Chapter Title: Evan's System
-------------------------------------
On the Ishgar Continent, in a small town of a remote country.
Inside a bakery named Scarlet Maiden, a child with short brown hair, looking to be about one year old, sat at the front counter watching the shop.
At an age where other children were still in swaddling clothes, this one-year-old child seemed to already possess the ability to watch the bakery all by himself.
Even in this magical world filled with magic, this child's behavior could be considered a genius among mortals...
Inside the ordinary bakery, the customers selecting bread seemed to have long grown accustomed to the scene before them.
"Evan, did your mother go to restock again?"
In the shop, a warmhearted middle-aged neighbor asked Evan.
"Yes, Uncle John!"
That child with the short brownish-red hair was precisely the transmigrator Evan. At this moment, he was smiling and greeting the person who had asked him the question.
The person speaking was named John, the town's blacksmith. John's blacksmith shop was right next door to their bakery, so the man frequently came to support Evan's family business.
"Evan, didn't I tell you? If you need anything, just come next door and find me! With me helping you mother and son, the two of you wouldn't have to work so hard."
John, a burly man with a few scars on his face, said to Evan.
"John, you've been courting Irene for a year now. Ever since she moved to this town, you've been pestering her nonstop. It's so boring. Moreover, the way I see it, Irene has no interest in you at all!"
"That's right! That's right! Irene’s the most beautiful woman in the entire town. I heard that a mage even pursued her before. You should just give up now while it's still early!"
Just as John's voice fell, the other customers in the bakery spoke up, teasing him.
"Shoo, shoo, shoo, what do you know?!"
John's face turned red. Although he looked fierce, he was surprisingly innocent. Being talked about by so many people all at once, he couldn't quite keep his cool. He glared at the group of people making sarcastic remarks, then he turned to look at Evan and said.
"Evan, I've left the money here. I'm going back next door. Remember to find me if you need anything!"
"Rest assured, Uncle John!"
Evan wore a smile and nodded gently to the man. This was his practiced professional smile, which he showed to all customers.
"Haha..."
"John’s running away!"
Then, under the gazes of several pairs of eyes inside the bakery, John quickly walked out the door and returned to the blacksmith shop next door.
"Sigh..."
Evan looked at the laughing crowd and sighed helplessly.
He had lived in this world for over a full year now, and he was already over one year old.
During this past year or so, Evan had been living together with that scarlet dragon who had eaten his Devil Fruit. They had left the forest, moved to a town inhabited by humans, and opened a bakery selling desserts, bread, and cakes...
At the same time, over the course of this year, Evan also finally realized exactly which world he had transmigrated into.
Yes, he indeed hadn’t transmigrated into the world of ‘One Piece’, but he had transmigrated into the world of ‘Fairy Tail’ instead...
For Evan, this wasn’t good news, because in his view, the world of ‘Fairy Tail’ was even more dangerous than the world of ‘One Piece’!
He knew clearly just how twisted the villains were in this world named ‘Fairy Tail’!
There was time travel, alternate worlds, and world destruction here— troublesome matters came one after another.
If Evan had transmigrated to the ‘One Piece’ world, at worst he could just run to Foosha Village and slack off. However the pirates and the marines fought outside, it would have almost nothing to do with him...
But the problem with the ‘Fairy Tail’ world was that the later battles between the major villain bosses and the protagonist group nearly swept across the entire continent. He wouldn't even know where to hide here. Moreover, there was also an insane overall power-ceiling character who hunted dragons everywhere in this world...
This gave Evan a severe headache...
Fortunately, however, his start wasn't bad, because he finally figured out the identity of the scarlet dragon!
That beautiful person who met Evan, ate his Zoan-type Human-Human Fruit, Commoner Model, and subsequently regained her human form, was precisely the creator of Dragon Slayer Magic, the Mother of Dragon Slayers, the beautiful and powerful Dragon Queen— Irene Belserion!
In the original work, Irene's life was a tragedy.
She was clearly the queen of the Ishgar Continent who protected humans from the harassment of giant dragons, and she even created the great Dragon Slayer Magic. Yet, because of overusing Dragon Slayer Magic, she triggered its side effects, leading to her body undergoing dragonification. Then, she was hurt and abandoned by a foolish scumbag!
While pregnant, she suffered the betrayal of humans and was sentenced to brutal torture!
Finally, in a moment of despair, she transformed into a sky-shaking giant dragon, destroyed the execution grounds, and soared away!
In the following four hundred years, because of the overly powerful magic power within her body and the need to divert her energy to care for the child inside of her, Irene was unable to transform into a human and could only live in this world in the form of a giant dragon.
