You Might Have Misunderstood the Beautiful Professor
The sunroof of the modified pickup truck slowly slid open, and a man wearing a police helmet poked his head out.
He scanned the surroundings of the school with binoculars, then said a few words to the people inside the vehicle before ducking back in.
The modified pickup and the off-roader turned around, roaring off arrogantly once more.
Xiao Yi controlled the three-eyed crow to follow the two modified vehicles for a stretch.
Just as the crow's detection range hit its limit, the vehicles pulled up in front of a convenience store. Five men with machetes and one with a rifle hopped out, slicing through a few lunging zombies like they were chopping vegetables.
The rifleman stood guard while the other five hauled goods from the store.
Their coordination was seamless; they quickly grabbed what they wanted, piled back into the vehicles, and sped away.
Watching the dust clouds from the departing vehicles fade into the distance, Xiao Yi frowned slightly.
These guys seemed highly organized, and they clearly had some interest in the school.
But for whatever reason, they ultimately decided against coming in.
That wasn't Xiao Yi's main concern, though. What really caught his eye was that they had a rifle.
The guy hadn't fired a shot, but the deterrence of a rifle was immense.
Even Xiao Yi, in his current state, would approach an opponent with a rifle extreme caution.
No matter how fast his blade was, it couldn't outpace a bullet.
If he ran into these guys, Xiao Yi wasn't confident he could take them down.
This unstable element left a bad taste in his mouth.
"I've gotta find a way to wipe these bastards out and snag that rifle,"
A cold glint flashed in Xiao Yi's eyes.
He kept directing the three-eyed crow to scout around the school vicinity.
Soon, he spotted several C-grade burly zombies furiously ramming an iron gate, drawn by something.
Steering the crow closer, Xiao Yi saw a mall not far from the gate they were battering. On the mall's outer wall, several people were climbing up ropes.
The building was low, only about seven or eight meters tall, and had been obscured by a nearby high-rise earlier, so he hadn't noticed it before.
These climbers had massive packs of food and water on their backs—clearly looted from inside the mall.
Following the ropes upward, Xiao Yi discovered a survivor camp on the rooftop!
Though the mall wasn't tall, it was expansive.
Colorful tents dotted the rooftop, and dozens of men and women milled about—Xiao Yi roughly counted over thirty.
A survivor settlement!
Perched on the mall roof, they had no shortage of food or water.
They were living pretty comfortably.
Xiao Yi was about to maneuver closer for a better look inside the camp when shouts erupted nearby.
He snapped back to attention and turned toward the source.
It was coming from the teachers' dormitory!
After the City of Sin's upgrade expanded it by half, the city's northernmost edge now bordered the girls' dormitory.
Xiao Yi was standing right on that northern wall, so the cries from the teachers' dorm carried clearly to him.
"Master! Listen! It's that beautiful economics professor!"
The five women tending a fire and experimenting with cooking on the open ground had also picked up the cries for help. The girls' dorm blocked their view, but just from the voice, Li Wan Ning and the others pegged it as the economics department's beauty, Lu Yu Rou.
"That woman's still alive?" Shen Ting Ting said with clear disdain.
"That sounds just like Professor Lu Yu Rou! Is she calling for help?! We should go save her!" Tang Ning Ning adjusted her glasses, her voice trembling with excitement.
Lu Yu Rou was her idol.
"Save her for what? You don't know—she was holed up in the same room as that old vice principal creep!" Shen Ting Ting spat in disgust. "Why bother rescuing someone like that? Gross!"
"You mean Vice Principal Lu? The scary-looking one?" Tang Jing Yan asked curiously.
"Yeah! That old fart, always glaring like everyone owes him millions. Who'd have thought Lu Yu Rou hooked up with him? He's old enough to be her dad!" Shen Ting Ting stuck out her tongue.
"Vice Principal Lu is her dad! Professor Lu Yu Rou never talks about it, but I know because my dad's on the board of directors. He mentioned it once."
Tang Jing Yan smiled. "You guys have her all wrong. Yu Rou's a good woman—stubborn as hell. She's 33 and still won't date anyone. Drove the vice principal nuts."
