The God of Light's Reckless Gamble
The Goddesses of the Spirit Realm coughed violently as they struggled to regain their breath. “Cough—! Cough—!” “Gack—! Hack—!”
From their perspective, the seal that had been suppressing their divine power had suddenly vanished, only for a high-ranking Lord God of Light to launch a brutal assault. They had muttered that he seemed strangely small for a goddess, prompting him to snap that he was at least a Highest God and grab them by the throat. He had nearly incinerated them with the supreme authority of the sun before they barely managed to activate a joint technique and repel him.
Yet the moment they realized the hand around their necks had come within a hair’s breadth of snapping them, and that the solar divine power had been so overwhelmingly potent they had nearly been erased on the spot, they understood there was no time to leisurely recover. Seeing him charge in with the declaration that criminals deserved immediate execution, they instantly grasped their position. Had they not exploited that brief opening of carelessness, he clearly would have disposed of them without hesitation.
“What kind of Lord God of Light is this violent? He came straight at us trying to erase us on the spot.”
“He must be some insane God of War. We need to run. We can’t let our guard down just because of that.”
The divine power they had sensed moments ago had undoubtedly belonged to the Highest Main God level. Although God-Slaying Explosive Thunderflame was a joint technique on the Demon King level, in their current condition they could not confidently claim it would inflict a fatal wound. The authority that had transformed into dragons of flame and lightning had failed to completely destroy the Lord God’s wings of light; instead, it had merely corroded the surroundings before scattering. That alone told them everything.
They hurriedly pulled out light garments to cover their naked bodies and tried to flee the room when a spine-chilling sensation pierced through them.
Shhhk-sh-sh-sh-shk—!
Before they knew it, hundreds of spears brimming with killing intent had surrounded them without a single gap.
‘It’s as if they tore through space and appeared. There was no presence at all, yet we’re completely encircled.’
Rumble—!
Between the spears hovering in midair, a barrier seemed to form. Overwhelming killing intent and divine power surged like a storm. They could not understand the nature of this spear barrier, but it clearly possessed an authority that repelled and annihilated divine power. It was puzzling how a Lord God could wield a more vicious God-Slaying authority than a Demon God, yet they had no intention of testing it by force. Even the slightest movement would cause the razor-sharp tips to tear into their skin; the spears were pressed so tightly against them.
“This is the barrier of the Main God-Slaying Spear. If you move, I will pierce your limbs and begin the trial.”
Crackle—! Whoosh—!
As if shaking off the impact, the Lord God of Light, wrapped in wings of radiance, spat out a cold voice and rose to his feet. The full release of his divine power slowly dissipated, as though he had suffered tremendous damage. Then, as if speaking to himself, he muttered blankly.
Demon King-level joint technique successfully executed — inflicted more than double the expected damage.
Individual magic explosion delivered over four times the impact.
Alone, they are at the Highest God level, but together their maximum output exceeds Upper Main God rank.
Originally Demon Gods, they would be near the Highest Demon God tier.
However, due to flawed divine power conversion, all authorities have dropped by two stages. Currently, even a Highest Main God cannot land a fatal blow.
Without a Creator God-level body and the biomechanical armor of a Machine God, that would have been dangerous.
Did I let my guard down again? Am I really trying to get myself killed?
My apologies for the rudeness. From now on, I recognize you both as Intermediate Main Gods or higher.
Then, as promised, I will hear your defense.
Whirr—!
He lightly stamped his foot. A ripple of divine power spread outward like a stone dropped into still water. The completely destroyed office of the Lord God’s temple—scorched by heat and explosive force—was restored without a trace. It was not a simple material structure from the mortal realm; even a shabby temple belonging to the Divine Realm was effortlessly repaired.
No matter how they analyzed his divine power, they could not understand it.
‘The visible divine power is only around Intermediate Main God level, yet he casually performs creations that would strain even a Highest Main God.’