Until Irene, in another chance encounter, met one of the strongest mages in this world, who was simultaneously one of the main characters running through the entire timeline of the original work as well as one of the ultimate villains of the story— the Black Wizard, Zeref!
With Zeref's help, Irene finally obtained a false human form, which gave her a brief moment of happiness!
But this human form was false after all! Irene's essence had already been eroded by the Dragon Slayer Magic, turning her into a giant dragon. After the brief happiness came even greater pain.
Irene suffered from the side effects of turning into a giant dragon— unable to sleep, unable to taste food...
And her overly clear mind made her remember painful memories from hundreds of years ago...
Irene's mind, tortured by the side effects of turning into a giant dragon and the painful memories of being abandoned and trampled upon by a scumbag, nearly collapsed. She even thought of possessing the body of the child in her womb to become human again!
However, in the end, her maternal instinct triumphed over her bestial nature. In despair and pain, to prevent her collapsing self from possessing her infant daughter, she regretfully abandoned the newborn Erza. She then joined Zeref's faction, becoming one of his two strongest subordinates, known as the 'Scarlet Despair' of the Western Empire's Twin Shields, Irene Belserion...
But fate didn’t let Irene go just like that...
The tragedy continued to play out. The brain-dead Zeref, in order to gain the power to sanction the Black Dragon Acnologia, chose to launch a massive invasion on the Ishgar Continent, officially engaging in a decisive battle with the protagonist group— the mages of Fairy Tail!
As one of Zeref's strongest subordinates, Irene naturally became enemies with her own daughter, Erza, who was in Fairy Tail and was also one of the main characters. This led to a painful duel between mother and daughter.
Although Irene was incomparably powerful, she ultimately couldn’t bring herself to kill her own biological daughter and narrowly lost under Erza's blade. Then, the most cruel event of the entire series occurred. When the Black Dragon Acnologia learned that Irene was the creator of the Dragon Slayer Magic, he, whose mind was equally mad and who wanted to destroy all giant dragons and Dragon Slayers, cruelly and completely destroyed Irene's body.
With that, Irene’s tragic life ended. However, Evan had heard that in the spin-offs after the main ‘Fairy Tail’ story, Irene didn't completely die, but he didn't know much about it.
Now, Evan absolutely wouldn’t watch helplessly as Irene walked down that same path of doomed fate once again!
Over the course of a year, he had already developed feelings of attachment for the scarlet dragon.
Since he, Evan, had come to this world, he had to at least protect the important people around him and live peacefully until the end of the world. This was his goal for living in this world.
Thinking this, Evan opened his character template in his mind.
-------------------------------------
Character: Evan
Physique: Special Physique (Can eat multiple Devil Fruits)
Haki:
Observation Haki: LV6 (+)
Armament Haki: LV6 (+)
Conqueror's Haki: LV6 (+)
Devil Fruit:
Zoan-type Fish-Fish Fruit, Mythical Beast Model, Azure Dragon: LV6 (+)
Paramecia-type Press-Press Fruit: LV6 (+)
Logia-type Glint-Glint Fruit: LV6 (+)
Martial Art:
Swordsmanship: LV6 (+)
Rokushiki: LV6 (+)
Funds: 205,908
-------------------------------------
This character template was what would allow Evan to establish a foothold in this world. He could obtain funds by completing the daily quests issued by the system every day, and funds were the most important thing for Evan as he used it to upgrade his abilities.
The max level for each of Evan's abilities was level ten. Starting from unlocking an ability — that was, upgrading an ability to LV1 required one point of funds — the funds required for each subsequent level up were ten times the previous amount. That meant that level 2 required ten points of funds, level 3 required one hundred points, level 4 was one thousand points, level 5 was ten thousand points, and level 6 required one hundred thousand points. By this analogy, level 7 would need one million points, level 8 would be ten million points, level 9 would be one hundred million points, and the max level of 10 required a staggering one billion points of funds.
Up until now, to upgrade his 8 abilities, Evan had already spent a full eight hundred thousand, nearly nine hundred thousand points!
From here on out, the funds Evan needed would become increasingly massive, and this inflation of funds was entirely because...
This damn system calculated funds based on the currency of the ‘One Piece’ world. The currency in the ‘One Piece’ world was inherently inflated. In the later stages, the bounties of those great pirates were all over a billion...
At the same time, because the abilities in the ‘One Piece’ world all complemented each other — Haki, Devil Fruit powers, and Martial Arts were all indispensable — Evan could only choose a balanced development.
