Are You Hungry?
A boy wielding a knife hacked relentlessly at the zombies. Piles of zombie corpses already lay strewn before him, yet more surged endlessly from the corridor.
Lu Yu Rou watched the boy bravely slaughtering the zombies.
Suddenly, she felt a strange surge of admiration.
This sensation surprised even her.
From childhood to now, she had never idolized any man.
Not even her father.
Just a few days ago, when her father had died outside the door trying to protect her, she hadn't felt much grief.
Perhaps she was born overly rational—and exceedingly cold.
"Classmate, hurry inside and take shelter! These zombies will just keep gathering if they hear the noise! It's dangerous out there!" Lu Yu Rou said anxiously.
Xiao Yi glanced back at Lu Yu Rou through the security bars.
The beautiful professor was still stunning—and remarkably kind.
Though her hair was now disheveled, and her flawless snowy face bore streaks of blood.
Yet none of it could dim her noble, elegant beauty.
Unlike Tang Jingyan or Li Wan Ning, Lu Yu Rou exuded a mature allure.
Like a ripe peach—plump, juicy, tempting one to take a bite.
Sensing her concern,
Xiao Yi couldn't help but chuckle wryly.
Did he look like someone afraid of zombies?
Xiao Yi cleaved through several lunging zombies in quick succession, slipping into Lu Yu Rou's room the instant she opened the door.
"Classmate, what you did was extremely dangerous, you know? You can't kill them all—they multiply the more you fight. They go berserk at any sound. I've already seen several reckless fools get devoured by the horde. You're brave, sure, but don't go running around like that."
Lu Yu Rou lectured him like an elder scolding a wayward child.
She was thrilled, really. After so long without human contact,
and the brutal hardships of the apocalypse, Xiao Yi's sudden arrival filled her with fondness.
It felt like bumping into an old friend in a foreign land.
Even her usual icy demeanor thawed into warmth.
Xiao Yi scanned the room. Teachers' dorms were all single units—spacious.
Lu Yu Rou kept hers tidy and refreshing. A few books sat on the living room table—clearly, this beauty professor passed her lonely hours with reading.
"Classmate, how did you even get here?" Lu Yu Rou asked, noticing he wasn't heeding her warnings. Curiosity got the better of her.
"I heard your cries for help and came running."
Lu Yu Rou blinked, pointing diagonally across at the boys' dorm. "You with them?"
Xiao Yi followed her gaze and spotted several boys staring their way.
They'd probably witnessed his Spider-Man-esque wall-crawling and effortless zombie-slaying. They gawked, dumbfounded.
Xiao Yi felt a twinge of exasperation.
So this beauty professor hadn't been calling him for help?
She'd been yelling at those guys across the way?
From her window, though, the City of Sin was blocked by the girls' dorm—nothing visible.
"Guess I misunderstood..." Xiao Yi scratched his head awkwardly, feigning concern. "Professor Lu, you still have food left?"
"You hungry?" Lu Yu Rou spun around eagerly, fetching a cup of water and a bowl of rice from the kitchen. "I've got plenty. Eat up if you are!"
Her reaction left Xiao Yi speechless again.
"Nah, I'm good..." He waved it off. "I've got my own food."
"What about water? You got enough?" Xiao Yi pressed.
"Was running low at first, but then I figured it out. Zombie virus spreads through water, and boiling at 100 degrees doesn't kill it—but simmer it long enough, and it's safe. So water's not an issue now."
This was hard-won knowledge, risked with her life when options ran dry.
"Food-wise, I'm kinda lazy usually, so Dad stocked the kitchen with rice, flour, that stuff. Between the staples and what's left, two of us could last over a month easy."
Lu Yu Rou rattled it off like inventory.
Her father had bought it all—rice and flour as mains, plus meats and veggies. Most perishables were gone now, post-apocalypse.
He'd always insisted restaurant food was unhygienic, pushing her to eat home-cooked.
But family drama over her love life had sparked a cold war. She refused to go home.
Desperate, her father delivered groceries himself, hoping she'd cook.
Stubborn as ever, Lu Yu Rou kept dining out.
By sheer luck, her kitchen ended up a treasure trove.