‘He took a joint technique from Demon King rank head-on, yet there is no loss of body mass and only his divine power’s radiance has dimmed. Just what kind of defensive authority does he possess?’
He sat on a sofa in the corner of the now-brand-new, lavishly restored office and spoke.
“You two are stronger and more useful than them. I promise to listen to your circumstances as much as possible.”
His words felt somehow off-kilter, yet strangely trustworthy. The goddess wrapped in black lightning across her entire body nodded.
‘I can feel a firm conviction that the strong must be respected. That makes him believable.’
‘There’s a faint mix of fighting spirit and killing intent similar to the Demon Gods of the Demon Race.’
It seemed the earlier exchange had dealt a deep wound to his pride. More than that, the fact that no one had come despite the tremendous roar and surge of divine power earlier weighed on their minds.
‘Does that mean the Lord God before us is that overwhelmingly strong? Strong enough that he needs no help against the likes of us.’
Before they could ponder the answer to that question, they moved first, as always. One of them instantly raised her flame authority to the maximum and shifted to the opposite side of the sofa.
The other urgently tried to stop her.
‘You mustn’t get close. No… actually, this is to our advantage.’
From the previous exchange of blows, they had identified his weakness.
‘That Lord God is a mighty Sun God, so he must have a weakness in close combat. He is undoubtedly a powerful God of War, but one who specializes in long-range attacks.’
Even the joint technique they had unleashed while suppressed had looked clumsy to them; he had only barely managed to deflect it rather than completely avoid the damage.
‘We don’t know what will happen if we give him distance, but since we specialize in close combat while wielding the crimson flames of God-Slaying and the black lightning of Lord-Slaying, our chances of victory are clearly high.’
‘That abnormally strong defense is a problem, but a joint technique should be enough to break through it.’
Although the difference in rank had made a fatal blow difficult, the effect had still been significant.
‘If we pour on attacks at point-blank range, we can win. That’s why he’s approaching so confidently.’
Truly, she thought with admiration, her judgment was swift—just as expected from someone once called the Crimson Flame Empress of God-Slaying.
“The charge is collective divine power theft through mate fraud. The initial verdict was immediate erasure, but since the accused are above Lord God rank, the verdict is reconsidered. Present your counterargument.”
“……”
So it was that issue after all.
‘Those bastards kept forcing their feelings on us even when we said we didn’t want them, begging us to understand their hearts.’
‘Then later, when we learned that nearly all the Highest Gods had done the same, we got furious. They tried to brand us as criminals and violate us, so we ran away.’
After that, they had fought the powerful Lord Gods of this realm, been pushed back, and ultimately sealed themselves—yet the nonsense continued.
‘The Gods of Light lost their self-control, captivated by the latent seductive authority of the Demon Gods, and now they have no shame.’
‘Since he gave us a chance to argue, we can push back as much as we want.’
Yet when she tried to sit leisurely on the sofa opposite the Lord God, she froze solid.
Crack—! Crack—!
The spears that had earlier radiated such vicious killing intent had silently embedded themselves in the opposite sofa without any warning.
‘What does this mean?’
‘Didn’t he tell us to sit and argue?’
Yet the Lord God’s fighting spirit had risen to an incomparably higher level than before.
“That is not where you sit.”
Tap—! Tap—!
The Lord God leaned back deeply into the sofa, spread both legs, and patted his thighs. An expression of utter disbelief rose on the goddesses’ faces.
‘Telling us to sit on his thighs is not simple sexual harassment.’
‘Just as we figured out that he specializes in long-range combat, he must have realized we specialize in close quarters.’
They had once reigned as Empress and Knight Commander on the battlefields of gods and demons, cloaked in flames and lightning that slew gods. No matter how high his rank, a long-range specialist God of War could never defeat them in close combat.
‘If you can’t discern an opponent’s traits after a single exchange, you don’t deserve to call yourself a God of War.’
‘Yet a long-range specialist is willingly offering his thighs. That literally means he is handing over nearly all his evasion options.’
