Prologue
“Phew~ Why does today have to be so damn exhausting?”
It was a lie. Every single day was tougher than the last. I’d probably mutter the same thing tomorrow.
The cold draft of my empty officetel was the only thing welcoming me home. It’d been ages since I’d felt too embarrassed to even say “I’m back.”
After a shower, I collapsed onto the bed and dove into the one saving grace of my miserable life.
— Love Quest. A smartphone dating sim. You meet a girl, flirt a bit, confess, and become lovers... On the surface, it’s your run-of-the-mill romance game, but the quest system—where you complete tasks to boost affection levels—is so brilliantly designed that I’d been obsessed for months now. I’d cleared all the main heroine routes ages ago, snapping up every DLC the second it dropped and grinding late into the night.
If only real life had quests like this to conquer heroines. Then maybe I could have a real relationship for once. And if I played my cards right... sex... heh heh.
I glanced at the clock. Already past midnight.
Three hours gone again. That’s enough for tonight.
I chucked my phone onto one side of the bed and lay down. Minutes later, my eyelids grew heavy. Guess I really was beat today. I slept so deeply that I never felt the faint vibration or saw the screen light up.
Of course, I didn’t notice the app’s title change from Love to Sex either.
