The Menacing Modified Convoy
"This effect is fucking badass!" Xiao Yi couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement.
According to the system's prompt—not even counting how much more durable and razor-sharp it had become—the biggest upgrade was that the Sin Blade now came with Soul Deterrence!
The greatest value of Soul Deterrence lay in its ability to intimidate nearby ordinary zombies.
Corpses from ordinary zombies were worthless to Xiao Yi by now, and the endless hordes of fearless, tireless low-level undead had become a real annoyance.
When hunting C-grade zombies, the real stamina drain came from those inexhaustible swarms of basic trash mobs.
And those ordinary low-level zombies barely dropped any End Coins, offering no attribute point gains either.
They were complete chicken ribs.
But with this new trait on the Sin Blade, Xiao Yi no longer had to worry about getting bogged down by ordinary low-level zombies.
Plus, there was Sin Retribution, which could be triggered in moments of rage. Xiao Yi had no idea just how powerful this critical-hit group attack skill was or how much damage it could dish out.
But the name alone made it sound impressively badass.
And it was a soul attack—one that completely ignored physical defenses!
Xiao Yi swung the Sin Blade lightly. Its edge gleamed with a chilling light, while ghostly blue flames flickered along the blade, dancing unpredictably like the Sword of Damocles straight from hell itself—brimming with raw intimidation.
"Master! Master! Those guys in the modified cars are back!!" Tang Ning Ning rushed into Xiao Yi's bedroom, her voice laced with anxiety.
A faint smirk tugged at Xiao Yi's lips. "Perfect timing."
With that, he couldn't wait any longer. He leaped straight out the castle window, soaring through the air before landing nimbly atop the city walls.
This time, the enemy had indeed brought reinforcements.
And they had come prepared.
Standing tall on the battlements, Xiao Yi watched the convoy roaring in with aggressive swagger, a cold, disdainful sneer crossing his face.
Two dump trucks reinforced with steel bars. Two mixer trucks fitted with massive wooden spikes on their fronts. Two souped-up super-steel off-road beasts.
And that familiar modified pickup leading the pack.
Even from this distance, Xiao Yi could clearly make out the arrogant smirk curling on the lips of the silver-haired girl in the pickup's cab.
Atop the two dump trucks stood about a dozen young men clutching rifles or pistols.
Xiao Yi narrowed his eyes. With his superhuman physique, he didn't even need binoculars—everything within five hundred meters was crystal clear.
54-style police pistols. 81-style police rifles.
Standard-issue gear, long phased out by the military and cops.
No idea where this crew had scavenged them from.
They were all decked out in matching black security uniforms, a few sporting police bulletproof vests, mirrored shades hiding their eyes as they struck poses of utter arrogance.
They looked just like some wannabe triad gang from a bad movie.
Probably deliberate.
After all, chuunibyou kids obsessed with Hong Kong cop flicks loved pulling this shit.
And these punks were all in their early twenties—prime age for that kind of delusional bullshit.
To Xiao Yi, though, the getup was straight-up idiotic.
It was a cloudy-ass day—what the fuck were they doing with sunglasses?
The convoy came to a slow halt about a hundred meters from the walls of the City of Sin, then fanned out into a loose circle, barricading the zombies outside their perimeter.
Once everything was in position,
two sunglass-wearing goons in bulletproof vests climbed onto the roof of a ultra-luxury modified off-roader, riot shields raised high.
The two scouts who'd come sniffing around before had learned the hard way about the city's giant crossbows, so now they were taking extra precautions against them.
Then, a figure popped up from the vehicle's sunroof, megaphone in hand, bellowing at Xiao Yi:
