The Delinquent Sisters
The engine roared like thunder—kwang——as I floored the accelerator, racing the Porsche toward the Gangnam Police Station. The car had always been a beast, but right now it felt more like a goddamn orbital weapon. Every vehicle on the road instinctively parted for me, letting me cruise without a single ounce of stress. I popped the roof open, basking in the stares of everyone around me, and rolled into the station like I owned the place.
Flex points were probably stacking up like crazy. I could practically hear the sweet sound of them piling on. Yesterday I'd checked and already had over nine hundred million points. A quick stop here, then a leisurely drive home? That should be enough to clear the final tutorial quest.
Man, I'm excited. Just get a look at their faces and bounce. No way I'm settling anyway.
I called ahead to let Attorney Yu Inyeong know I'd arrived. After a short wait, a woman stepped out of the station wearing a crisp office look, her hair neatly tied back. She had on a pair of glasses. Even though I normally called glasses "dick goggles" and hated them with a passion, I had to admit they looked incredible on her—like a genuine fashion statement. The frames suited her perfectly.
I'd never seen her before, but I knew instantly this was Attorney Yu Inyeong. Long, dark eyebrows. Elegant, refined features that matched her perfectly buttoned-up office suit. Deep, intelligent eyes that seemed to sparkle with quiet competence. She looked exactly like the kind of woman a brilliant painter would sketch after being inspired by the sound of her voice. Everything about her appearance was in perfect harmony with the sharp, professional tone I'd heard on the phone.
Tak. I stepped out of the car and walked toward her. Meeting a beautiful woman was always a pleasure, so my steps were a little quicker than usual.
"Attorney Yu Inyeong?"
"...You're Mr. Kim Minjun, the client?"
"Yes, that's me. Hello."
"Hello. I'm Attorney Yu Inyeong."
Her greeting was extremely businesslike. Her voice carried neither warmth nor dislike—just pure, clinical professionalism. Even after seeing me roll up in a Lamborghini that would turn heads from a hundred meters away, her gaze didn't waver once. That haughty composure only made me like her more.
The more prideful they are, the more I want to break them.
"Could you show me the way? I'd like to see the faces of whoever did this."
"Of course. This way."
I followed her into the station building. It was exactly like the police stations you saw in dramas and movies. I'd seen it on screen so many times that even though this was my first time here in person, it felt strangely familiar.
Following her through the building, we arrived at a typical government office space divided by neat gray vertical partitions. Each desk had an identical computer. A few detectives who looked every bit the part were hammering away at their keyboards. Some people sat across from them, nervously spilling their stories during questioning. The scattered sound of stiff conversations mixed with the strangely desolate atmosphere—even though there was clearly a humidifier running in the corner—made it hard to breathe.
Thank god I was here as a victim. If I'd been dragged in as a suspect, the vibe alone would've had me shaking like a leaf.
Huh?
In the farthest, gloomiest corner of the office sat three female high school students in uniform. They looked completely out of place in the police station. They were hunched over with their shoulders drawn tight, heads hanging low. Their skirts were hiked up short enough to show off their asses, and their blouses clung to their bodies like a second skin. Classic "delinquent queen bees," by the look of them. But right now, trembling in those chairs, they just looked like pitiful kids.
Well, they were only a year or two younger than me anyway.
Aigoo, they're so young. What the hell are they doing in a place like this? They should be studying instead of repeating the entrance exam like me. Tsk tsk.
Watching high school girls shaking in a police station, I finally understood why old geezers always spouted that kind of condescending crap. It made me feel both sorry for them and oddly compelled to butt in.
...Wait. These... fucking bitches?
But the more Attorney Yu Inyeong led me toward that exact corner where the girls were sitting, the more my "concerned adult" mindset evaporated. The devil inside me began to stir.
I'd thought they were just some pitiful students. Turns out these little whores were the ones who'd mercilessly stomped all over my precious baby.
"Ah, Mr. Kim Minjun?"
"Yes, that's me."
As I approached, the detective in charge greeted me. At the same time, the three girls—who'd been staring at the floor—snapped their heads up and locked eyes on me. I casually ignored their gazes.
"Should I sit here?"
"Yes, please have a seat."
I pulled over a nearby chair and sat down a short distance from the girls. Attorney Yu Inyeong sat beside me.
"Mr. Kim Minjun. I was told you informed your attorney that you have zero interest in settling. Is that correct?"
The detective jumped straight into the settlement talk the moment I sat down. It was so obvious what he was doing that I didn't even want to answer, but since he was the one in charge, I figured I should.
"That's right."
My voice had turned noticeably cold. The detective hesitated for a moment before speaking again.
"Well... as you can see, they're minors, so they won't face criminal charges anyway... It would be much easier for everyone if you could just settle this amicably..."
The moment the detective started talking about settlement, I felt the three hopeless sisters—who'd been sneaking glances at me—tense up all at once. They'd been jumping around on my precious hood like it was a goddamn trampoline yesterday, but now they were scared shitless.
"My attorney will handle everything anyway, so it's no inconvenience to me. Besides, criminal punishment isn't the only kind of punishment, is it? They'll get what they deserve for what they did."
"Well... that's true, but still, they're students..."
"Detective. I didn't come here to settle. I just wanted to see their faces. I was curious what kind of people would do something like that."
"Ah... I see."
The detective answered awkwardly. I shifted my gaze from him to the three girls, who were now peeking at me with terrified eyes. Their bodies flinched visibly when my stare landed on them.
I studied each of their faces carefully before slowly opening my mouth.
"...Students. Do you have that much money?"
"...N-no, we don't."
The girl in the middle—the one with a haughty, cat-like face—answered in a trembling voice. She was cute enough to be exactly my type, but unfortunately she was a minor, so she didn't make the wife list. Still, judging by both her aura and her looks, she was clearly the leader of the group. The fact that she spoke first proved she had some real leadership. Not that it mattered. I had zero intention of settling.
