Back to the Warehouse
If it weren't for Li Wan Ning and Shen Ting Ting being so beautiful, able to satisfy his emptiness, he never would have saved them.
And if he really went to rescue those people, what if they betrayed him despite his kindness?
He was strong now, sure, but there were five burly guys among them!
If they plotted against him, he couldn't guarantee he wouldn't get murdered.
Then those bastards would take over his castle?
Steal his women?
And those guys all looked so tall and handsome. Even if the castle could help him control them as slaves, what if they seduced his women behind his back while he was out hunting zombies?
Wouldn't that mean he'd be cuckolded?
Right now, he was the only man around, so the two women obeyed him completely. But if a few tall, ripped hunks showed up, Xiao Yi couldn't be sure what they'd do!
Heh! Women! Xiao Yi had seen enough of those fangirl sluts' true colors—he'd never give them the chance!
"If you want to save them so bad, I can open the door and send you out!" Xiao Yi coldly swept a glance at Li Wan Ning, his tone icy as he spoke.
Li Wan Ning immediately realized she'd said the wrong thing. She quickly lowered her head and stepped back, her eyes glistening slightly with moisture.
After a moment, Xiao Yi suddenly chuckled. "You must be thinking I'm too selfish, right?"
Before the two women could respond, he continued, "You're damn right I am! Other people's lives mean nothing to me. I just want to survive in this apocalypse. If you wanna play the saint or can't stand staying here anymore, go ahead and leave. I won't stop you—you're always free to go."
As Xiao Yi spoke, the group from the sports hall finally ran into trouble. A hulking, muscular zombie grabbed one of the guys and bit his head clean off in one chomp.
The others screamed in terror, scrambling desperately toward the rooftop.
The burly zombie, perhaps starved, just stood there gorging itself without chasing them.
That gave the survivors a chance to escape.
Soon, Xiao Yi spotted them on the sports hall rooftop, laden with bags and bundles.
The sports hall wasn't tall—just three stories—but it was enough to fend off zombies. The undead couldn't climb walls, and as long as they barricaded the stairwell door, they'd be safe for now.
They seemed to realize this too. After catching their breath, the guy who'd been leading them earlier climbed onto the railing. He flipped Xiao Yi the bird, then hoisted a sign high, pointing aggressively in his direction.
The sign read: "You just wait!"
Clearly, they were pissed that Xiao Yi had ignored their pleas for help and wanted payback.
Xiao Yi's face darkened. He didn't even glance at the guy again, instead staring thoughtfully at the freakishly massive zombie.
"Perfect! That's exactly the kind of zombie I want! Looks like the sports hall zombies were jocks in life, so they turn into beefier undead. Guess I need to pay the sports hall a visit. As for this rich pretty boy who wants me to 'wait'—oh, you'll wait, alright!" Xiao Yi stood, a wicked smirk curling his lips.
This zombie had clearly mutated, stronger than the burly one he'd killed before. Burying it would boost his attributes big time!
Hell, he might even score a skill or talent from it!
That's what he needed—prime zombie corpses!
But first, he had to deal with those ungrateful pricks in the school warehouse!
Xiao Yi wasn't a bad guy, but he sure as hell wasn't a pushover.
Repay kindness with kindness, grudge with grudge—that was his code.
Swallow his pride? Turn the other cheek? Not a chance!
This was the apocalypse—no one to hold him back!
With his current strength, regular zombies were like chopping vegetables. Even hordes fell easy to the Sin Blade—one swing could decapitate several.
Still, by the time Xiao Yi fought his way to the warehouse door, he felt a bit winded.
Bang! Bang! Xiao Yi pounded on the door. Moments later, a voice called from inside: "Who is it?!"
The tone was wary, laced with a faint tremble.
Xiao Yi recognized it—Dean Du Zhi Ming.
"It's me, Xiao Yi. I found food and water!" Xiao Yi said calmly.
Silence followed, then shuffling and muffled arguments. Finally, the warehouse door creaked open a crack. A pair of suspicious eyes scanned him up and down before asking in shock, "How are you still alive? You didn't get bit, did you?"
