Chapter 120
Chapter 120
Civil Servant Hunter’s S-class Resignation Log – Chapter 120
Zombie Nick.
Up until now, I'd thought the nickname came from constantly pouring heals into people to keep them from dying. But now I saw that wasn't it at all.
If it bites you, the enemy dies.
That was exactly why it was called Zombie.
'It's even smiling. Scary as hell. Gotta not mess with Monic.'
If she slacked off even a little, those iron chains would come flying her way. Se-ra hurriedly dashed toward the rampaging dragon.
Seong Ja-rim and Ali were battling the head of Greed, while Michael and Kang Se-jun were holding off the head of Envy that had Garcia's spirit in its grasp. Julian, who had come to his senses before she knew it, was also firing arrows into the dragon's body.
That left Sloth and Lust.
Se-ra twisted her lips as she eyed the head of Lust, which was opening its maw toward Julian. Finally, it was time to settle things with that bastard.
First, she unleashed a barrage of shots at the dragon's feet, planted firmly on the ground. The EX-rank weapon's power easily tore through even its tough scales. The dragon's eyes bulged toward her as pain erupted from an unexpected spot.
The green head had turned to glare at Se-ra before she knew it. It reacted with furious intensity, clearly pissed that it hadn't dragged her down the "path of sin." Good. Come on, then. I've been gunning for you too.
Just before the dragon's fangs could chomp down on her, Se-ra wrapped herself in her cube. Boom! A massive impact hit, but thanks to Seong Ja-rim and Monic's heals, it was bearable. She thrust her hand out from the cube and clamped down hard on the dragon's fang.
As the dragon lifted its head, Se-ra's body rose into the air along with the cube. But as long as she kept the cube up, it couldn't devour her.
"Your arms are too short to rip me out, huh?"
Of course, she wasn't exactly relaxed either. Her arm gripping the fang was trembling violently. So, quick and decisive. She aimed the barrel outside the cube. Heat was currently in shotgun formperfect for wide-area blasts.
Se-ra flashed a bright grin and pulled the trigger.
Bang! Dozens of holes ripped through the inside of the dragon's mouth. Blood sprayed onto the fang, and her hand slipped free.
She'd dealt major damage, but she couldn't push further. Se-ra let go and floated into the air with the cube. It was right then that her eyes met the dragon's through the blood-soaked cube, as it panted heavily.
'Ah, bad feeling.'
And her instincts were never wrong.
A sinister energy gathered in the dragon's perforated maw. Not a breath attack. But something on par with itthe dragon's other signature move. Dragon Fear.
"Yoon Se-ra, dodge!"
Ali, who was nearby, shouted. Seong Ja-rim realized too late and freaked out, while Kang Se-jun threw up a protective spell around Se-ra a beat behind.
But they were all too far away, and the dragon's fear had already triggered. Se-ra gave a wry smile.
"We're screwed."
The fear blasted out. Kang Se-jun's shield shattered first, followed by her cube crumbling.
The durability of the Jacket of Revival, gifted by the Administrator, took a huge hit. Reeling from the backlash of her shattered skill and the fear's impact, Se-ra vomited a gush of blood.
'It hurts...!'
But she couldn't afford to lose focus here.
The Administrator's cry, thick with agony, kept pulling her fading mind back. If she blacked out now, the Administrator might step in. She couldn't let that happen.
'Administrator, I'm fine. Just a little hurt. Calm down. Stay putdon't come.'
The Administrator hated revealing their existence. They'd even threatened people with divine power, like Baek Hee-won, to keep it hidden.
Even if the reasons differed, Se-ra had felt the same way once, so she understood completely. She wanted to honor that wish.
'I appreciate you caring, but I'm fighting to the end.'
This path was one she'd chosen to meet the Administrator. It was her road. So no matter how tough, no matter how hurt she got, she'd walk it to the end.
'Maybe this is how Mom felt.'
Se-ra smiled even as she swallowed blood. For the first time, she understood her mother's endless self-sacrifice. Of course, she had no intention of sacrificing herself for strangers like her mom had.
"Monic! You don't need to heal me!"
She yelled as Monic's mana-infused iron chains flew her way. Monic snapped back that it was nonsense and not to act tough, but Se-ra ignored her and activated her skill again.
"Space Lock."
The cube deployed. This time, big enough to encompass not just her body, but the dragon's head too. Her remaining stamina and mana drained away in an instant.
"Yoon Se-ra! Don't push yourself! Heal first!"
"Se-ra!"
"Hey! If you screw up, your brother's gonna kill me!"
Kang Se-jun, Seong Ja-rim, and Ali were yelling from outside. Such worriers. She had zero plans to die.
Se-ra laughed inside the cube. Her stomach churned so badly her lips quivered. A second wave of dragon fear was building in the dragon's mouth.
But a short alert popped up first.
The Jacket of Revival earning its keep. The moment it triggered, fresh power surged through her fatigued body. She'd skipped Monic's heals for this exact reason.
'Alright then...'
Inside the heating cube, Se-ra thought.
How the upgraded skill "Space Domination" differed from her old "Field Domination."
Killing ghost types, preventing monsters from exiting gates so they couldn't kill allies, pinning non-living things in placethings like that.
Wasn't it a waste to use an L-rank skill with "Domination" in the name for just that? Surely it could do more.
What if she fully dominated the space inside here? Maybe something like this was possible.
Se-ra took a deep breath. Her glowing red left eye locked on the targetnot the cube's position, but inside it. Where she needed to go.
"Yoon Se-ra!"
Kang Se-jun's shout was like the trigger. Se-ra murmured softly.
"Teleport."
Her body vanished. Everyone watching from outside gaped in shock.
What followed was a short death rattle. Not Se-ra'sthe dragon's final scream.
Se-ra, who had been plummeting to the ground, was suddenly inside the dragon's mouth. Gripping a sword with peculiar, jagged blade edges.
The blade, infused with an L-rank Awakener's mana and doubled attack power, pierced straight from the dragon's mouth to its crown in one thrust.
Drip, drip. Hot liquid fell onto the green crown.
The dragon fear dissipated. The dragon's sharp eyes, glaring at her, rolled back. Se-ra hadn't budged an inch until then.
With the awaited message, the crown shattered with a clang. As the dragon's head began to fall, Se-ra finally pulled out her sword.
"Yoon...!"
Kang Se-jun flew straight at her. But the cube crumbled faster.
'Ah, it worked... but damn, the mana drain is no joke. Got too greedy.'
Teleporting inside the cube. The effect was beyond imagination, but she needed more training.
A feeble laugh escaped as the cube shattered. Amid the dark sky, her body plummeted to the ground amid shards of red glass.
'Administrator, I'm okay... just a bit tired...'
No good. If she passed out, the Administrator would freak... But she couldn't hold onto the thought any longer.
Even as the desperate cry reached her ears, Se-ra finally lost consciousness.
* * *
The falling Se-ra was convulsing so violently it was visible from afar. Kang Se-jun, flying desperately toward her, finally realized the blood covering her wasn't all the dragon's. Her body had hit its limit from overusing the skill.
"Damn it!"
Just as Kang Se-jun tried to catch her with magic
"Huh... the cube?"
The destroyed cube reappeared, gently catching her. She landed safely, which was a relief, but what the hell was going on? Se-ra had clearly passed out completely.
"Ah."
Something blocked Kang Se-jun as he approached to check on her. Grrr. Sharp fangs bared, snarling at him.
What had appeared beside the cube was none other than the kumiho Se-ra doted on, calling it Elizabeth.