In that position, leg movement would be sealed. He would have to attack and defend using only his upper body. Moreover, they could attack with their legs while sitting on his thighs.
‘The previous exchange was a vicious one aimed at mutual annihilation, yet he is willingly accepting such an overwhelmingly disadvantageous position.’
‘He isn’t simply trusting his high defense. This is the image of a wounded beast baring its fangs out of injured pride.’
The Lord God of Light was risking his life purely for the sake of his pride.
‘I wonder if all the current Lord Gods engage in such life-or-death struggles.’
‘The Demon Race never went this far in the past.’
Regardless of such questions, the Lord God of Light urged them impatiently.
“Right here. Let’s begin again.”
The goddesses, originally from the Demon Race, found themselves smiling involuntarily.
‘Hehe! Even among Demon Gods, beings who fight while staking their lives like this were rare.’
‘And even then, they would only do so after creating conditions favorable to themselves and securing certainty of victory. They never charged in so blatantly and recklessly.’
Even after becoming Lord Gods, they were Demon Gods for whom battle had once been everything. They did not dislike a being who displayed such pure fighting spirit. Especially when that fighting spirit was so pure, without any traps, simply clashing with full power using only his own strength. It was utterly lovable.
Therefore, they spoke with a deeply seductive smile.
“Hohoho—! We accept.”
“If we win, does that mean we’re innocent? You seem to hold the authority to decide, right?”
Snap—!
When the Lord God of Light lightly flicked his finger, the Intermediate Divine Realm Lord Gods and their direct subordinate regular Lord Gods appeared. It seemed to be a high-ranking spatial authority; he had connected the spaces entirely.
‘If this isn’t his own divine realm, such spatial authority should be blocked, yet he’s doing it as if there’s no interference at all.’
‘It means he’s a Lord God possessing supreme-level solar and spatial authorities. Then he’s even more vulnerable in close combat.’
The sun’s ultra-high heat required a certain amount of space and preparation time, and spatial abilities were limited in close combat because misuse could drag the user in as well.
‘The Lord Gods in the place he showed us appear to be in the middle of fierce training; they are covered in wounds everywhere. Strangely, however, their faces look brighter than before.’
‘In the past, after being rejected by the goddesses and nearly losing their divine realms as alimony, they had looked as if the world had ended, desperately clinging to us. Now there is no such desperation—only pure fighting spirit and passion for strength.’
If he had shown such a face in the past, they might have wavered. Moreover, based on enormous vitality, both his divine power and physical level were rising sharply.
‘He seems to be right on the verge of Upper Main God.’
Seeing the Lord God wrapped in light, they lightly bowed their heads in greeting. Even though he must have seen them, his face only stiffened slightly with no other expression. They found it unexpected.
‘It is completely different from the past when he chased after us begging for love. His attention is solely on the Lord God sitting arrogantly with his legs spread on the sofa.’
‘As expected, this Lord God is the superior. Despite appearing as an Intermediate Main God, it means he is actually Upper Main God or higher.’
The Lord God of Light’s voice, infused with divine power, rang out in declaration.
If you defeat me or kill me, they will be declared innocent.
“As you wish. The right to punish all Spirit Gods and Lower Gods will remain valid until it is returned. As the Main God of the Divine Realm, I guarantee the fulfillment of this promise.”
The Main God of the Spirit Realm’s Divine Realm bowed his head as if it were only natural and certified the fact.
‘There is no dissatisfaction at all. It is overflowing with the respect one shows a benefactor.’
‘Just what happened that a powerful Main God of the Divine Realm would hand over his rights and still act like this? This Lord God may be a far higher existence and a more powerful God of War than we thought.’
The thought that he might be a powerhouse beyond their senses brought a wave of tension. At the same time, they saw a massive amount of vitality being sent to the Divine Realm.
“The divine power they stole through mate fraud, as well as my own, I will repay first with vitality. These Lord Gods now owe the Spirit Realm nothing. If the verdict is innocent, they are free. All you have to do is defeat me. So let’s begin at once. Continuing from earlier—!”
