Irene's omnipotent enchantment magic, feeling somewhat envious.
-------------------------------------
T/N - Erza’s here! Honestly, this is why I like this novel. Erza has always been my favorite Fairy Tail character, and reading about her having a mother and an older brother who takes care of her just warms my heart.
Also, I find it hilarious that Irene just uses her magic and ‘poof’, Erza’s out. And then she uses nutrition enchantment magic… How the fuck does that even work? You know what, I shouldn’t question it. Magic isn’t supposed to make sense. 😅