For example, the Glint-Glint Fruit. The speed of the Glint-Glint Fruit was too fast. Evan's brain simply couldn't keep up with such speed, and his line of sight wasn't far enough. To determine the distance between two points and ensure that he wouldn't rapidly move to the wrong place, he needed Observation Haki to assist him.
Armament Haki and Conqueror's Haki, on the other hand, were solid abilities and they complemented each other quite well. One could deal internal damage, while the other could manifest as black lightning to strike through the air.
The Fish-Fish Fruit could give Evan a powerful body, but it didn't come with any techniques. So Rokushiki and Swordsmanship were needed to make up for his lack of techniques.
At the same time, Rokushiki and Swordsmanship could similarly enhance Evan's physical fitness, making him even stronger.
As for the Press-Press Fruit, also known as the Gravity Fruit, its attack range was too large. Without Observation Haki, he would likely injure the innocent. Moreover, if he wanted to play with the foundational abilities of the Gravity Fruit as flashily as Fujitora Issho, he also needed powerful Observation Haki to assist him.
Evan looked at his attributes, sighed, and simultaneously opened his quest template.
-------------------------------------
[Quest 1: Help Irene watch the shop, obtain 1,000 funds]
[Quest 2: Sell one loaf of bread, obtain 1,000 funds]
[Quest 3: Have ten customers enter the shop while watching it, obtain 1,000 funds]
-------------------------------------
Right now, these three daily quests had lit up with a blue glow from their gray state, which meant that Evan had already completed all of today's daily quests.
Evan looked at his daily funds of three thousand per day and claimed them all. Instantly, his original funds changed from 205,908 to 208,908...
Just as Evan was lamenting over when he would be able to gather one million funds to upgrade one of his abilities to level 7, accompanied by the chime of a wind bell, a beautiful scarlet silhouette hurriedly returned to the inside of the bakery.
Immediately after, Evan felt a tremendous force pick him up.
"Evan, while Mommy was away, you didn't get hurt, did you? Did any bad guys come to cause trouble?"
That beautiful scarlet silhouette hugged Evan to her chest while continuously asking him such questions with worry.
Evan didn't even need to think much about this. Feeling the force that nearly suffocated him, he knew who had returned.
One must know that with his current stats, if he was placed in the world of ‘One Piece’, he would already be at the level of a Marine Vice Admiral...
Though the strength of Marine Vice Admirals was uneven — because of the Giant Squad Vice Admirals setting the baseline, level 5 could already be called Vice Admiral level — but also because there was a legendary old man who refused to be promoted no matter what, so even if Evan maxed out his abilities to level 10, he could technically still be considered Vice Admiral level...
However, no matter what, this so-called Vice Admiral level could be considered a formidable expert in both the ‘One Piece’ and the ‘Fairy Tail’ worlds. But even so, when facing this force that suddenly hugged him tightly, Evan still had absolutely no power to resist!
It was only because the other party was someone who could destroy an entire country in an instant— and a country that could genuinely be called a massive nation without any exaggeration in size!
The one called the Scarlet Despair by countless people!
Meaning that upon seeing this beautiful scarlet figure, one could do nothing but despair— Irene Belserion!
She had already exceeded the scope of humanity. It was a combat power at the level of an Ancient Weapon, or even above one.
Even if one counted all of the mages of the Ishgar Continent and the Alvarez Empire created by Zeref on the Western Continent…
Excluding the power-ceiling Black Dragon Acnologia running rampant across the world and the maddened Black Wizard Zeref who possessed an immortal body…
Only the Magic King August, who was jointly referred to as the Twin Shields alongside Irene Belserion, had the power to fight Irene!
Speaking of August, Evan felt a bit ashamed. When the Magic King August was still in the belly of Fairy Tail's First Guild Master Mavis, the magic power within his body was already enough to make Fairy Tail's Second Guild Master Precht, who was hailed as a genius, feel shock and panic. Compared to him, even Evan, who possessed a cheat, couldn't be called a genius!

T/N - Massive lore dump in this chapter. But this should be the only one like this. The author isn’t nearly as wordy in later chapters. As for lore stuff, feel free to point them out to me if you find any errors. I’m no longer well-versed in Fairy Tail and One Piece as it’s been so long since I last read them. My only lore refresh for these sorts of things are, ironically enough, fanfictions, and the accuracy of those are questionable even in the best of times.
Also, if you’re wondering, the reason why I liked this novel in the first place is because of Irene becoming the MC’s mother. I just like the fact that Irene and Erza get to be a family with the MC connecting them instead of the tragedy in the original story. And Irene acting like an overprotective mother hen (well, dragon) is pretty interesting too.