"Then how did this happen?"
"We... were just passing by... and the car was so cool we wanted to take pictures... We're really sorry. We've been reflecting on it."
Bow.
The leader of the three hopeless sisters—the eldest—bowed her head and apologized. To anyone watching, her attitude looked polite and sincere. But I wasn't some gullible idiot who fell for appearances. If she were truly well-mannered, she never would've climbed on top of someone else's car just to take a photo. This was nothing but calculated cunning to get out of trouble. And I hated cunning little shits like that more than anything.
If she'd stuttered like Yeonju and burst into ugly tears, maybe my heart would've softened a little.
"You wouldn't have done that sober... so you were drunk, right?"
"...Yes. If I hadn't been drinking, I never would've done something like that... I'm truly, truly sorry. Please forgive me just this once."
"You know... alcohol doesn't give you courage you didn't already have. It just takes the leash off the dog. This is a good opportunity to get your act together. From now on, keep that leash on tight when you go out."
Screeech.
I said what I needed to say and stood up. I hated lingering in a place once my business was done.
"I'll leave it to you, Attorney."
"Understood."
I gave a small nod to Attorney Yu Inyeong, who was still seated beside me, then turned to leave. That's when a sudden loud voice exploded from behind me.
"Ugh, seriously!!! What a cheap bastard!!! I said I was sorry! It was my birthday yesterday, so I drank a little and got excited and made a mistake!!! Don't you ever make mistakes when you're drunk?!"
Sssssss—
The moment her shrill voice rang out, the entire atmosphere in the station froze solid. Every pair of eyes in the building snapped toward us. After about three seconds, they awkwardly looked away again.
I didn't even turn around. I just kept walking. The eldest of the three sisters had exactly the rotten personality I'd expected. What a waste of natural beauty. I was genuinely curious what kind of special home education could produce a girl like that. I hadn't exactly grown up with the best upbringing myself, but this was on another level.
"Settle with us!!! I said I'm sorry!!! I'm sorry, okay?!"
Damn, my ears. She's got some lungs on her. Crazy bitch.
I kept walking, letting her screams wash over me like background noise. But as I casually made my way out, something completely unexpected entered my field of vision—someone I never would've imagined seeing here.
She was breathing hard, like she'd run the whole way. Her face was twisted with pure rage. And her name was...
"...Jeonghye?"
Jeonghye, who had been frantically looking around for someone, froze when her eyes landed on me. The moment she saw me, her eyes widened in shock. It seemed she still remembered me clearly.
Well, it hadn't been that long since I'd made her cry. Of course she wouldn't forget.
"From... the café?"
"...Ah, yes. We met that time."
Running into someone I never expected to see here left me completely flustered. It felt like bumping into an old classmate I wasn't particularly close with but still had to greet out of politeness. I'd called her name without thinking, but now that we were face to face, I had no idea what to say.
Truthfully, Jeonghye and I weren't exactly on greeting terms. From my perspective, she was the helpful woman who'd let me devour Yeonju. But from her perspective, I was just some rude, crazy customer who'd caused a scene and then left.
"I... I'm a bit busy right now..."
"Ah, yes. Please go ahead."
We both hesitated awkwardly before somehow managing to navigate the situation. It was only a few seconds, but the tension was a hundred times worse than when I'd first walked into the station. Goosebumps erupted all over my body.
Ugh... fuck.
I shivered and hurried away. I needed to get out of this place. I'd felt off the moment I walked in. Turns out police stations and I just don't mix.
"Hey, Lee Eunhye!!!"
"U-unnie...!!"
Stop.
The instant I heard Jeonghye's shout, I froze in my tracks. This was clearly not a normal situation.
Eunhye...? Jeonghye...? No way?!
My brain spun like it had been injected with a stim pack, rapidly piecing the puzzle together. Jeonghye suddenly rushing into the station. The hopeless eldest sister blurting out "unnie" in a panicked voice when Jeonghye yelled. And the suspiciously similar names—Jeonghye and Eunhye.
Plus they both have that cat-like face... Oh, this is rich. They're sisters?
The full picture had revealed itself, but my mind kept turning. I wasn't a detective. I was a predator that hunted and devoured its prey. I never stopped at simply uncovering the truth.
My spinning brain immediately began calculating all the ways I could use this situation to my advantage. I put the plan into motion right away.
I should at least give Jeonghye time to hear the whole story from her sister, right?
I deliberately slowed my pace to a crawl. I walked like a turtle. Just moments ago I'd wanted to escape this place as fast as possible. Now? Not anymore. I needed to give Jeonghye enough time to realize that the owner of the Porsche her little sister had trashed... was me.
"E-excuse me!!"
"Yes?"
I'd been walking so slowly that Jeonghye's panicked voice caught up to me from behind. Just as I'd expected. I kept my expression neutral as I turned around. I looked at her with an expression that said I had no idea why she'd called me. Jeonghye hesitated for a moment, then her lips finally parted. The dark, guilty look on her face was incredibly satisfying.
"This is... really sudden and I'm sorry to ask, but..."
"Go ahead."
"The... the person who damaged your car... is my little sister. The girl sitting in the middle over there."
Jeonghye pointed at the hopeless eldest sister. I glanced in the direction she indicated. After screaming her head off earlier, the girl was now desperately trying to look as pitiful as possible while making eye contact with me. I stared at Jeonghye's sister Eunhye with pure contempt before turning my gaze back to Jeonghye.
"Ah... I see. And?"
"I know this is incredibly shameless of me... but could you... could you possibly forgive her just this once? I'm begging you. Please settle with us."
"What should I do? I don't want to."
