The Righteous Beauty Policewoman
Xiao Yi could have easily gone with the second option without a second thought—wiping out everyone in this shelter. He wouldn't even need to lift a finger himself.
All it would take was unleashing two C-grade zombies, and this place would be wiped clean with minimal effort.
But in the end, Xiao Yi didn't do it.
He wanted to build another settlement outside the City of Sin.
In this doomsday world, he aimed to create his own slave kingdom.
So he decided to check out this shelter firsthand—to see if the people here were worth sparing.
Watching the arrogant Scarface slowly close in, with his cronies eyeing him hungrily from behind...
Xiao Yi suddenly felt a wave of boredom.
He curled his lip. Just as he was about to end this little game, the woman who'd brought him up stepped in front of him.
"Scarface! What the hell do you think you're doing? He's with me—if you want to touch him, you'll have to go through me first!"
The woman yanked off her helmet, revealing a sharp, heroic face that was strikingly refined and poised.
This was a short-haired beauty, dressed in a neutral, androgynous style.
If not for that pair of eye-catchingly proud feminine assets straining against her clothes, Xiao Yi might have mistaken her for a stunningly handsome man.
Oval face, phoenix eyes, a perky nose, pursed red lips, and a pair of fierce, sword-like brows that radiated unyielding resolve and daring.
It was the first time Xiao Yi had seen a woman so bold and brimming with heroic spirit. He couldn't help but feel a spark of interest.
The team members behind her raised their weapons without hesitation, falling in line at her back.
The scar on Scarface's face twitched like a wriggling centipede. He forced an awkward laugh. "Captain Si, I was just kidding around. No need to take it so seriously, right?"
It was clear Scarface feared this woman.
"Captain Si, you got that wrong. None of this 'my people, your people' crap—we're all in this together! In the apocalypse, unity under strong leadership is the only way we survive!" Zhou Zhengyu waved his crossbow with a grin, stepping in to smooth things over.
Xiao Yi was mildly surprised. So this fierce beauty was a cop—a stunning policewoman, no less.
Now that's interesting.
Xiao Yi smirked inwardly, his mind flashing to that police uniform he'd grabbed from the Victoria's Secret store.
The woman snorted coldly, turning to grab Xiao Yi's arm. "Kid, stick with me from now on. Ignore these assholes. Come on—I'll get you your supplies."
"Sure."
Being pulled along by the policewoman, watching her dashing figure stride ahead, Xiao Yi suddenly felt a twinge of admiration for her.
Zhou Zhengyu and Scarface were obviously no good—cut from the same cloth as their thugs, bullying the weak without mercy.
For this shelter to remain so orderly, with the vulnerable protected from abuse, Xiao Yi was certain it was all thanks to this policewoman's tireless efforts.
Her personal charisma had drawn so many followers under her wing.
He had to admit, Captain Si had real leadership chops.
"I'm Si Ruoqing, a detective with Jiang City Criminal Police. Nice to meet you." The policewoman dragged Xiao Yi to a warehouse makeshifted from plastic sheeting and introduced herself.
Xiao Yi extended his hand for a shake, his face impassive. "Xiao Yi."
"Hey, what's your deal, acting like nothing happened? Sis Si just saved your ass—least you could do is say thanks!" A young girl trailing Si Ruoqing piped up indignantly.
Xiao Yi sneered to himself. They should be the ones thanking Si Ruoqing, you idiots.
If she'd been a second slower, everyone here would've been corpses by now.
"Little Liu, cut it out!" Si Ruoqing scolded the girl, then turned to a short, middle-aged man emerging from the warehouse. "Set this new guy up with a tent, sleeping bag, and three days' worth of food and water."
The warehouse manager's face twisted in conflict at her order, like he wanted to argue but thought better of it. In the end, he shuffled back inside.
Xiao Yi peered curiously into the warehouse. It was stocked to the brim with food, bottled water...
Not to mention clothes and all sorts of daily necessities—everything they could need, fully equipped.
And beyond that, Xiao Yi spotted a sealed emergency exit door at the back.
It was barricaded with an iron cabinet, secured extra with chains.
Though tightly shut, it rattled constantly, accompanied by guttural roars from within.
Xiao Yi narrowed his eyes. That must lead straight to the stairwell below.
"Oh, that's our supply depot! Everyone's hard work went into stockpiling all this. Enough to last us three months!" Si Ruoqing noticed his gaze and explained helpfully.
"But at this rate, three months from now, we're screwed!" The short manager grumbled as he wheeled out a shopping cart of goods, shoving it grudgingly toward Xiao Yi. "Trapped here, feeding all these deadweights... When the food and water run out, we're just waiting to die!"
As he spoke, the man shot Xiao Yi a disdainful glance, implying he was just another freeloading slacker burning through their precious resources.