He slapped his thigh once more, then spread both arms across the top of the sofa, assuming a completely defenseless posture.
‘He even released the spatial connection so the Main God of the Divine Realm cannot provide any assistance.’
They could not tell whether this was bravado born from wounded pride or genuine confidence that he could subdue them even from such a disadvantageous position. The confidence they had gained from landing a joint technique and inflicting damage—believing they held the advantage in close combat—began to waver. The idea that offering his thighs might be a trap filled their minds.
‘Still, we cannot back down from such a favorable situation. The conditions are overwhelmingly generous.’
If they won, the absurd charge of mate fraud would disappear. They could keep their current divine power and escape this tiresome Spirit Realm.
‘Then we can start over and go find the one we long for.’
They looked at each other, bit their lips tightly, slowly awakened their authorities to the limit, and approached him as they spoke. Just in case, they had to draw a clear line. They were bodies that absolutely had to return to the one they loved. Having rejected countless temptations because they could never belong to anyone else, they said:
“What if we lose? Are you thinking of making us your slaves or something?”
“In that case, we absolutely cannot accept. We would rather choose erasure.”
“Nonsense—! This is separate from a formal contract. It is the price for my own carelessness and the correction of my mistake. So let’s begin immediately.”
A faint smile rose once more on the goddesses’ faces.
‘This Lord God is truly a fool. He could have easily forced an unfair contract by pinning mate fraud, divine power theft, and various other crimes on us.’
‘Even if we felt dissatisfied, we would never have been able to refuse.’
Now that they thought about it, the chaotic mixture of their various powers during the absorption of divine power seemed to have been assisted by this Lord God.
‘If he had simply emphasized that kindness, it would have been quite troublesome. Yet he honestly comes at us with nothing but pure force, making us understand through strength alone.’
The fact that he had attacked them at first, deceived into thinking they were merely Highest Gods rather than Lord Gods, and then, after taking a blow from a Demon King-level joint technique, immediately recognized them as powerful Intermediate Main Gods. And now, to correct his own carelessness and mistake, he was willingly accepting such disadvantageous conditions.
‘The feeling of seeing such a Lord God is not bad at all. Rather, it feels refreshing. But that and this are separate matters.’
In this overwhelmingly advantageous situation, victory would grant them freedom.
‘The promises of an Upper Main God and a Main God of the Divine Realm are not taken lightly. They will definitely be carried out.’
Their own bodies, after so long, surged with fighting spirit and authority as if every last drop was boiling over. They lightly stepped between the Lord God’s legs, facing him, and placed their buttocks on his thighs.
One on each thigh, they fixed themselves in place with their full weight and divine power so he could not move. From the side, it would look obscene—two women sitting on his spread thighs, gazing at the Lord God’s face while acting coquettishly.
‘Just as this Lord God brought upon himself, his lower body is now completely sealed.’
‘We have free use of our limbs and can unleash every close-combat attack we possess. If we pour a joint technique onto him in this state, no Lord God could endure it.’
They could feel his thigh muscles tense to the point of bursting through their buttocks, and the hands he had spread on both sides of the sofa conveyed rising divine power and authority alongside his tension.
‘So he really was taking on the risk.’
Because it was recklessness born from wounded pride, their victory was certain.
‘There are so many openings where even a slight touch could inflict a fatal wound.’
Yet they found themselves reluctant to kill this God of War who had shown them such pure goodwill. If their joint technique struck at full power against someone so defenseless, any Lord God would die.
Therefore, they made one final offer.
“Even now, shall we call it a draw?”
“In that case, we would be innocent, right?”
Rumble—!
But suddenly they sensed the Lord God smiling faintly. And then his divine power surged wildly. The increase was astonishing.
‘This is not amplification from normal authority!’
An intense sense of crisis flooded them alongside the tremendous fighting spirit and authority. Then, into their ears, the Lord God’s voice came roaring as he suddenly ground his teeth.
